Moerin (4 Score & 7 Years Ago)
#326: Jul 17th 2013 at 1:38:50 PM

Um... So yeah, replacing Moerin with... Moerin. Whee.

  • Name: Moerin*
  • Age: 25
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Civilian form. As a Wizard. Heightwise, she's about 6'1".
  • Kind: OC
  • Powers: Moerin is a Gate, a human with magical potential. Normally, this would have been completely irrelevant due to our world being inherently unmagical, but the arrival of Cosmos and Chaos has allowed magic into our world. Due to being faced with despair and refusing to surrender to it, Moerin's magical abilities were unlocked, allowing her to channel them through several magical items:
    • Wizardriver: A special belt Moerin uses in conjunction with the Wizard Rings to channel her magic. By scanning a ring against the hand design on the buckle, the belt will call out "[Ring Name], okay?" and activate its effect. By using the Thunder, Forest or Alloyed Rings she is able to bring out the full potential of her magical abilities and transform into a magical girl loosely based on Kamen Rider Wizard, vastly increasing her physical capabilities in the process. Although her different forms all have different stats, they are generally all more agile but less defensive based than her masked counterparts.
    • Wizard Rings: Special rings that Moerin uses in conjunction with the Wizardriver to use magic. She has in possession the following rings from the list: Driver On, Engage, Connect, Small, Defend, Big, Light, Bind, Drill (used in conjunction with her helmet's horn for a headbutting horn drill attack), Extend and Kick Strike. In addition, she also has the Thunder, Forest and Alloyed rings that work just like the rings Wizard uses to activate his different Styles; a Clone Ring that is similar in function to the Copy Ring but only creates one copy of Moerin, who can operate somewhat independantly and is not just bound to copying Moerin's actions; and the Kirinrise Ring which is functionally identical to the Dragorise Ring only it summons Magikirin rather than Wizardragon.
    • WizarSwordGun: A weapon that can work as either a sword or a gun (due to Moerin's distaste for guns it rarely gets used as the latter, though), and can be used in conjunction with some of her Rings for special attacks. Moerin thinks the name "WizarSwordGun" sounds really stupid, though, so don't expect her to ever refer to it as such.
    • Wizard: As noted above, Moerin can transform into a magical girl loosely based on Kamen Rider Wizard by using one of her three Style Rings. Her three forms are Thunder Style, an electric-element form that is well rounded but ultimately has no real strengths either; Forest style, a wood-element form that excels in speed but causes her already low defenses to become paper thin; and Alloyed Style, a metal-element form that is as slow as it is strong. By using the Kick Strike Ring in any of these forms, she activates that forms finishing move, which are invariably elemental-powered Rider Kicks.
  • Side: Cosmos
  • World of Origin: Our Earth.
  • Personality: Hammy, silly and something of a perv, with a notable love of boyish girls and girlish boys. Refuses to act her age most of the time, but when she does it's usually a bad sign. She has a strong sense of justice, and is quick to jump to the defence of anyone she feels has been wronged, but other than that she's kinda lazy. She's also kind of a nerd, and enjoys cooking, reading and random bouts of philosophy. Unfortunately, she also suffers from an inferiority complex and tends to put everyone else before herself, and has a habit of apologising far too much when she believes she has done something wrong.
  • Bio: There's nothing much to say, really. Just a boring, ordinary life leading to a boring, ordinary existence. She's currently directionless and lost without any real purpose in life, but that doesn't stop her from trying to find one. Upon moving to America, Moerin's attempts to adapt to a new home quickly led to her falling into depression, and with the arrival of Cosmos and Chaos allowing magic into our world, her status as a Gate was suddenly brought to the forefront as her inner Phantom, Magikirin, tried to take over her body. Thankfully, Moerin was able to resist falling fully into despair, and her efforts were rewarded by her fully unlocking her latent magical abilities. Soon afterwards, she was approached by a mysterious figure who gave her the Wizardriver, and ever since then has been operating as a mysterious hero of the night. She is currently completely unaware of the battle between Chaos and Cosmos.

Name: Norma Beatty

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: Here

Powers: Norma is very fragile and she is not one to openly fight in the front lines. Rather, the girl makes use of her magic skills to attack enemies from a far with her spells, known as Crystal Eres. She is able to cast magic of various elements, such as fire, darkness, earth, and water. Norma is not a one-trick pony however. She also capable of supporting her allies with healing magic and spells which can increase their power in battle, such as their physical strength and defense.

