Nearly finished◊ my Bat!pants and Bat!jacket. But without the batsymbol, cape, belt, or any mask I look like pretty much anyone.
Building up very nicely there, Lera.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)Thanks.
Unlike Batgirl, my Zatanna cosplay is not going well at all.
I was making the white dress gloves and was nearly finished with one glove before I tried it on. It was far too loose. I had the choice of ripping them apart to shorten the fourchettes, or just modifying the paper pattern so I could cut out a new pair of gloves.
I'm doing the latter. It's not like gloves take up a whole lot of fabric, anyway.
On the topic of cosplay, I thought I'd share with you all the cool outfits my characters wear toward the end of my third book. I hope y'all enjoy reading about them as I did coming up with them. Here they are. :)
1. Demetrios: White toga, brooch made of red gold and engraved with a dragon design, gold linen tunic, brown formal leather sandals, walking stick made of Norway maple wood with a bronze eagle head
2. Princess Lily:
- Halterneck (the kind that covers the neck) zebra-print dress
- Black silk opera glove on left arm; white silk opera glove on right arm
- Black leather knee-high boot with square toe and stiletto heel on right leg; white leather knee-high boot with square toe and stiletto heel on left leg
3. Max Stelling: He's dressed like a victorious Roman general. He wears a ceremonial leather cuirass over a red linen tunic and a red cape, with formal brown leather sandals.
4. Anna:
- A green form-fitting scoop neck silk dress
- A wide and loose gold silk sash around her waist so that it slips to one side
- A sheer green satin shawl wrapped around her arms and slung across her back
- These here sandals◊
5. Jack Colmar:
- Navy blue suit jacket with military badges
- White shirt
- Gold silk necktie with Persian flower design
- Navy blue pants
- Socks with brown and tan squares
- Brown shoes
6. Captain Michael Hunter: Prepare to have a good laugh about this one. The rough-&-tough soldier guy is going gothic. And here it is:
- Black top hat
- Burgundy Inverness cape
- Black jacket
- Ash grey shirt
- Red necktie with Persian flower design
- Black pants
- Black leather riding boots
- Walking stick made of ebony and topped with an octagonal-cut ruby
7. Anne-Marie Magaña:
- Mask; it's made of porcelain, it covers the upper half of her face, including her upper lip, has a cat nose and pointy cat ears on the top, and has black and orange tiger stripes
- This necklace, only with the diamonds being black instead of white
- Scoop neck tiger-print dress. Anne-Marie is as beautiful and elegant as a tiger, isn't she? :)
- Red opera gloves
- Silver ring with oval peridot on left ring finger (her wedding ring)
- Black leather knee-high boots with pointy toes and stiletto heels
8. Ashur Younan:
- Black suit jacket
- White and light blue plaid shirt
- Black and white silk necktie, where the black and white crisscrosses in such a way as to look like dots
- Black socks and shoes
9. Ruby:
- Pink silk spaghetti-strap dress
- Lilac leather obi belt
- Pink silk opera gloves
- Pink silk collar that covers her entire neck, similar to that one I saw in Harper's Bazaar magazine from October 1999
- Gold high heels
10. Amare Toure:
- Orange and yellow Hawaiian shirt
- Red-brown shorts
- Brown leather beach sandals
11. Frederick Adler:
- Prussian blue jacket as worn by European royalty & nobility
- Prussian blue pants
- Black socks and shoes
12. Aristotle: Royal blue Ionic chiton with yellow embroidery on the edges, brooch made of gold and engraved with an owl design
13. Arcturus: An outfit inspired by that worn by Dionysus, the party god:
- A laurel wreath, decorated with grape leaves, as a reference to Caravaggio's “Bacchus”
- Violet Doric-style chiton
- Brown casual leather sandals
14. Rosemary:
- Gold chain necklace with square-cut amber gemstone and matching earrings
- White satin wraparound dress
- White satin opera gloves
- Black & gold high heels that show the toes
15. Dante: An outfit similar to what Prince William wore when he married Kate Middleton, with the jacket being gold instead of red; he is a Paladin, after all
16. King Zasedis: Something reminiscent of the outfits worn by King Charles II of England, the Merry Monarch. After the defeat of the Dark Stone Cutters, he has plenty to be merry about. :) Only Zasedis isn't a hedonist, so he wears more formal pants and shoes.
17. Queen Sastiana: Something with the colors associated with Aphrodite. Sastiana is a very beautiful and loving queen. :)
- Violet Victorian era hat, decorated with three small roses (one red, one pink, and one sea green), silver feathers, and a black birdcage veil
- Silver satin turtleneck dress with the part above the bustline being sheer (as well as low-cut), and a slit in the left side of the skirt to a little above her knee
- Sea green satin opera gloves
- Red wine velvet knee-high boots with pointy toes and stiletto heels
18. Lynessa:
- Black velvet choker with rectangular-cut diamond in center
- Black snake pattern V-neck dress made of soft leather and lined with silk; the dress goes down to just above her knees
- Silver opera gloves
- Gold ring with Peruzzi cut rose quartz on left ring finger (her wedding ring)
- Black silk stockings
- Silver knee-high boots with square toes and stiletto heels
19. Michelle:
- Silver facial makeup in the style of a geisha with black eyeshadow and red lipstick. I chose silver because I thought white would be redundant on a pale vampire lady.
- Black satin choker
- Black satin ball gown
- The sleeves and the part that covers her upper chest and neck are sheer
- Silver piping/stitching design of fire on waist/torso section
- Black satin opera gloves
- Black leather lace-up ankle boots with pointy toes and stiletto heels
20. Lillukisen:
- A violet Chinese-style dress decorated with silver and white hyacinths
- Violet high heels
21. Toras Thunder-Axe:
- Violet and gold royal robe
- Dark brown leather boots
22. Kayla: A Gothic lolita outfit:
- This here hat◊
- This here dress◊
- Black silk crocheted cape
- A pair of black lace Fingerless Gloves that go up to her elbows, to once again show her being opposite of Michelle
- Silver ring with oval-cut ruby on right ring finger
- Silver coil bracelet (one circle) with sapphires on each end
- Black knee socks with white frills
- Black Mary Jane platform shoes
23. Kalegar:

