For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Yeah. I assume not Friday because it's really more "action movie" than "kung fu Friday movie", right? That music video was great.
Frankly, I see absolutely zero appeal in this. All it does is regurgitate the nonsense found in your average Asylum film and coat it in "wink-wink, we're sooo self-aware" hipster ejaculate. I'd rather watch Hobo with a Shotgun for the umpteenth time.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I think it depends on how well it's done. Birdemic 2 was awful because of its massive self-awareness. But sometimes stupid fun can be done well.
I think I'll pass, and wait for Turbo Kid instead, which smells equally cringeworthy, but less of an Uwe-Boll-like amalgamation of outdated Memes stolen from 4chan.
Not really. Aesthetic-wise it has little to nothing in common with Mad Max.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. The wide-reaching online viewing audience that's bound to be most receptive of Kung Fury is gonna be a turnoff, and the thought of this being turned into an overblown meme machine by the Internet's lowest common denominator has me weary.
But, as for the production team behind its making, I think they're cool. They have the same passion for watching corny B-movies and forgotten films that we do, and they've managed multiple blogs that celebrate the art form for years running.
When I look at Laserblast, I see ourselves. They just also took a step to pool some money together to start up a movie project and were successful at getting this completed through crowd-funding. And that, on the back of all the small donor support, they're still looking to offer up the finished project on YouTube for FREE, I say that's commendable.
So long as we think of Kung Fury as something made just for us (and shut out the rabble of the rest of the Internet), I'm hopeful it'll be something we will greatly appreciate.
Holy shit, there's a Birdemic 2? How the hell did I miss this?

Yeah, it has a sequel. And a third one is being made, in Vietnam.
The creator of Birdemic is a Vietnamese-American, who was totally serious when he made the first film. He found a distributor who recognized it for the cheesy trash that it was, and put it out there. However, for the second movie, well, let's just say that he now had a producer... one who insisted on putting in jokes that referenced the first movie, and a nude sequence just for the sake of having a nude sequence.
I found the sheer amount of self-referential and wink-wink humor to be a big turnoff. It just ruined the fun for me.
Yeah, I can recall a couple of sequels like that. Even "Turkish Star Wars" got a more tongue-in-cheek sequel made 30 years after the fact that we'd all like to forget about... and we did forget about it, so let's not speak of this again (it got a , for the record).
Anyway, we're rolling out more of Dale's Supermarket Sweep and Superhuman Samurai SyberSquad for our viewing displeasure.
And at the top of the coming hour, we prepare to see The Unseen.

if its on a saturday i wont be able to see it :/
the needs of the many...
(i see where youre coming from tape person, but like sean says i think their heart is in the right place. i usually hate intentional camp but this looks like its made with love in mind and not exploitation)
Just wanna say publicly that - I might be speaking for a few others - this is my current favorite place online, especially as the best place in the TV Tropes forum. A bright spot in the dim murkiness of the raging fandoms.
Thank you. I'm glad to hear somebody say this. We have a group identity all our own, and I'm happy to be proud of that.
Anyway, tonight should be a hell of a lot of fun. I don't want to explain why, in case anybody missed this in the chat last night, but once the trailer reveals enough of the plot premise... Boy, does it seem like a surprise!
I give you... 12:01
But we'll be watching it at 8:01.
Anywho, I suggest Thankskilling. The budget was $3500.
(Agender. They/Them pronouns.)Well shucks, Rock, it certainly means a lot to me and I'm sure many others to read you express such sentiment.
Best place on TV Tropes? Well... modesty be damned, that's what I'd like to hope. Call it an island of tranquility amid a sea of madness.
But best place ONLINE? Well now... that's certainly flattering. I'm certainly happy to have you aboard. Means a lot, it does.
War is God.First up, we got fun and games right now with more episodes of Legends of the Hidden Temple and Superhuman Samurai SyberSquad for our amusement (or lack thereof).
Then, at the top of the coming hour, from the director of the under-appreciated (but still godawful) Nightmare on Elm Street 2, we have "that guy from Weekend at Bernie's I & II" and the great Martin Landau appearing together and stuck in a time loop in 12:01.
I can't wait for this.

I wish 12:01 were more sci-fi-ish, and did more types of things with its premise. At first it felt sitcom-ish, then later became a thriller. It was a pretty strange movie. At the same time, those of you who missed it ended up missing out on a movie that squarely got ★★★.

Did someone request a .gif of an exploding Oscar Winner◊?
Anyway, tonight we got some Italian-made post-apocalyptic trash on offer as a downgraded alternative for all the (more deserved) Mad Max hype.
If IMDb's quotes page listings are any indication, the English dubbing/translation should be a standout. And, hey, we got Fred Williamson here!
I give you The New Barbarians (aka Warriors of the Wasteland)

I second land. We've gotta see Thankskilling at some point.
Sorry I've been absent the last few days; been playing the 360 and doing other stuff, but mostly sleeping. I should be here tonight, barring intervention from Mom.
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyNot gonna make it tonight. Vivien's got a concert to lipsync to because they lost their fucking voice and are speaking in the third person.
(Agender. They/Them pronouns.)Gonna try to be there ASAP. I think I may have seen tonight's movie in video form once at some dollar store ages ago.
Have fun at the show. Hope to have you around this weekend.
Anyway, we're getting things rolling now with new Retsupurae, more of the worst CGI animation ever made, and another episode of Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?
Then, at the top of the coming hour, we find out if The New Barbarians has what it takes to be deemed our definitive answer to Mad Max: Fury Road... or a disappointing follow-up to Neon City.

Italians had some strange ideas of what the future would be like After the End.
After the movie, we watched another episode of Turbo Teen that we hadn't seen before, which had me cracking up.
And I took these priceless GIFs:
Then I know what we'll have planned for this coming Saturday.