Norma is able to focus her magic abilities through a bubble straw that she carries into battle with her at all times. It takes time for her to cast her spells, so she must stay focused and uninterrupted at all times to successfully use her magic.

Side: Cosmos

Personality: Norma is a very cheerful and comical girl. She's quite talkative to those around her, and isn't above poking fun at herself to get a good laugh. This caused Norma to leave her home and runaway to the Legacy to find the Everlight and complete her teacher's work.

After joining the Cosmos, Norma assists the team in combat with her various spells... when she's not busy hunting for treasure and money.

Seeing as they've fallen impossibly behind, consider Kenzaki and Shin dropped (unless there are any objections). Will have a new sheet up in a second.

I have also fallen way too far behind but I'm not yet withdrawing my characters. I must apologise for leaving DB hanging though.

  • Name: Mallory Gage
  • Age: 27; looks 14
  • Gender: Female (despite first appearances)
  • Appearance: "I got this for ya."
  • Kind: OC
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • The Ripple: Having been trained in the use of this supernatural martial art in Tibet, Mallory possesses the ability to simulate the wavelength of sunlight in her blood with a special breathing technique, creating a Ripple of solar energy that can be channeled into anything that she punches. Direct application of this anti-vampire technique is only lethal to beings adverse to sunlight. However, when a sufficient amount is channeled through a human, it will cause effects similar to extreme overexposure to sunlight - pins and needles, before unconsciousness. The effects of the Ripple are more pronounced on a physical scale - by sending it through substances, Mallory can stick things together, solidify water and defy the laws of physics. Uses seen include creating spinning razor-sharp discs of wine, inducing brief involuntary movements in animals and humans (apparently, could nerf), healing, setting things on fire, creating shockwaves, and climbing up wet walls. The potential uses of the Ripple are immense, and far too many to be listed in full here. Mallory's use of it involves quick, focused bursts of energy coupled with tactical movement to keep her opponent on their toes, worked into her fighting style. While not quite the same prodigy as say, the Joestars, she has gotten to around their level with the appropriate instruction and a whole lot of practice, and has a much sounder grasp of theory and the technical side of things. The Ripple is most effective on liquids (particularly oil) and organic substances. The most powerful techniques are termed Overdrives, and when one is used by an appropriately skilled fighter in water, it has been shown to be capable of blowing out a lake to about waist-deep. While it can be channeled through other things, the payoff will be much reduced but still rather effective. The main weakness of the Ripple is that it requires a sustained, calm flow of breath - if this is interrupted in any way, she will be rendered unable to use it. While she is incredibly good at this breathing thing (can run at least a mile on a single breath), cutting off her flow of air, poking a hole in her windpipe or otherwise depriving her of oxygen will render her Ripple abilities largely useless. The Ripple is also the reason why she looks 14. Also, she knows Kung Fu, because the Ripple is a martial art.

    • Brass Knuckles: Notably, she has a pair of spiked knuckledusters which she uses in combat - these are oiled up to conduct the Ripple better, and allow her to add even more force to her punches.

    • Bike and Revolver: She has a very large bike for riding on, and a very large gun for shooting people when the Ripple doesn't cut it. Enough said.

    • Oil Bottle: Going on from the idea of the Ripple conducting best in oil, she has a squeeze bottle filled with machine oil on her most of the time. Just because.

  • Side: Cosmos
  • World of Origin: ZA WARUDO (yes I went there) of Jojos Bizarre Adventure, circa 1930s'
  • Personality: She introduces herself to people as 'Mal,' to further facilitate gender confusion. Generally calm in the face of all danger, Mallory faces life with a hard-boiled air of assured, quiet confidence and (sometimes) a little knowing smile. She dresses up as a male partly because it was easier to ride around on a giant 1930s' motorcycle and hunt 1930s' vampires as a guy, partly because she found it amusing when people kept mistaking her gender. She's kind enough, however, if a bit quiet, and feels confident that the anti-aging properties of the Ripple will allow her to keep up her facade for quite a while longer. She smokes cigarettes with a passion, because 1930s', and speaks with a pronounced stereotypical 1930s' American drawl. She refuses to say whether she picked it up on purpose. When she actually gets into combat, however, she pulls out all the stops together with her trenchcoat, just so she can call the names of her attacks extremely loudly. She has a habit of picking up useful odds and ends and stowing them in her large pockets and the pouches around her belt. Despite appearances, she has an innate sense of justice - being very hard to faze, however, this seldom comes through.
  • Bio: Mallory's origin perished in the same way as her original identity - in mysterious and bloody circumstances. She didn't spend long angsting. Instead, she discovered her talent for the Ripple when she instinctively healed her broken leg at the age of fourteen. Noticed by a Ripple Master who had reached the area to investigate, she was taken to Tibet, where she spent the next eight years practicing to master her talent so that she could live in the only way she saw how - as a freelance Vampire Hunter. Having achieved proficiency (and snuck out to do live practice a few times), she took her leave in 1935 and went to work. The next four years were a constant series of brushes with near-death. However, she managed to survive quite fine, and developed a very hands-on, pragmatic and non-gimmicky form of the Ripple in the process. She was offered the chance to join Cosmos on the eve of World War Two, and complied willingly. Now, she masquerades as a mechanic in Dayton City, waiting for the chance to punch Chaos in the face with the power of life and the heat of the sun.

