For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.

For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote  in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.

We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

So, first, we Get the Picture. Then, after that, we trip out The Pill-Poppers (a 1970's anti-drug short film). Or perhaps we should do that in reverse.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, humanity becomes an Endangered Species. It's about damn time.

You've heard of music video tie-ins to movies, but have you seen this embarrassing mess?

M.C. Hammer promoting The Addams Family. Which includes him getting tortured a lot. And some really awkward lyrics. And... it's embarrassing. So it has to be seen.

Don't forget Tag Team's Addams Family-themed take on "Whoomp! There It Is" for the sequel. That had a music video as well.

Both of them won the Razzies for Worst Song of the Year, and were generally the worst parts of those movies - which were damn good otherwise.

Oh, Ho-Oh-HOOOOOOooooooooooo...

This week's Kung Fu Friday, we rewatch one of the absolute greatest martial arts movies we've ever showcased—perhaps, even the greatest legitimately good movie we've ever showcased.

This is the indisputably awesome, dyed-in-the-wool [awesome][awesome][awesome][awesome] classic Master of the Flying Guillotine, featuring badass muzak tracks from Neu! (surprisingly enough).

If you've never seen this one before, and you miss out on it again, then, as George Wood might say, "You are stupid!"

[up]Oh hey, that movie.

Yeah, they used Neu!'s "Super 16" (which is basically "Super" played at 16 RPM). Also, I wrote most of the page for Neu! (if I may shamelessly promote that page).

Oh-Ho-Oh-HOOOOOOOOoooooooooo...

Time to kick off Kung Fu Friday! You know it.

At the top of the coming hour, get ready to revisit the outstanding roaring rampage of revenge, Master of the Flying-Guillotine.

I left work early, at 3, to watch Mockingjay: Part 2 with my dad. It was awesome. I just got back and had dinner just now.

I feel weird about watching a movie right after I watched another movie, but hey.

I believe this one has been requested before. Tonight, it's the 80's teen romantic comedy where John Cusack turns suicidal after his girlfriend dumps him. Perhaps, he should let the paperboy just kill him already. This is Better Off Dead.

@This post:

I'd say my favourite film would either be that kung-fu film that had the phrase "Up in the sky like the sun in high noon." (the name escapes me at the moment) or The Wizard of Speed and Time.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about Wizard of Speed and Time; that one was pretty wacky but cool. Oh, Grand Theft Auto, too.

[up] To be fair, I found myself thinking of that line recently and the title wasn't coming to my mind, either.

Alright, we're taking it easy this Saturday night.

We'll be firing ourselves up with a round of the Nickelodeon game shows Get the Picture and Legends of the Hidden Temple. Then, at the top of the coming hour, we play the 80's classic Better Off Dead, starring John Cusack, and that guy who played "Booger" in the Revenge of the Nerds series.

Are you sitting down? This next sentence is gonna be a lot to digest.

Tonight, we're watching a mid-1990's action/sci-fi, loose remake of Casablanca in what was a conscious effort at the time to help Pamela Anderson transition from her television role on Baywatch and launch a career as a movie actress by casting her as a female analog of Humphrey Bogart's character, Rick Blaine.

On a different note, the film substitutes the World War II backdrop from Casablanca with a future "Second American Civil War" in 2017, so if you were looking for a glimpse of what would happen to the United States after President Trump is elected next year, here's your best possibility!

By the way, this pizza shit's called Barb Wire.

Got a recommendation.

A while back I started hearing Disney was making a live action remake of The Jungle Book. Which made me start thinking of a previous attempt of theirs at a live action version. Much like their live action version of 101 Dalmatians, a lot of the focus is taken off the animal characters and onto an expanded cast of human characters (none of whom are in the original book, of course). The plot revolves around an adult Mowgli being reintroduced to civilization by (mostly) well meaning white people. It's discovered he knows the location of a long lost city of gold (also not in the book), and a ruthless soldier and Great White Hunter stereotype tries to coerce him into leading him there. Starring Jason Scott Lee, Cary Elwes, Sam Neill, John Cleese, and an actress the trailer assures me isn't Kiera Knightly. Also directed by the guy who gave us the 1999 version of The Mummy.

My niece's birthday is today. She turns 4. I'll be at their house, not mine, and I don't know when I'll leave. I think she goes to bed at 8:30. I do know I'll be having dinner at their house.

[up] I hope not. Sitting through it all once would be exhaustive enough. Recapping the movie immediately afterward would be completely redundant and excessively cruel.

Plus, I don't think that highly of Doug Walker.

So we're lining up episodes of Superhuman Samurai SyberSquad and Legends of the Hidden Temple right now... but that won't be enough to prepare us for a sci-fi dystopian, action remake of Casablanca, starring Pamela Anderson as Rick Blaine. The head spins at the very thought.

It's Barb Wire at the top of the coming hour.

[up]There's a bit more to it than that.

Tonight's movie is Bedtime for Bonzo, starring Ronald Reagan in his best acting performance, before he was cast in the role of United States President in the 1980's.

And now you know why old Ronnie was nicknamed "Bonzo." This isn't just any other monkey comedy.

I should mention that the Medved Brothers (and yes, I know), in their sequel to The Golden Turkey Awards, mention that this is one of his best performances in a movie. This was used to introduce a chapter called "The Worst Movie Starring Ronald Reagan," including such classics as That Hagen Girl (where he plays the possible father/love interest of a teenaged Shirley Temple) and Hellcats of the Navy (the only film which he starred in with Nancy).

I'm definitely going to be here tonight.
