The two that come to the top of my head are the Fatman from Fallout 3 and Crying Wolf's railgun from MGS 4. The prior weapon, though hard to justify using in most cases due to it's massive radius, makes for a hillarious weapon to use in towns heavily populated areas due to the mass chaos that ensues from it's use. The reason why I chose the railgun from MGS 4 was due to how versatile and destructive it is. Sure, it's hard as hell for snake to to carry and would be impractical for use in real life due to it's weight and bulk, but at full power that thing can instal-kill ANYTHING, except for the bosses!
Nevan from DMC 3. Melee weapons still count right?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Do purely cosmetic weapons count?
Because The Dreamer is an absolutely fabulous bow that can shoot exploding rainbow unicorns that can then explode into more exploding rainbow unicorns depending on the skill you're using with The Dreamer equipped. How can anyone not like it?

The best gun in history;
Gatling Gun from Shadow The Hedgehog. 40 bullets, good damage, and fun overall.
Needler from Halo. I love multi-hit weapons, honestly.
Razor Sword from Soul Calibur II and Majoras Mask. ...Let's be honest, the design is fabulous~. I love the thing.

...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.All the weapons in Painkiller. Seriously. It has a stakegun/grenade launcher. It also has a gun that shoots shuriken and lightning!
Melee and cosmetic weapons do indeed count.
And again, do try to give a brief reason as to why you love them.

Staying on topic with the Yahtzee references, I'd like to add the "Big Boner" from Shadows of the Damned to this list. Possibly one of the funniest video game weapons of the decade.
Apart from that, probably every damn weapon from Earthworm Jim, especially the sequel : the bubble gun still cracks me up, and the brick house gun is just AWESOME fueled with AWESOMESAUCE.
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here. The non-eutactic blade from Deus Ex. When you use a sword over machine guns, rifles and shotguns, you know it must be good.
For we shall slay evil with logic...Truth betold, even though it's a normal shotgun, the amount I've used the Marshall whilst playing Crysis 2 makes me feel like it's just... right.
Also, the Bonus Package so much.
Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.The Rock+Electricity combo from Kirby: The Crystal Shards.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatOkay, look, if we're talking Shadow The Hedgehog, we need to mention the Omochao gun and the satellite cannon. First one is an incredibly powerful gun that fires The Scrappy, second one is satellite death beam. I don't think anything more needs to be said.
On the subject of other games, Kirby Air Ride has the perma-spin powerup. Doesn't seem as flashy as weapons such as the Gordo or Plasma, but I get more kills with this weapon than any other simply because it has a huge range and people will often suicide into you because the effect is hard to notice.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderIf standard weapons only, then none really stand out. They are all just tools to kill. If modded weapons count, then this one. Seven days a week and twice on Sundays.

The Selenaire. Otherwise known as "Sorry mister Deathclaw, you seem to have lost your head."
Devastator Weapon from Duke Nukem 3D. Eats ammo, but looks cool and hurts hard. It's like dual-wielding storm bolters.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."The Vigoorian Flail from Ninja Gaiden. Because regular nunchaku aren't impractical enough.
Since both ends have scythe blades, you become a constantly spinning whirlwind of dismemberment that can get thirty hit combos with one aerial launch. Hayabusa's speed with these things is ridiculous. Honorable mention goes to the Kusari-Gama, which is neat because it can switch between wide sweeping attacks and single-target striking attacks on the fly.
Not to mention the Cerebral Bore from Turok. It takes Cruel and Unusual Death Up To Eleven.
Bleye knows Sabers.Metal Gear Rex. Metal Gear fans know damn well why.
Also nearly everything in Ratchet And Clank and Jak And Daxter, but if I have to choose specifics:
- R&C: Suck Cannon, animal rays, or Rift Inducer for sheer lulz.
- J&D: Blue Eco guns for sheer dakka; Jak 3 combo of Mass Inverter + Needle Laser, for sheer lulzy dakka. Also the Vulcan Fury in Jak 2 can lift the KG six feet into the air.

