It just premiered, and it's actually hilarious, so it should have a thread!

It has a page on this wiki.

Brief from ANN: Anime about the staff of the health and welfare section of the ward office of a certain city. Newcomers Hasebe Yutaka, Yamagami, Miyoshi Saya, and their supervisor Ichimiya Taishi go through the everyday quirks of working at their office.

So Hasebe is a slacker, who surprisingly has nearly impeccable recall. Yamagami has about 25 first names, tries to take her work seriously but gets scolded a lot, and is on a quest for revenge. She also has Expressive Hair and a nice...sweater. For Saya, at age 24, it is her first job. She is a chatty old lady magnet.

Also there is a really cute bumblebee mascot.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

For a couple minutes I was wondering how Yamagami actually got that sweater on. And the name thing is pretty funny. Loosie.

I found the old ladies ranting about their lives to Saya and Hasebe's expression of glee and waii while running around the office the funniest segments.

Also, Dvorak's New World symphony played when it was time to go home. I thought that only happened in Shin Sekai Yori !

Oho! I think I might like this, having worked as a public servant before. My job was kinda like that, most customers were looking for a different department.

Those dead eyes... Being an admin officer will do that to you. I had a jaded senior co-worker too.

Oh the tears!

Being yelled at is definitely part of it too.

It's humor on a similar level as Working!, but it hits closer to home for me.

This may be partly "office humor" but I like it, it's kind of familiar.

I hope the characters don't become one-note or get bogged down or too much defined by their personal running gags.

But I'll be watching this one with optimism though I think.

I enjoyed seeing speculation that as a third generation public servant, Hasebe's father was the one who allowed Lucy's name.

Or rather perhaps the supervisor that lectured them at the end.

Checking this out largely because it's by the guy that did Working. First episode was okay.

Pretty much felt like the a standard office comedy...as an anime. Still, first ep was funny enough.

The boss seemed surprisingly normal for this sort setup however. We shall see.

[up]

That would be my guess as well, even if this IS Japan, and its birth rates has been declining for years.

Really reminds me of Working!'s humor, and that's always a good thing. The art though isn't quite as good, and it's obvious how the production doesn't even have Working's S1 budget... For some reason. Despite being done by A-1.

Well, unless there are some really bizarre short term trends, it's kind of impossible for divorces to outpace marriages. Although maybe that's the point of asking the question?

The birth rate in Japan is pretty low, and I don't think that the divorce rate can exceed the marriage rate for anything more than brief periods. However, I don't remember if it was asking for marriage/divorce licenses or to actually file for one directly. Does such a thing as a divorce license exist? ...Anyway, I'll bet on marriage, I guess. I think it's a bit more likely to be birth rate since you can have more than one per relationship but eh, whatever.

Apparently it was a double-meaning joke that got totally mistranslated. It was asking which of them was "heaviest." The answer is divorce papers, by some very small difference in mass, and saying something is "heavy" carries a similar metaphorical meaning in Japanese. So divorce papers are the heaviest both ways.

I kind of found this a little stale on occasion, funny on occasion. The characters aren't all that endearing either, but watchable. I'll see if I'm dropping this or not.

Episode 1: I find this an agreeable blend of office comedy and anime. [tup] Almost makes me want to check out Working!

I can't be the only one thinking it was a Hasebe that let Lucy's name pass.

SamCurt Since: Jan, 2001

Speaking of Lucy's Overly Long Name— is that ever technically possible? Let's say, in my place, where Chinese names and Latin names are registered separately, there's a 6-kanji and 32-Roman-character limitation. It's hard to believe if such a long name can be put into the system even if that staff wants to...

[up][up] Hasebe's father...yeah, probably. Pretty sure that's why he mentioned coming from 3 generations of civil servants

[up] No idea about Japan, but in the US someone manage to change their name to something that isn't even a unicode character....so I guess it could be possible. Rule of Funny works for me.

If that limitation isn't described in the law, it may be possible to go through some hoops to get a longer name. Here I think most people have two given names (first and middle), and one or two surnames. Some people naturally have more. And seeing as how naming is deeply traditional, a traditional country like Japan wouldn't likely have a technical limitation like length. I think the only limitation here is basically, "it can't be inappropriate".

Episode out. So far this really isn't as good as Working.

Episode 2. In which there is lots of tsun and dere.

I have to say, the first episode was kind of bland, as I mentioned before. The second episode was far better. Probably because I liked both focus characters.

The first, Chihaya, suddenly became awesome. That's about it.

Was that Yokkyun?

Lucy(abbr.) was a few seconds slow to that "take off your clothes and stop cosplaying" joke...

Nice... birthmark. It's so odd seeing it when she's smiling. And kinda cute. And she sounds very much like Haruhi.

It's rather funny to see the annoying and fearsome know-it-all immediately get curbstomed by everyone or their friends. Well, in a manner of speaking. In particular I enjoyed her interactions with Yutaka, which earned her a few plus points.

"You seem normal. What's your name?" That sentence has never been funnier.

I kinda assumed they were brother and sister to begin with. It seemed so natural. And no one knew? She seemed rather infamous to begin with.

Certainly Megumi is being awesome this episode—among the more obvious ones, it's really the first time that being a Cosplay Otaku Girl can also make the same person The Fashionista as well...

That said, I'm still a bit confused about what she meant, in effect, that she's a temp, even she's likely to have worked in that office for years?

This also brings up a question. When Yagagami tried to cheer Saya up in the beginning of the first episode, she mentioned "it's normal for high-school graduates to feel nervous for their first job." Out of what reason would she think Saya is a high school graduate, given Japan has an oversupply of college places? (Compare: where Jun studies in this episode of Rozen Maiden.)
