[up][up] The reason I think it's Go-Busters is that both shows have killer robots that can also travel through cyberspace and have an iPad that contains a floating head.

It dips a bit into Akibaranger if you think about the retool... It had the heroine's father being a mad scientist and everything! All that needs to happen now is "suddenly alien invasion!"

It already did that actually.tongue

Edit: WHY THE HELL IS IS RED TEXT!? I KNOW THE DAMNED PAGE IS THERE!!!!

Edit 2: [down] Oh. Well, my link makes the point anyway. Drive has already dealt with an alien invasion.

The title is too long, it runs into an automatic linebreaker. It's a common thing on the forum with long links.

sad The podcast I like to listen to isn't updating this week. Granted it normally updates every two weeks but they said they'd post an episode focusing on SHT GP today but that's been delayed due to technical difficulties.

Does anyone else know of any Kamen Rider Podcast? The one I'm following is unKamenCast-RX! but I'm looking for others.

I would recommend Rider Club radio if you are looking for rider podcasts, they started around halfway through drive and have been covering drive since along with other rider series they are watching as well.

There is also the greatest named Toku podcast groupever, Henshinanigans although they cover a more broad topic of things and I haven;t watched those guys so I can't say how they are.

Edit: just remembered Henshin justice unlimited has their own podcast as well.

So here's a thought for more american rider shows:

What would some of them be called?

I've with Kamen Rider Astro (after the Astro switches, though I didn't even make that connection at the time) for Fourze myself.

Wizard would likely keep his name, as it says everything about him really. Drive might be the same.

Guys like Kuuga and Agito are trickier, but they are also pretty old, so we might not see them at all. Can't think of anything for Faiz either (though they could try and keep the number theme).

Kamen Rider Double might keep his name if they keep the two riders in one concept, or they could go with synonym that sounds good.

When I talked about adapting Rider shows over to US-versions in the style of Dragon Knight, I suggested Gemini as an option for Double.

What you'd rename Kuuga or Agito to, depends on what kind of new story you make using the available stock footage.

Faiz, if you wanted to go RPM-style and set the whole series in the world of The Movie, could be called "Kamen Rider Apocalypse", and then have the Riders pretty much still named the same as in the original version.

Podcasts: I listen to Riders, Rangers and Rambles, which is more a general toku podcast. It also covers a lot of other popular shows like Flash, Arrow and The Walking Dead.

[up][up]

Hmm, going the apocalyptic route could be used to justify why the Faiz, and Kaixa tech (the phone, the Camera and the Flashlight) all look so old.

Say it was created a long time ago, but due to shit getting real, they were a few years late in fielding it.

I've said before, that outside of Blade as an obvious follow-up, Faiz could be a logical attempt by Earth to create it's own Rider tech. But going full on Alternate Universe (taking into consideration that they turned the mirror world into a full world that had people in it at one point instead of an empty world that only impersonated the real world), they could even still try and tie it into Dragon Knight if they want to, but your method works as well.

I've said it before, but the hardest series to adapt would be Gaim. It's much darker than it looks, but the fruit theme would make it near impossible to take seriously, and that would hurt it in the long run.

You want an American Kamen Rider adaptation? I have an idea.

Set it in the 70s. Tachibana Tobei immigrated into the US due to Japan's messed up political/economic state. There, he met a young man, who is to be the Hongo Takeshi of the series.

He's black. As you know, the racism in those era were WAY overkill; recent events shows that it still is, but I read that back then they were... well, more depressing.

Kamen Rider is about a man turned into a monster who fights against his creator. What if the hero is someone who wasn't considered human to begin with at the time?

Obviously, this kind of theme would be rated M, but this is the only idea I have that WILL work.

The Ichimonji Hayato could be a Mexican freelance photographer.

I think San Francisco is a good setting, since I read that there were more Japanese immigrants there. Imagine doing all those chases in the crazy slopes that city has. Ooh, riding on top of the Golden Gate cables like in Kamen Rider Spirits!

[up]I think The '70s actually wouldn't be that bad. At least, in comparison to the decades immediately before it.

[up][up]If there's no way to take it seriously, then don't (except when you do). Make it hamfistedly cheesy and Hot-Blooded, so that the darkness and the seriousness sneaks up on the viewers from behind.

Basically, in the style of Mobile Fighter G Gundam.

Realistically speaking if they were to adapt another Kamen Rider series for America they would do one with more than two Riders so they can sell more merchandise. Since they already made Ryuki into Dragon Knight that leaves Wizard, Drive and a few others.

With that in mind I have some ideas for how Wizard could be adapted.

Our hero [insert name here] is a composite character of Haruto and Shunpei. I'm thinking Haruto's personality but with Shunpei's motivations. I'm thinking he's someone who always wanted to be able to do magic and struggles to be able to do so throughout the series.

I'm also thinking the basic background from the original show would be the same but the finer details would be different. I'd probably combine Koyomi and Mayu into a composite character as well. Maybe have it so that Koyomi's counterpart becomes Mage with the intent to avenge her family after Medusa kills them and I would probably make Medusa the White Wizard/Wiseman's daughter in this version to add another dimension to her character. This would probably require our cast to befriend her without being aware of her true form until she started to fall apart towards the end of the series.

Beast could play a similar role as in the original Japanese though I'd probably also make him our Rinko counterpart's younger brother in order to better tie him into the main cast. Speaking of which the Rinko stand in would get an expanded role and would probably help out by fighting alongside Wizard and Beast more often or by finding out who the Gate being targeted is.

The blue and green Mage suits would probably be their own Riders as well. I'm thinking they could be modified and given to Medusa and Gremlin as powerups. I don't know what I'd do if that didn't work though.

There are other things that could be done but those are the basics.

I like that idea.

I was actually also thinking you could make the Haruto counterpart an actual illusionist (in an attempt to get a close to real magic as possible), so as to add another dimension to how he does things. Maybe a stunt man as well to give him a background in Martial Arts.

Haruto seemed a little flashier than the other riders, so making his american counterpart a stage magician made sense to me at least.

In addition to being a more recent series, Wizard is another potential follow-up to Dragon Knight (while being different enough in how it's monster are used to set it apart).

And with Wizard being a show about magic, from there it'd be easier to bridge over into vampires...

Saw this Ghost PV posted on Tumblr. While I'm still not sold on his basic design his blue and red ones look good in motion. Still not sure if I'm going to pick it up or not though. That ending to the video leaves much to be desired.

....

Should have made that coat longer. I'm also iffy on the design, but we'll see how the series goes.

I haven't skipped a rider series since Fourze, so I'm hoping I won't have to start now.

Edit: I just watched the Kamen Rider Faiz Hyper Battle Video.

........

Well, that happened.

It's a HBV, what do you expect?

The Ghost video is kind of fun but as it's a dream sequence they're not giving away much. We just get some good looks at his forms and some basic foes. Also the best gif.

And since they are still tied to Gaim, and soon Ghost, it makes sense for an army of Riders to exist.

..... They should see about getting funding from Yggdrasil.

Foundation X probably aren't the best people to call, what with that pesky evil thing.

And on that subject I watched some more Fourze and Movie War Megamax. Haven't actually seen OOO yet but it was pretty fun regardless. Super Galaxy King is a nice monster design - a kaiju with a henshin belt is a cool twist on the normal setup. Nadeshiko was a kind of interesting character (although Gentaro instantly falling for her felt very awkward) but her dying (well, sorta) is one of many bad marks on the whole female rider thing.

Well then, guess what?

Although Gaim would drop the ball again on that front, which is the only real mistake I felt it made.