If the timer don't tick, the host musta quit.Soul Edge and Alraune from the Soul Series, Nevan and Pandora from Devil May Cry, Sai Fung from Bayonetta, Dabliharo and Lunar from Ninja Gaiden.

Mass Effect: The Spectre X assault rifle with two Frictionless Materials X mods and Polonium Rounds. It was a fully automatic, 100% accurate death cannon that never ran out of ammo, never had to be reloaded, and could cut right through even big enemies, like giant spider tanks, or sand worms bigger than buildings.
Half of the guns in Borderlands 2. Especially the ones that shoot explosives.
The pump action shotgun from Fallout New Vegas. Upgradable and powerful with cheap ammo. It also averts Short-Range Shotgun, even with the normal buckshot, and can be modded with a choke, an extended ammo tube, and different ammo types- including slugs, shots made from coin, and specialized EMP rounds. It's a great all-purpose weapon for any situation. Certain perks just make it cooler; add "bypasses armor" and "blows enemies across the room and onto their ass", as well as "reduces anything it hits to Ludicrous Gibs" to the list.
Two weapons from the Half Life series: first of all, the Super Gravity Gun (of course!) . Secondly, the sniper rifle from Opposing Force. It's got to be the most overpowered sniper rifle ever; it does more damage than the single shot rocket launcher and is always 100% accurate down to the molecule, even when not zoomed.
Last but not least, the Minigun from Serious Sam.

...Ratchet And Clank's got some of the best weapons ever. I'm a big fan of the sniper rifles in the second, third, and fourth games (when your sniper rifle is a better weapon against the Humongous Mecha final boss than the vehicles you're intended to use, you clearly have an amazing gun). Also, the Lava Gun family and various Tesla weapons are great.
In Half-Life 2, my favourite weapon is, far and away, the crossbow. It's a sniper crossbow that nails people to walls and embeds rebar 8 inches into a concrete wall, what more do you want?

Favorite Video Game weapons you ask?
Any sword in the first legend of zelda: It's a staple weapon in the game it's introduced in and useful on 95% of the enemies it's used on. Also, at full health, you get some pretty useful sword beams. Kinda bummed that Nintendo changed the sword beam a couple times, and that the magic projectile from the wand takes priority over the sword beam.
The Massacre from Iji: Let's just say there is a very good reason you get this weapon at the end of the game. Very good damage, and at the cost of half the armor bar.
The Punch Dagger from Strife: Upgradeable via stamina, silent, and good to avoid setting off alarms. If one builds this up enough, those acolytes are doomed to one hit death!
The Gravity gun from Half Life 2: Nothing like a good ol' sawblade to rip apart a headcrab zombie or mauling a combine with a toilet.
More to come, and I didn't try to link to avoid the risk of red linking. (Something I intend to avoid like the plague.)

Clan ER PPCs, Clan ER Large Lasers, and Clan RAC/20s. Those weapons are nice to put on most 'mechs. Otherwise, regular PPCs and LRMs are fine.
The Tomislav. Quick and dependable firepower any time, man. The Loose Cannon is also a favorite of mine, purely because it's actually more tactically flexible than the stats might suggest.
The SG '553' and the G3/SG-1. Both of them are my favorite sniping weapons.
The Fusion Mortar is nice for bombardment, too.

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI also forgot to mention, any and every man-portable minigun ever.
Random topic, but this is something I'd like to hear from you guys.
Video games, after all, are home to some of the coolest weapons ever created in fiction. However, magic spells and power-ups that only effect stats don't count. I'm talking about tangible weapons. So what are some of your favorites and why?
Might as well list a couple of mine here:
The VK-12 Shotgun: Best. Shotgun. Period. Why? At close range it can not only blow an enemy an half, but can vaporize them into mist. What's not to like?
The Rail Gun: Can take out multiple enemies with just one shot, and with one of the best sound-effects ever. Really, it is quite an underrated sniper weapon.
