Erika and Hime for blue colored Cures who are trolls and have a good eye for fashion. Tsubomi and Yayoi for crybaby Cures.

Watching Doki Doki Precure in the meantime.

So many bad decisions on the part of the characters. So many problems that could've been avoided if they didn't act like idiots or act all dumbstruck instead of dodging subsequent attacks.

Particularly egregious is the fact that they act so shocked and desperate every time stuff gets destroyed. Like the sculptures in episode 17, for example. They know that any damage caused by the enemy will be fixed once they purify it, and yet they act like it's a huge deal every time something gets destroyed.

I want to see Aguri and Ako interact because of them both being younger Cures who are also the Aloof Ally trope. Plus Aguri is technically a princess too because she was born from Marie-Ange's soul like Regina and thus they are both the Trump King's daughters.

Oh yeah, another thing I noticed is that the heroines are actually pretty overpowered. For most enemies, they just need their finisher to connect to end the battle. Of course, the stronger enemies can either take more punishment or take no damage whatsoever, but they usually get a power-up soon enough that makes this a non-issue.

It's more ridiculous than a Shounen battle manga/anime. :/

[up][up]Fights get better in the second half, but yeah they were horrible in the first half, around low level Smile fights. One of the many reasons I don't hold DokiDoki in high regard.

Let's see, there's also Karen/Itsuki/Reika/Mana for the student council president club. Saki/Kanade for working in a bakery. Mai/Yayoi for being artists. Yuri/Aguri, with Yuri meeting her in Ace form, just so that Yuri can almost be relieved that there is someone closer to her age in the group, only for that hope to be dashed.

Two days without internet and it seems I missed a lot everywhere.

I think Yuri can still have Aguri (and Ako because New Stage 2) as little sis that somewhat tryhard of being adult. She seems to attract that kind of people (who's that kid's name that has a crush on Yuri again?).

@ Doki Movie.

Uh... I got spoiled about many things in the movie like how the fairies in Doki are dead people and the clarinet is the mastermind, but I still want to see the exact details. I didn't catch that Alice was engaged several times (5, if I'm not mistaken?) for sake of business but rejected them, and the Jikochu reporter call back is hilarious.

One thing that really bothers me with the fairy being dead people reincarnated (which is pretty consistent with the Marie Ange reveal), then who are Charle, Requel, and Lance? They were born from Ange, right? ...! Okay, that's disturbing...

Apparently in the Doki Doki precure movie Matthew in dog form actually eventually bites down and gores mana into her shoulder and draws actual blood. The first time a pretty cure actually has such a brutal enough injury.

[up][up][up]That's why I mentioned Fridge Horror before. Maybe those three were children who died during the invasion. Which means that Marie-Ange didn't create them; she was just "protecting" their Psyches until their reincarnation process is complete.

Also, this opens a possibility that Davi might be Makoto's mother all along.

Makes me wonder where the hell did Joe get the transformation Lovies. Were they belong to Makoto's former teammates? And Joe scavenged them from their dead bodies?

Someone in /futaba/ and /a/ post Doki's artbook. Highlights;

- Alice's mother is named Shouko, and she also has a brother named Hiromichi. He still exists in series even though he never appears.

- There are things that didn't leave the storyboard; like how Alice is planned to go to the same school (get rejected because the writers want the group not always in flock), that Alice's brother is the student president before Mana and she looks up on him a lot, a romance subplot of Mana and Jun (which got rejected because Mana turns OOC) and the stranger one with Mana and Joe (and got rejected by the producer immediately), episode 10 is planned to be more "extreme" (Rikka's Jikochu?), and Alice's rejected engagements will get a focus episode.

- The other two Jikochu agents are Lust and Gohma (Japanese for pride). Died fighting Makopi's senior Cures in the Trump Kingdom. Makopi is a Cure for 1 month before Trump Kingdom is attacked. Didn't bond yet with her seniors before they died.

- The writers, chara designer, and director would like to make a slice of life spin-off of the epilogue. I think they want to draw the girls in winter clothes from the opening.

- The ancestors of Doki Cures are indeed for Tarot; Glaive's Cure is Magician and Crown's Cure is Priestess.

- Even the director (Koga) isn't sure of what kind of relationship Rikka and Ira have; he thinks that those two still don't have anything special and he would like to develop it a little, but he thinks it would be too "adult" for Precure (wat). Yamaguchi is basically ship this as a tragic starcrossed love story, but the development isn't going anywhere and he ends up disappointed.

- The ending is very different; the connection between Trump Kingdom and Earth severed, and Makopi and the fairies have to say goodbye in Makopi's last concert. Got rejected because of New Stage.

- Heart's initial design is very intricate merge of Rosetta's twintails and Ace's large ponytail, Diamond is basically the same, Rosetta has shorter twintails, Sword's hair is longer with many different strands sticking out and her dress is similar to Diamond, and Ace has a messier hair though still overall the same. She also looks younger, but that might be the coloring.