- Blue necktie with lighter diagonal stripes
24. Hadrinar:
- Royal blue rube with the stitching of a bronze dragon

- Blue shirt
- Green necktie

I like to keep my audience riveted. Those are all a bit unusual. Why so many different fashion eras?
Progress on my Tigress shirt◊, about 80% finished. This was entirely handsewn since my machine would not cooperate with the spandex.
I thought they fit the characters' personalities, in addition to looking good. :)
I like to keep my audience riveted.Half-embroidered Batgirl jacket.◊ I'll finish the other half and then fix wobbly lines tomorrow.
Crossposting my embroidered jacket◊. And another angle.◊

Cool
hashtagsarestupidI don't do cosplay, but I am toying with refurbishing my old Overlander hat (the original, with crocodile teeth ) and parka into a Dust Devil-like outfit...
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Maybe I'll finally go and do the Thirteen Shirts project. For those who don't follow my Tumblr, Thirteen Shirts is a sendup of typical Vampire: The Masquerade Player Characters, based on a conversation I had with a friend of mine. I said something along the lines of “I’ll be wearing heavy boots, leather pants, leather coat… you know, the usual Vampire: The Masquerade Player Character attire.”
The idea is simple: wear pretty much the same things for every clan, and just change the shirt, props and make-up. Since there are thirteen clans in VtM, there'll be thirteen shirts. As of now, there are pretty much only three things I can't really do: Followers of Set, Nosferatu and Tzimisce. Nosferatu requires prosthetic make-up I can't afford, Tzimisce requires even more prosthetic make-up (since my idea of a Tzimisce "shirt" was going shirtless, covered in ritual scars and tattoos), and Setite requires, uh... a snake. Like, a real, live python.
I also wonder how androgynous should I go for the Toreador.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisI want/was later then dared to do an Interstellar cosplay, but I have no idea where to start. I have a month, or three months.
I'd like to do a cosplay of Armin Arlert, but I've never done a real cosplay before (I dressed up as Link one time for Halloween, but I wouldn't wear that to a serious con). Any ideas/tips?

Quite. The weather's pretty cool lately.
