This thread is to request that a locked article be unlocked. Please read the guidelines below before making a request.
- Please see Locked Pages and Permanent Redlink Club first. If an article is on the Permanent Redlink Club, it will not be unlocked, ever.
- Pages cut a while ago were automatically locked. Before asking for an unlock, make sure that the article you want to create is in the proper Namespace, has gone through YKTTW if it's a trope, and otherwise fulfills our guidelines for Creating New Pages.
- If you just want to make an edit to an article, post here instead.
- Don't ask for new Main redirects. Those are only for old articles with lots of existing inbounds.
Original post
I'll start it off: could someone please unlock Hootie And The Blowfish so I can make a new page on it? The last page was cut for being copypasta from Wikipedia.

The section for The Dev Team Thinks of Everything on the Animal Crossing page is huge, so I wanted to move it to its own page, but TheDevTeamThinksOfEverything.AnimalCrossing is locked. Can it be unlocked so that the stuff on the main page can go on there?
I was about to move Antivillain.Web Originals to Antivillain.Web Original, but the latter page is locked. It looks like the former is the only subpage with that exact title.note Couldn't find Antivillain.Web Original on the permanent redlinks page.
Not right away, not right awayI unlocked it. It was cut back when doing so automatically locked the article.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Thanks, moving it now.
Not right away, not right awayI'm sure My Immortal can stand to be unlocked now. People seem better behaved, and less likely to spam it with natter and in-jokes, than was the case when it was locked.
You really think so? Show of hands, who agrees?
But more importantly, why is it necessary to unlock something that's so far in the past? What could possibly need to be added?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Checking the "related" tab shows lots and lots of tropes that list it as an example, but their examples aren't on the work's page. And despite the work's quality or lack thereof, 40+ chapters is a lot of room for people to find examples of tropes not already listed. This isn't a case like Sonichu where the work is dead but trolling community is still running with it.
On two minds here. On the one hand, I never buy "it doesn't need additions" arguments - they have been wrong too many times in the past and the disagreement between number of wicks and on-page bullets reinforces that view, plus the edit requests thread is not visible enough in my experience. On the other hand, these pages tend to become chronic problem children if unlocked. What is the guarantee that this one won't?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman"What is the guarantee that this one won't?" It's been my experience, more often than not, that people don't repeat their mistakes once a formerly locked page gets unlocked. Maybe that's just the nature of the pages I've asked to have unlocked before (e.g., Wikipedia). Newer troll fics such as Cupcakes usually seem to have their pages stay unlocked just fine without attracting flame wars or "witty" natter.
I feel like an important consideration is that it is far in the past. Admittedly, I don't often hang out in the Harry Potter fandom, but I don't see nearly as much snarking about the fic now than I did three or four years ago. It's possible that a lot of its fans/detractors/whatever have settled down by now.
That said, I'm not 100% convinced that it won't be a problem. I just feel the odds are in our favor.
"He's a detective that breaks all the rules. She's an officer consumed with revenge. Together, they're... fired. They're awful cops."I've been getting some emails from readers of my webcomic (A Game of Roleplay) about the TV Tropes page being blocked from editing. I thought I'd do some looking into it seeing as it's sort of my responcibility... I guess. I've been redirected here so I guess I'm asking for it to be unlocked.
Here's the link in case that's necissary: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Webcomic/AGameOfRoleplay
Done, but fair warning: The troublemaker that caused the lock is still around, so it might be re-locked again soon.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo it seems like there is agreement to unlock My Immortal, as per the posts above me. Think that's enough to warrant an unlock now?
Requesting League of Super Redundant Heroes and Léonard le Génie to be unlocked. He-Who's-Too-Stupid-to-Be-Named should have forgotten about them by now and leave them alone.
You might want to unlock the YMMV page of Naruto. The manga just ended and the final few chapters (and the epilogue in particular) is just swimming in YMMV related tropes that are sorely missing and there is no way they could all be added via requests.
Not to mention the page itself is pretty outdated overall, with the last edit from this July. There is a slight chance of edit-wars since feelings regarding the series would still be pretty fresh, but since the series is over with definitive Babies Ever After pairings, at least the shippers won't be trampling around anymore, and I would say it's better to have a problematic but relevant article than a completely outdated one.

^^Done. Let's see if we can run the risk.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI haven't heard anything either way yet on unlocking My Immortal. It seems that other people want it unlocked too.
Still waiting for a response on unlocking FilmCow
I would like consideration at least to be given to unlocking Inheritance Cycle. The series ended ages ago, the furor over it has long died down. If a few people on occasion cause problems then they can be warned or blocked as needed. If it really ends up becoming a problem again, then it can be locked again, but, man, if Rebecca Black can be left without a lock, then I think this can too.

New theme music also a boxMy Immortal: Issues not yet addressed.
YMMV.Film Cow: It's a creator page. These don't get YMMV items.
Inheritance Cycle: Before starting a discussion, has all the drama and hate about it died down?
Scandinavia and the World: A dear friend of us who just doesn't want to leave the formatting alone.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSeptimus, regarding Inheritance, if not the hate, then I think certainly the drama. The final book in the series was published over three years ago. It's certainly not a hotbed of attention anymore and those looking to rabble-rouse have likely moved on to something else. Also, it's worth noting that both the characters and quotes subpages for the series have remained unlocked and neither of them seem to be attracting vandalism or other problems.
Done.