The entire thing is... a little unbelievable. They actually note several of my Fridge Logic and giving it a pretty acceptable responds, but the fact these guys cut several episodes worth of character development, both main and secondary, and changed them into Mana-centric show is rubbing me the wrong way.

Huh. So they could've been following the Saki and Kazuya plot for Mana and Alice's brother. If Nikaidou stayed the same as he is now, he would be the Kenta. The thing with Joe and Jun is like what I predicted in the WMG page LOL. But in the end, who did they settle with as Mana's Implied Love Interest?

Oh and I was right about the Tarot Motifs too.

Btw, this episode's Lovely did ridiculous attacks for yet another time. Punching Punch and Rising Sword. And for Twin Miracle Shoot, Lovely and Princess KICK their energy balls.

Next week's Cure is Pine!

This week's special guest is Aqua. So elegant. Yes 5 has gotten two reps while Suite and DokiDoki have gotten none. Okay. After last week's episode, Hime will try cooking for herself. And only by herself. Ribbon confirmed for maid again. What does Blue do exactly? We manage to get an instance of Megumi bursting in to help not being a good thing, causing Hime to overreact. A plot that wouldn't work with Mana. Yuuko's cameo, and Seiji gets to be part of an episode again. Hime is gaining confidence, only for it to be shot down. Has her machine gun ever done any good? Megumi's transformation is skipped. Then she continues to get even more awesome attacks. A giant fist and a large sword. Which means Cure Sword was preceded and succeeded by sword using Cures even though she never touched one. Classy. Combination attack was fine. Everyone learns their lessons, and the timeline s shot to hell. Only 7 episodes in and they already know each other for 100 days? If each episode averages a week, that's only 49 episodes. They're almost a third of the way through the year, and the show isn't even a fifth of the way done. Next week, Megumi finally meets Fortune.

New Stage 3 still looks interesting. Lots of character moments. Ace looked awesome. I have a theory regarding Honey. We know she appears in NS 3, but it should happen before Yuuko becomes Honey, barring any twists. Since the movie takes place inside a dream, I'm guessing Yuuko will be pulled into it and turned into Cure Honey for some reason. Just a preview for her.

Where'd you get 100 days from? I was watching it live and people were saying 100 hours so a bit over 4 days. And Hime is being stupid since people in the livestream said that they said it had been a week that passed inseries.

Subs said 100 days. It can't be 100 hours, as Megumi or Seiji would've had a snarkier response to that.

Okay, finished Dokidoki Pre Cure. The single most epic moment in the show was Cure Sword stopping the glaive mid-transformation, and that's saying a lot. The final battle reminded me of Digimon Xros Wars, what with the whole All Your Powers Combined thing going on.

Anyway, I can't seem to find the Dokidoki Pre Cure movie. Figured that since I watched the series, I might as well watch the movie too. I have lots of free time anyway.

The movie just came out on blue ray.

Expect subbers to get it in a week or so.

In the meantime, the other seasons would be a good watch, too.

In the meantime, I love the fights in Happiness Charge Pretty Cure.

They feel very heartcatch-ish in terms of style and over-the-topness.

Indicative enough in that the ratings for the series are significantly higher this time around then the past few seasons have been since, ironically, heartcatch.

That was one of the better moments. Anyway, the movie isn't out yet. I've seen the raws leaked just today, and it comes out on bluray on the 19th, so we'll probably get subs by next week at the latest.

Which series have you seen by the way?

[up] Just Dokidoki and Happiness Charge. I have Yes 5 Go Go downloaded, but I just realised it's a sequel...and there's no batch torrent for Yes 5, so I'm having second thoughts. The rest of the series have either a next to non-existent number of seeders, or no batch torrent.

The fights in Happiness Charge are definitely a step up. The heroines are still a tad overpowered, but at least it's not usually a Curb-Stomp Battle, and at least they actually have skills other than their finishers.

The pretty cure livejournal has a lot of them.

I love this track from heartcatch:

Maybe we'll get something similar in the new Sailor Moon anime, since Yasuharu Takanashi is the composer for it.

There's a batch for Yes 5. Curecom is a place to go looking for information on the series. Excellent choice if you choose Yes 5. Probably the most underrated season, at least in my opinion.

Edit: I like this from the Heartcatch movie.

Interesting. Though I don't really think of Megumi and Seiji as snarkers myself.

Also there is a Yes! 5 batch and the group that subbed it is currently redoing their subs though that might take awhile. If you look up Pretty Cure Splash Subs you can find the batch on their site. Might take awhile though as the batch is over a year old.

Ain't no cake like a Saiark cake. Loved the reactions.

And so, the Serial Escalation begins. A Combination Attack in episode 7? Seriously?

From the looks of it though, at least the villains aren't forgetting to level grind. The grunts still suck, but I don't think I've ever seen a show in which the protagonists get trashed the episode right after they get an upgrade (of sorts). Looks like they're gonna get bailed out by Cure Fortune.
