The tale of a humble and celibate man living a good life with great wealth.
It doesn't fare well, do to the lack of conflict, and fails, however, it's a nice read, heartwarming even.

Space General
A man's sister is dying and the only cure is a drug fabled to be sold on the black market and that nobody seems to have ever come across. He travels to three continents following leads in search of the compound, eventually landing at the only place in the world where it is sold—a market in Western China whose name translates to "the Echo Bazaar"—only to be told the compound doesn't exist. He is then hustled, beat up, and left for dead. A local finds him and nurses him back into travelable condition, handing the man, over his protests, a small pouch, saying, "It is the least I can do". The man realizes it is the compound he has been searching for. Upon returning home, he is greeted with the fact that his sister has died while he was incapacitated, but the man then turns over the compound to a university in the hopes that research can be conducted to replicate the compound and other people's lives can be saved.
