Interesting little game. Take a work, one of your favorite, one you hate, anything in between. Now remove the main character. It doesn't matter how. Maybe Harry in Harry Potter moved to Brazil before he got his school letter. Maybe Yorick Brown in Y The Last Man died along with everyone other dude. Maybe Saito from The Familiar Of Zero never got summoned by Louise.

Point is, they're gone. No longer appearing in this work. How do you think the story plays out without them? Does the story even take place at all? Decide!

  • Avatar The Last Airbender: The Fire Nation ends up completely destroying the world, upsetting the balance of the elements by killing off all the other benders, punching spirit fish in the face and killing the moon, cats and dogs living together. Mass hysteria.
  • Tommy: Nothing after the song "1921" happens. Instead, Captain Walker and his wife go on living with the knowledge that he murdered someone just to keep his wife, and the rest of their marriage is pretty much a horrible nightmare.
  • Doctor Who: The adventures of average modern British people in modern-day London!
  • Kool-Aid commercials: Contractors make a lot less business due to far fewer walls to fix.

[up]That's immediately what I thought of, actually.

Persona 2 IS- Well then I guess it would've ended in a very different way. surprised

Since Tatsuya isn't there, he would've never met Jun or other people, and I guess that Jun would be ok and not go nuts and EP would never happen.

Lord of the Rings without Frodo.

Everything goes to plan until Sam gets lost because he didn't trust Gollum, so Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas lead an army to their deaths in hope to draw Sauron's eye from a ring barer that isn't even there.

Buffy the vampire slayer sans Buffy;

FAITH the Vampire Slayer! The show plays out a lot the same except Angel never turns evil as they have their one night stand in season 1 episode 1. The Mayor would never have been as much of a threat. Willow would have realised she was a lesbian after she has a one night stand with Faith in season 1 episode 1. Dawn would have been the slayers adoptive mother rather than sister. Jonathan would never have formed the trio as he would become popular after his one night stand with Faith in season 1 episode 1. And finally Faith would be happy in season 6 as she would have actually been pulled out of hell.

But Sam wouldn't be there without Frodo. Without Frodo, Gandalf would have probably secured the ring from Bilbo when he left, or it would have been lost to his next of kin. Then, at the gathering, Boromir or someone would have had the ring, and lost out to its corruption midway through the journey.

The Room: Lisa wouldn't have an apartment to keep,Denny would probably be stoned,...and Mark would be more interesting,...no the whole movie would be more interesting.

My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic: Nightmare Moon would've taken over Equestria,Discord would've escaped even sooner and brought forth an Evil vs. Evil battle, and Canterlot would be a changeling empire. Oh yeah and the other 5 would probably Take A Level In Jerkass

The Land Before Time: Littlefoot's Mother wouldn't have died, and everyone would've made it to The Great Valley anyway,...well except maybe Cera and the other kids. Maybe the Sharptooth would've picked off some characters.

The Legend Of Korra: Amon and Tarrlok would've both destroyed Republic City, but since Amon's plan is nearly impossible thanks to non benders being able to produce benders,Tarrlok probably would've come out on top. But Masami wins.

No Country For Old Men: Remove Anton Chigurgh and pretty much everyone but Moss gets to live (the gangsters would still be on his tail for stealing the money anyway). Remove Moss and someone else will take the money and cause the cycle, but a lot less trouble would ensue. Remove Sheriff Bell,....nothing changes. But that's kind of the point

To Boldly Flee: No more Nostalgia Critic and Ma-Ti gets to wreak havoc,Spoony stays possessed. The Last Angry Film Geek doesn't get killed off,...and every other Critic just gets to do their jobs,...until SUCKA passes and screws them over

How The Grinch Stole Christmas: Either the town of Whoville celebrates Christmas as usual in peace they just go farther and farther down in materialistic asshattery

It: Remove Stan,....it's mostly just one less call for Mike in the future that's it. Remove Mike and everyone remains successful and alive. Remove Beverly and It still keeps physical form. Remove Bill and It would kill everyone off, since he had the drive to kill It.Remove Eddieand once again,It wins. Remove Ben or Richie,.....nothing changes just less phone calls for Mike, okay maybe Bev also goes farther down the slope of insanity without them.

Luke Skywalker dies in a speeder accident about a year before the day that would have changed his life. Owen Lars buys two slightly run-down driods from a Jawa clan and, while repairing them, the blue-white astromech plays an odd holo message. Owen doesn't think much of it and decides not to remove the droid's restraining bolt. The Empire comes knocking not long after, the droids are confiscated, the farmer and his wife shot. With the Death Star plans successfully recovered...

I realize now that this actually gets a bit complicated. They get the plans easily, but they also don't find the Rebel base... hmh.

Rebels are slowly worn down, Empire rules the galaxy, forever and ever. The End. grin

The Mummy (the 1932 one)*

: I'm taking the position that it's a pretty antagonist-centered movie and thus the "main character" is the mummy himself. So, Imhotep never rises from his grave and we're left with a romantic comedy about an archaeologist's son falling in love with a woman who is a reincarnated Egyptian princess.

The Legend Of Korra: Korra decides to not sneak out of the compound. The brothers end up on the street working for the triads once again and get their bending removed. They end up living in the underground hobo camp. Asami tries to escape after she dicovers what her father is up to, but is eventually captured. Tarrlok makes a series of increasingly brutal crackdowns on non-benders and the situation escalates into all out war earlier than Amon intended. The Equalists are eventually defeated, but not before Lin and the air family are all debent and Amon escapes. Republic City is left scarred and divided, with the non-benders oppressed under Tarrlok's new regime.

That ended up more depressing than I intended.

[up]Nothing would change,...actually scratch that,if Indie didn't do that stuff, neither the Nazis or Soviets would have found what they were looking for. They'd be fruitlessly wasting money and time. They wouldn't destroy the world.

Hell Indie never beats them and they destroy themselves each time anyway.

Speaking of other George Lucas stuff

Remove Anakin Skywalker and Palpatine still wins anyway,...and he gets to live on forever since they do not have the Chosen One to defeat him,Padme doesn't die giving birth to the people who pretty much ensure the defeat of him by crushing The Empire and helping Vader Heel–Face Turn.

Mobile Suit Gundam: White Base is destroyed along with its pilots but the war still ends in Federation favor since the mass-production GM is gonna come online either way and put the fight back against the Zekes. Interestingly since there's no Amuro-Char rivalry the Neo-Zeon movement likely never occurs or occurs too weakly to be of much threat.

Twenty Four: A lot of Mountain Lions go ignored. Terrorists attack and lose with increasingly bizarre ways.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica:

Madoka's mom gets a job out of the prefecture and they move, so she never meets the rest of the cast. Sayaka and Mami team up. Mami survives much longer than she did in the show. Homura contracts, too, and she joins forces with Mami and Sayaka. Sayaka becomes a witch. Mami flips her shit and kills Homura and herself. Then Kyouko takes over the town and survives until Walpurgis Night arrives.

...Damn. That's depressing.

Evangelion: Gendo unites the world against SEELE's wishes, and everything becomes one mind-melded blob of mind-orgy. That, or the angels cause 3rd Impact and kill everything before planting their form of life on the planet.

Jak and Daxter: Gol Acheron successfully enslaves the 3 other mages and becomes the supreme overlord of the world. Or the island, at least.

Kingdom Hearts: Riku becomes the chosen Keyblade wielder, but he's still corrupted by Maleficent and causes the rise of the Heartless.