  • Name: John Shirkwood
  • Age: 20
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: will write this tomorrow
  • Kind: OC.
  • Powers: The Ginga Spark, allowing him to use Spark Dolls to take on the form and abilities of a monster or hero depicted by them. He'd start with powers from the aliens Dada, Valky, and Kemur.
  • Side: Cosmos
  • World of Origin: Earth
  • Personality: Had someone said Had someone said "Take this fancy trinket, these awesome monster dolls, and go beat up evil things" he would have jumped at the call. Granted, he'd probably ask to be paid for the use of his image, but that would just be to pay the bills. He's a man of moderate intelligence and has a patchwork knowledge of many subjects, mostly involving biology, computers, and physics, although nothing too specialized. He's torn between how awesome being a superhero is and how weird his various forms are.
  • Bio: An American with a love of all things superhero, he was watching TV when the remote was dragged under the couch by his kittens and he reached under, pulling out the Ginga Spark. Assuming it was just another trinket from his grandparents' travels, he reached under again and found the Spark Dolls for Dada, Kemur, and Valky, and was shortly thereafter contacted by Cosmos.

...and that's terrible.

This character won't replace John, but why not spruce this up a bit?

  • Name: Gaige
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: The Anarchist and her Death Robot
  • Kind: Canon
  • Powers:
    • Anarchy. As Gaige enters a fight, a custom-constructed power booster will amp up damage to her shotgun. Unfortunately, there was a slight error in construction - meaning Gaige will start tripping as she fights. Provided she fights long enough, her weapon will fire with extreme force, and Gaige in turn won't be aiming very will, and will have a god complex. An offshoot is Discord, which triggers every once in a while and allows Gaige to get a bit of focus (read: accuracy).
    • Deathtrap. Gaige has a prosthetic arm that has a digistruct booster for a robot she built herself, named Deathtrap. Deathtrap has digistruct claws and a long-range tesla bolt, and as Gaige goes on she will refabricate upgrades for him - which include shield restoration programs, lasers, balls of slag, the ability to cause explosive detonations by clapping, and other such things. Unfortunately, the digistruct battery isn't that stable - Deathtrap can only last for about a minute in combat before disappearing (provided he isn't destroyed, first), and then a lengthy cooldown period is needed to ensure it can be brought out safely again. While it can be resummoned at will or kept out for any length of time, overclocking DT's battery could result in an explosion.
    • Gaige is also an engineer prodigy.
  • Gear: A Jakobs Quad* is generally the only weapon she needs, though she carries a Tediore Plasma Caster* for when she feels like being accurate. She also carries a work hammer, a lunch box packing sandwiches, a few Insta-Health vials, and a couple of other things. Her smock holds her engineering kit, and she carries a few Bouncing Betty* grenades for when she needs to help clear a room.
  • Side: Cosmos
  • World of Origin: Borderlands
  • Personality: Gaige is a teenage girl. Her personality can be summed up in a few words: she might grow up to be a nymphomaniac, she spreads anarchy in combat, and she is a master engineer at age eighteen and shows no signs of stopping. Generally, Gaige is a fairly outgoing, very peppy, little girl. She looks weak - and if you think she's weak, you will very quickly learn that your preconceived notions of what teenage girls are is going to be very quickly shattered by a shotgun shell to the face. She also isn't afraid to stand up for herself and her friends, no matter who the "enemy" is, and if you act like an ass to her, she will return the favor.
  • Bio: Gaige was your average teenage girl, if said average teenage girl was an engineering mastermind. Living on Eden-5, she knew well what it was like to be bullied, so for her science fair, she built a robot called Deathtrap to act as the ultimate anti-bully deterrent. Unfortunately, her rival, Rich Bitch Marcy Holloway, bought her way through the fair, stole the plans for Deathtrap, and built a copy that earned her the win. When she went to gloat, Deathtrap made to smack her away. Unfortunately, there was a slight error in the coding for attacks - instead of being batted away harshly, Marcy Holloway exploded into a fountain of guts. Her father ended up sending her to Pandora to ride out the manhunt for her, where she stowed away on the train Handsome Jack blew up. After killing Handsome Jack and doing some other assorted adventures, Gaige was contacted by Cosmos to help save another world - and Gaige agreed to do so. Unfortunately, her fellow Vault Hunters could not be brought along with her - Gaige is on her own. So it's a good thing she has Deathtrap...

