Poor Image: Emergency Weapon

Is does just so happens to be a rather low quality png◊ of a hand passively holding an Improvised Weapon.

Suggestions are for videogame secondary or tertiary, back-up weapons◊ prepared in advance, "last ditch weapons"◊, items "in case of emergency..."◊, etc.

Only 1.2 and 1.3 work, 1.2 might be a little too cluttered at wiki size.

Well desperation was what I was aiming for with 1.2.

Yes. It took me a while to see the hand holding the knife, and at a glance, it looked just like a group of monsters.

3 works for me.

The spoon feels more like a Joke Weapon, and the wrench is... well, actually ridiculously useful. Although the link didn't work for me anyway.

I don't think 3 works very well. Took me way to long to spot the knife.

Ok, but it is good manners to post a link to any old threads when making a new one, so everyone else can too.

I like that the suggestion in 3 implies that the knife is an emergency weapon that is not normally used (because the enemies have guns), but dislike that it's cluttered and the knife does not stand out.

Forgive me if I link wrong. But my suggestion is the pic I made linked below. Leon's inventory in Resident Evil 2 with a gun with 0 bullets, and a knife equipped. What do you think? It can be modified or cropped, no problem. Or any of the above I can try to modify if anyone needs help with that. :)

Oh yes I meant to thank you Rodney. I was looking for the thread myself, to no avail.

I would like to find something just as hectic(not cluttered) and just as desperate where the EW does stand out.

@Lakija: While we appreciate your input and effort in making the pic, since the knife in early RE games really is near useless, as to add to the suspense of when you run out of ammo, it proves the exception to the trope and will not work unfortunately.

The later games correct this with a knife that does do something and you can use those games if you like. Thanks!

It's not really an example of either. I mean, its main purpose is to be cheap units you can use quickly to protect your plants before you can afford more expensive units. It's not really a fallback weapon by any stretch.

I kinda wonder about those "exceptions" of the trope. The knife is still supposed to be an emergency weapon, no matter how effective it is. And it works in most games RE, at least on regular enemies. But then, I'm not sure an inventory screen is the best type of image here.

If not, there should be. Zerg Rush was the closest I could find, but you're right, it's an imperfect fit.

Yes if we could just get a better quality image of it in action then maybe... And any images from PS 1 games will be crappy.

The crowbar one works on a couple levels.

Good pics, and I do what to go that route... But no guns or crowbars as they are Ranged Emergengcy Weapon and Crowbar Combatant respectively. And I will do REW when this tread is finished.

That is trope name but not meaning again. I dislike the suggestions in 19, because this isn't any weapon used in an emergency, it is specifically a "weak, but always-functional weapon you can fall back on if you're out of ammo." (mostly a video game thing)
