What hell hath Valve unleashed here today?
Routine looks chill.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!A really nice concept for developers to get more exposure for their games, increase their interaction with the comunitty and maybe even get the game on Steam. That is the idea, the reality is that a lot of people misunderstood it thinking it was a "propose game I want to see on Steam" and there is another lot who are jus trying to use the new system to troll.
A lot of the games don't even look like they should belong on Steam. The "Slender" and "Stairwell" SCP games are a good example - They're only about 15-25 minutes long and don't feature anything else other than what they show. If the idea is to just simply promote the game on Steam, not sell it, then I'm fine with that, but if it turns out that they're actually trying to make a buck out of them then forget it.
The idea is to get them into Steam, not necesarily as a paid game.
Yes, there are plenty of entirely free games on Steam. Not just free-to-play, but you actually don't have to pay for any part of them.
Mods not withstanding, the only one I know of is SUPER CRATE BOX.
I actually saw that Postal 2 is up in there. Checked the profile and the Running With Scissors site to make sure it's the real deal, and sure enough it is...

I now go by Graf von Tirol. Is that something good or bad?
One game I would like to see greenlighted is Tower Climb.

It was apparently unremarkable except for its reliance on Refuge in Audacity and Crossing the Line Twice.
There are apparently lots of joke submissions/offensive/unplayable game ones there, but they apparently remove lot of them fast
So nothing special except for being really controversial?

Plus the 3 dozen Slenderman games that have no idea what Slenderman is about.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally! Some people tried to play smart in submiting games they don't own, I have seen submisions for Counter Strike games :|
Yeah, it apeared on Steam this past Wednesday 29.

I'm not sure there was even much of a controversy about it. It didn't get rubbed in anybody's face by the publishers or devs so there wasn't much of a fuss.

Yeaaaaaaah, this system allows you to submit other's games so joke entries like that are kind of expected
I remember watching a video that put the Postal series between some of the most banned games by the Media Watchdogs, but then again I shouldn't trust a video on youtube.
There are some really good games between all the jokes and trolling and the games where actually submited by the developers.

Until they get some quality control, this isn't going to be huge. I mean, if anyone can submit anything, without proof that you own the game, or are able to make it, then there's no compulsion to vote.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.Some of the submisions can get a chuckle out of you but what VAL Ve really needs to implement is an "I don't care for this game" button so that it doesnt' appear in your games to rate search and you don't affect the game negativly.
Also, people vote for rater superficial reasons/down vote for superficial reasons :P(Like "Cover art is bad", "This looks like game [x]" and etc)
@Joaqs: They have a convenient section specifically for them ("Free to Play").
I saw No Time To Explain on Greenlight. I hope that gets through.
And now I see Yogventures and Blockade Runner there too!

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!
In a rare case of VAL Ve not using VAL Ve time (neither delaying nor realeasing early), Steam Greenlight has gone live. So far there are more than 250 submisions, some of them are you may recognize them from other places such as Desura and it's Indie Royale Bundle (for example Dino Run SE, Towns, Wyv and Keep) or because they are quitte famous like Project Zomboid (if it is greenlighted everyone who already owns it will receive it on Steam for free) or maybe the DLC parody game DLC Quest.
What are your favourites, the ones you would like to share or see greenlighted?
Greenlighted games can be found here.
Here is a list of some games that where featured in Indie Royale that are trying to be greenlighted:
Games Psyclone wants to see upvoted:
Games mentioned by Sgt Ricko:
Games that Shadow Scythe want them to make it to Steam:
Frayed Knights A light hearted dungeon cralwer.
Spooky Mask highlights:
From Fuzzy Boots:

Earl of Sandvich shared:
Onyhow:
Well, speaking of Notrium (work page)...really hope if there's Steam version there's some updates and such...it was freeware originally after all...need some incentives to actually buy...
Also, Mutant Mudds...
Also, also: TOME 4 (work page)...LOVE the game, but also another freeware getting in...
Naev (work page): Basically open-source version of Escape Velocity series, although with original content and implementation (the base mechanics are quite the same, but with things added)...the author says it'll be free even on Steam...
Rocket Dude recomended:
Cfive wants to see greenligthed:
Jetpack 2: Sequel to what was one of my all time favorites as a kid.
Incredipede: Looks like platforming meets World Of Goo. Great art style and music.
Wrack: Cartoony FPS that looks similar to XIII. Has modding tools and a soundtrack by none other than Bobby Prince.
The Five Cores: A gorgeous looking Myst-style game in realtime 3d.
Legends of the Old West: It's a really cool sounding text adventure. It uses oldschool DOS fonts and has a sort of non-linear open world style where you can get different jobs and stuff.
Bean's Quest: Oldschool platformer with great pixel art and fun looking gameplay. Some of the level design reminds me of the Famicom game "Armadillo"
Grapple: De Blob meets Spider-Man. Looks amazing.
Anodyne: Top-down adventure game done in the style of the Gameboy color Zeldas.
Project Downforce: Period-accurate SNES-style racing game. How many of those are out there?
Marvin's Mittens: I want to hug this game, it looks adorable.
Some games from well known franchises posted by the owners of the games:
Some interesting games:
Some games I would like to see Greenlighted:
