Does Wonder Woman deserve her reputation?

[up] Superman DOES have the advantage of one outsized arch-nemesis though. Lex is all the Rogue's Gallery most people feel he needs, especially if you factor in him having Zod (in other media, rather than the comic as much). Supes also fights natural disaster. Tsunamis, earthquakes are also his enemies.

Batman fights the Joker and crime. Superman fights Lex, natural disaster and bank robbers. But the fact is, I don't think most of the general public, the non-comic, non-cartoon people, would have any idea what Wonder Woman DOES with her time.

Except maybe spin....

I remember I had an idea once where they could make a WW movie where Cheetah is sort of created by Circe, like she was a thief who got caught trying to steal from Circe and was made into her servant. It would tie her to Greek myth and ensure that a film with Cheetah as the villain would still have a large and credible threat for Diana.

Quite frankly, I can relate to the fact DC no longer tells stories that old Cheetah worked in. I would rather tell stories themed around an old religion with lots of iconic characters, monsters and settings than one around outdated psychological ideas that insinuated men were an inferior life form who somehow managed to keep wonder women down.

At least, the mythology thing works better in the shared universe clusterfuck we call the DCU, I understand that. What I do not is the inability to keep Cheetah a relevant in the public eye or come up with a replacement. I liked the idea of the Baroness being in powered armor. After she reforms I would have a guy find her armor and operate as the Red Panzer, her unwanted successor.

I am partial to Cheetah and Giganta getting their powers from something relating to Ethiopia-vacation spot of the Greek gods and their Cheetah/Leopard motif would makes sense then. Gudra I would leave alone (the detail, I would see her used more) Silver Swan I would make a willing villain rather than a victim and I would not make her so ugly/deformed (again, too victimizing. Let more women do wrong just because they can dammit!). Duke of Deception I had not considered but I do like the idea of him and Silver Swam being a sibling/cousin team under patriarch Ares. Queen of Fables is a crossover villain but I agree that she is probably an underused one.

The wrestler casting on the first page is humorous but is it a coincidence April Hunter wears so many leopard prints? A resentful, racist, misanthropic, giant sadist redhead with big boobs who is constantly overlooked in favor of less skilled models? Giganta is a role her whole career seems to have trained her for. Would you call up The Undertaker for a Preacher movie and not have him play the Saint of Killers? It would be a bigger a waste than a Preacher movie itself! I can get behind new rogues, Lynda Carter's run did just fine without most of her "classic" ones, but I doubt they would have if they had that kind of casting opportunity. (Greek model Trish Stratus or American Angel Sarah Del Rey as Wonder Woman and the script writes itself! Or maybe not, WWE and Hollywood have had eleven years and still have not done it.)

That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastes

Looking at the work Geoff Johns did for both Aquaman and Green Lantern I always loved the Counterpart groups he added. The Seven 7's the other Emotional Spectrum Corps. I think it could be interesting for a writer to introduce something similar in Wonder Woman's stories. Some other city-states, tribes and countries that the Gods kept going hidden away from Muggles.

I was suggesting April in relation to her height and athleticism but you're probably right.

I think the person who does not read comics simply assumes Wonder Woman fights crime too, or maybe whatever she did in the TV show (save Steve Trevor/USA officers/Wonder Girl) if they watched that. (a reputation she really doesn't deserve. I think Angleman is her only "common" criminal).

Edit: I just learned Alpha Female is 6'1, so she'd be a a more ideal(if less available) choice than Wesna, even if she's just as German.
