Renegade started it, Double Dragon made it work, Final Fight made it kick ass!

What's your favorite installment in the series, guys? And your favorite character?

Also: What's the deal with that beat down Guy serves Cody in front of Jessica at the end of the first game? I mean don't get me wrong, it's awesome, but he does his full auto combo and everything, and then ninja jumps out of frame XD

I wish they had 3's engine and movelist for something that could handle more than three enemies on the screen.

Yeah. Screw the SNES ports of the original game.

It kinda bugs me that they never used Maki's halter top-ish ninja tunic in all her other appearances. :/

This series was so great... and then we had crap like Revenge and Streetwise drive all of that greatness straight to China.

It is cool that Capcom is at least willing to acknowledge them every once in a while in the Street Fighter games, but it'd be even better if Capcom stopped trying to ripoff GTA and made a pure Final Fight experience for the current age. None of that urban, grim and gritty crap. Hell, just make Streetwise Canon Discontinuity and pick up the story some time after 3. It's really not that hard to wrap your head around a concept like that.

My favorite would have to be Guy, for obvious reasons. Probably one of my all-time faves in terms of Capcom characters. I was ecstatic when I learned he was in the Alpha series and SSFIV. Can you say, "main"? waii

3 would be my favorite game: it's the most polished and expansive (compare the leap from 1 to 2 with the leap between 2 and 3 in terms of everything), not to mention that it has co-op support.

Maki's Sexy Back was just too sexy, Schitzo. The other titles couldn't handle it. tongue

Also, the event in question was because Cody was ignoring Jessica. Guy was fed up with it and introduced Cody to the pavement so that Jessica could confront him.

My favorite installment in terms of overall presentation is the original. Its enemy variety and character designs were distinguished and memorable (with the glorious japanese arcade game campiness that made it what it was. This game also introduced me to Streets Of Fire), the level progression made you feel like you were always moving from point A to B even when you're spending a good 3 minutes on one screen, and its simplicity always feels like home. I also loved CD's soundtrack:

Though 3 had the best gameplay hands down, though. Guy is a complete ass kicker in that game.

My favorite character is Haggar, of course. My favorite mook is Axl/ Slash, for their overall coolness factor and my favorite boss is a tie between Rolento and Sodom.

I also liked Mighty Final Fight's ending, which shows Haggar, Guy and Cody's assholishness to each other a little better. Haggar spinning clothesline's Cody's ass out of frame, and talks with his daughter. Guy has to basically drag him out of the estate just to give them peace and quiet. Poor Cody XD

Possibly the game that invented mash-a-combos, thereby becoming the first recorded God of War ripoff in video game history.

-Spinning suplexes Actually Comma into the pavement-

I gotta say First Installment Wins for me when it comes to Final Fight, if only because i own the original arcade version on the PS 2, The SNES port, AND the game boy advance remake. The remake would be the PERFECT DEFINITIVE version of the game if it had poison and roxy in it but nooooo.

THEY NEED TO MAKE FINAL FIGHT FOUR. They need to make all the characters playable again in a 3D Beat 'em Up with bright and colorful graphics and they need to add ten million Discontinuity Nod to that piece of trash streetwise.

Hell, i even have an idea for the whole damn game in my head. Wish i could write. And draw. And program.

As for my fave character... It's Haggar. It's just. Haggar.

Cody doesn't get enough love. So what if he's The Mario? Knife fighting is a damn useful skill! It has a high attack rate, good range, and it hurts like hell! (though some enemies will be smart enough to stay out of the same Horizontal plane, causing you to throw it. Bastards.) I never did like what they did to him in the Alpha series, but it does show a lot of depth in his character, so I'll tolerate it (ten times better than the garbage they derailed him to in Streetwise)

What's up with the white dog (from the Bay Area) that keeps appearing here and there in the Street Fighter series whenever Metro City's represented? Is that a developer inside joke?

The dog's name, I believe, is Shiro (Japanese for white, as in his fur). I don't think it has any real importance, but according to supplemental materials, Guile once traveled to Metro City, where his dog became friends with Shiro.

Say what you will about Capcom: They certainly do have an eye for details. I always did like that about them.

I realizes I'm reviving an almost year old dead thread, but I had some thought about this series I wanted to express, so might as well do it here.

The Final Fight characters have been popping up a lot more in Capcom's other fighting games lately. It started with Cody and Guy being added to the SSFIV, then we got Haggar in MVC 3, and most recently Poison, Hugo, and Rolento made it into S Fx T, and each time there's been some sort of Final Fight themed stage, from Metro City construction site, to the alleys and the Mad Gear hideout.

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe one day soon, Capcom will develop another Final Fight game, a proper one that fits the tone of the original. Cody, Guy, Haggar, Poison, Hugo, and Rolento have all made recent, playable appearances, so they already have a solid character base to work off of. I could say that they could make another Final Fight fighting game that isn't like Revenge, but they would have to do a lot to differentiate it from Street Fighter. Maybe just an old school beat'em up, but with 2.5D graphics. That sounds more like a downloadable game though.

Cody has been my favorite character, but Haggar is a real close second. I never played much of the original games, but I got Double Impact and I loved it.

You should give Final Fight 3 a try. It's got varied move lists, branching paths and Haggar and Guy are better than ever (except for that weird ponytail of Haggar's.

Well with this weird bumping for this thread out of the way, I do want to ask;

With the success of Streets of Rage 4, would you guys want a new Final Fight game in a similar style? By which I mean a retro throwback to the older games, with some modern utilizations of course.

Also, are there any Final Fight characters that haven't been made playable in a Street Fighter game yet that you would love to see? Me, I'm still hoping for Hunter.

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.
