For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.

For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote  in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.

We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Tonight: A 1970's TV movie called The Horror at 37,000 Feet.

If the title sounds all too much like the classic episode of The Twilight Zone "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet," have a laugh that this, too, just so happens to star the one and only William Shatner (also Chuck Connors and Roy Thinnes).

What's the "horror" on board this particular flight? Old stones from an English abbey being shipped overseas unleashes ghosts on the airplane.

Alright, first up, I picked out more of (Rip Torn's) Ghost Stories and Gamesmaster to fire us up.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, it's as "TV" and as "early 70's" as early 70's TV movies can get. William Shatner and Chuck Connors star in The Horror at 37,000 Feet.

So, between his standup career and his successful, if rocky, film career, Eddie Murphy decided to be a pop singer a la Debarge. Here is the strangest song from Murphy's pop career, Behold "Party All The Time" by Eddie Murphy:

[up]Yeah, that's neither obscure nor some newfound revelation about Eddie Murphy. At least dig up some deep cuts, like these 1993 covers of "Good Day Sunshine" and "Hey Joe"

Anyway, last night's move got me thinking about something else we've watched a long time ago called 3: Heavy Metal ([awesome][awesome][awesome]), about terrorists/hackers who hijack a plane which also happens to have a sort Marilyn Manson band broadcasting a live concert on board it (and are streaming the event over the Internet). Real cheeseball shit. Starred Gabrielle Anwar, Rutger Hauer, and Joe Mantegna.

Well, now we're watching this series in reverse (not like there's any continuity in this franchise). The only real linking element to this and the third film is actor Craig Sheffer (star of Clive Barker's Nightbreed, [awesome][awesome][awesome]), and he's playing two completely different roles.

This one regards a plane hijacking and chemical weapons bomb on board the plane and stars Jennifer Beals, Turbulence 2: Fear of Flying.

Alright, test your luck with another round of Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, hosted by Jonathan Frakes.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, fasten your seat belts and keep your tray tables in their upright position. It's gonna be a bumpy flight in Turbulence 2: Fear of Flying.

Anticipate an early and expedited pre-show later tonight, before we kick off this movie at around 7:30 PM (EST)

For over ten years, the most I could tell you about tonight's movie is this "movie review" from Something Awful (worth "reading").

All I ever really gathered about this is it stars Christopher Lambert (in a wig), and at one point in time, this found itself on IMDb's Bottom 100 (It still holds a 2.7 rating, which just barely bumps it off the list, thanks to a handful of other worse 2.7-rated titles on the current list).

And that's about all I really feel I have to say about this. Apparently, this was filmed in English and French simultaneously, but the end result of the English version is nearly everybody in every scene being dubbed over so badly that it makes English-language versions of Godzilla movies seem completely natural.

Get ready for Druids.

So let's get started!

We'll begin a bit early with Bob Ross paining a happy little landscape.

Then, immediately following that, Christopher Lambert stars (with infrequent appearances from Max Von Sydow) in Druids (or, as it will be known tonight, Druids: 2001 Best Movie 2016 Oscar Winner - I love forehead).

[up]Point.

Anyway, I feel like revisiting something a bit "memorable" that we've seen before already... and that got me to The Burning—the first post-Friday the 13th slasher movie to really leave an impression for its more bloody displays of violence. It's not original, but it definitely upped the ante for the genre at the time.

Featuring a bunch of young nobodies named Jason Alexander, Fisher Stevens, and Holly Hunter. Music by Rick Wakeman(!!!) and effects makeup by the one and only Tom Savini.

...Also, the first-ever movie produced ("created") by Harvey Weinstein. I can't believe I didn't realize that the first time we watched this a long time ago. I was not expecting his name to appear in the credits at the end of this trailer.

So, harken back to 2002. Pixar, Fellowship of the Ring and X-Men were making huge strides in cinematic CGI the previous year, and the PS 2, Nintendo Gamecube, and Sega Dreamcast were pushing the limits of gaming technology with [then-] stunning realistic graphics.

Then this comes out.

Meant as a launching point with another TV movie featuring these characters, this 2002 Christmas special was the brainchild of Wolf Tracer Studios. It was only shown once on satellite WB networks and disappeared until it surfaced on Youtube in 2015.

Despite the extremely-low budget animation quality, it managed to wrangle some big name actors and voice actors, including Mark Hamill, Gray Delisle, Beauty and The Beast 's Page O'Hara, The Little Mermaid 's Jodi Benson, and Nancy Cartwright, who even shares a production credit. Whitney Huston is even rumored to have been reached to compose a score for this.

This holiday season for a preshow, I submit to you the abomination that has only 1.4 out of 10 stars on IMDB, ''Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe In Santa":

EDIT: Also, this may be my favorite explanation for Tommy Wiseau's existence yet.

Anyway, We'll kick off with more old episodes of Gamesmaster and Action Man.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we revisit the first-ever movie Harvey Weinstein got his greasy paws all over, The Burning ([awesome][awesome][awesome]).

I actually wish I could be around to catch this one.

Here's another 70's blaxploitation film, starring ex-football player Timothy Brown as a Las Vegas policeman who goes by the name "'Kicks' Carter" and... ultimately going toe-to-toe with Russ Tamblyn.

I'd give this a watch just for Tamblyn. Hell, I'd even rewatch that utter "non-performance" he phoned in for War of the Gargantuas ([awesome][awesome]).

This is Black Heat...

Even a brief glimpse of trees shaped oddly like mushrooms couldn't save this movie.

Black Heat just wasn't hot enough to earn more than ★. One person said they'd almost give it a 2, and one gave it a 2 for the music.

Yeah. The 70s pop made those scenes even worse, by implying they weren't meant to be taken seriously.

4x[up]How much compared to Mantis Fists and Tiger Claws of Shaolin ([awesome][awesome])? IMO, rape content only spells trouble for a work of fiction when its made synonymous with a story's basic premise. When you have to summarize a movie like Mantis Fists to somebody who has never heard of it before and start off with the words, "Every time this woman gets raped...", THAT is a truly bad sign.

And on that awkward note...

Oh, Ho-Oh-HOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo...

We're in for a real treat this Kung Fu Friday. Those of you who know your Tarantino may remember this title from Kill Bill, Vol. 2, where the daughter of Uma Thurman's and David Carradine's characters wants to watch this movie as a bedtime story.

Based on a Japanese manga and compiled together from two movies in a six-part Japanese movie series originally made in the 1970's, this is the English-dubbed story of a ronin and his four-year-old son wandering the countryside of feudal Japan as assassins for hire, embarking on a bloody journey of violence and death.

Starring Tomisaburo Wakayama, who we had seen previously in Ridley Scott's Black Rain ([awesome][awesome]) a couple months ago, as our masterless samurai protagonist.

This is Shogun Assassin.

[up]I was reading that earlier on IMDb. I'm not surprised to learn that GZA and the Wu-Tang Clan would be fans of this. Watching the trailer alone, I don't know why anybody wouldn't be a fan of this. Anyway...

Oh, Ho-Oh-HOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo...

We're kicking off a big, big Kung Fu Friday with two back-to-back episodes of mXc.

Then, at the top of the coming hour... Tomisaburo Wakayama is the most badass Ronin of all time in Shogun Assassin.