So. Suggest nerfs as needed.

This looks incredibly interesting...but I don't have a clue about what the point of this thing is. Maybe I needed to be around when the original was up, maybe I didn't read the OP very well, maybe I'm just an idiot, but could I perhaps get a slight recap as to what this is?

It's not a sequel and it has no connection to anything in the original JTTM. Think of it more as... Well, not a reboot, but more as a Spiritual Successor that just so happens to share the same name.

I must have misread it wrong.

Basically, one guy is on a warpath to make the Earth go through a Despair Event Horizon and turn it into a Crapsack World with the help of villains he gathered from many worlds. In response, his sister gathered an army of heroes from other worlds so that they could fight them. The story goes in a Monster of the Week format with occasional cool-down periods and PVP combat. There's a third party coming soon involving... I forgot, but it'd be based off dreams (and by extension, delusions) as well as a fourth that's allied to the good guy faction which is pretty much an expy of organizations like NERV and SHIELD.

Oh, so it's just Group B wants to make big boom, Group A stops them but sometimes don't cuz nothing's happening? Essentially, at least?

In that case, I'll join a bit later. But uh, canon-character wise, is there some sort of limit as to how powerful/weak they can be?

I'd say typically that's GM's discretion. Setting hard limits tends to make for arguments in these sorts of things about "but this person is arguably the same level of strength/less/more strong and THEY got accepted.'

though um...not the GM so yeah XD

I'm interested.

Might join in as Emil or some other Tales Series character. If that is not overpowered in any way. And I believe they aren't.

Well Emil is Warning:Spoilers about Tales Of Symphonia Dawn Of The New World An Amnesiac God of sorts.

But not currently. As I am nervous with high school starting soon and I have an exam right at the start.

Expect me somewhen after the 2th of September.

[up][up][up]That's basically the extent of it so far. We haven't gotten to the second arc yet, or the arc where the third party jumps in. We're just in our second in-between phase. And yeah. I had an experience or two where power limits led to some rather nasty fights, one of which was sort of similar to what Dblade is saying, so I usually do case-by-case basis for these things.

There are powers I will reject right out of the gate, though most of them are powers that translate to the attacks being more of an "I win" button.

Now I'm on the fence about joining, because a) I hate when I plop my character(s) in when a whole lot of stuff already happened and b) I can't really think of a decent character. I'll get back to you on it.

I'm gonna try.

Name: Lucille Sona

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Appearance: Thick, long, curly black hair. Has a lot of freckles.Rather tall and average build, eyes that are an odd amber color, and a plain black shirt with yellow shorts. Perpetually grinning. Kind: OC

Powers: X-ray vision, which is controllable in 'layers', i.e. she can see through a wall in addition to your skeleton.

Side: Cosmos

World of Origin: She's pretty sure it's Earth.

Personality: Lucille is ecstatic. She spends the majority of her time laughing hysterically at stupid jokes and is never seen without her wide, braces-clad grin. She's a hardcore gamer, one of her self-told 'greatest achievements' being finishing Portal in one sitting. Twice. She has trouble expressing emotions that are not happiness, so if she's in pain, it will be accompanied by hysterical laughter. She's also quite childish and prone to being immature and annoying.

Bio: Lucille had an ostensibly normal upbringing, and her ability did not come to notice until she was about 6, at which point she may have just lived in a lab for all the research done on her and her ability. No explanation was ever found, and she learned to cope with happiness even during pain. She managed to escape at the age of 13, and used to hold a mundane convenience store job (before she was fired for making a fort out of the mac n' cheese displays) Shortly thereafter getting fired, she was contacted by Cosmos for her cunning in escape, but mistook it for 'hearing voices'. After the fourth time, she got the idea and joined, thinking she would finally get to do something cool with her powers.

is that ok
