Okay, here is a concept for a very short story. So, guys, please help me with this.

A boy frozen in time during a car accident. As in, literally frozen in time. Time doesn't move. Except, he can still feel and think. How long he was frozen, and how much time went without a direct frame of reference, is what he questions mostly. Of course other things happens after a while.

So, what do you think. Bad or Good? Needs a revamp?

A musical set during the height of a civil war as told through the perspective of a promising loyalist soldier turned double agent. As the story progresses, the soldier faces the consequences of his actions and questions the motives of both the insurgents and his superiors as the state goes deeper and deeper into chaos.

Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.

A take on the Narnia style "magical land", a light deconstruction if you will.

Our protagonist, a loner who is a bit of a jerk, is transported to another world along with his only friend and estranged brother. This world is home to giant zeppelins, creatures from Greek myth, genies, goblins and steampunk/clockpunk tech. He sets out to find his brother and friend and return home.

In the process he begins to realize who he really is and decides he needs to change. As he conquers his predujices and misconceptions, he slowly begins to fill the role of the hero, something he never intended to be. He is joined by Orion the blind, legendary hunter and Icarus, a cocky airship captain. He finds himself in the role of a leader, trying to find a way for peace in a world that the black and white are running into gray.

Thoughts? The plot needs more work, more interested in thoughts on the setting.

Some people think I'm strange. I think it's sad that they can't see all the awesome stuff going on in my head right now.

In 1980, in an Alternate Universe containing immortal individuals, Magitek, and rituals for summoning demons, the Cold War goes hot on some ice between Alaska and Siberia. Santa Claus is caught in the middle.

[up][up][up]Vyral Cyst Sounds very interesting.I like that kind of works. Im interested in reading about it.

[up][up]Matthias Pendragon Sounds more like a reconstruction to me. Well, i like the concept, but there something i dont like... but i cant find what it its.

[up] DA Student, Sounds like Narm to me. I cant imagine Santa Claus in the cold war.

Ok, lets see.My concept is: A God-Like entity, after waking from a dream, talk to one of his servants about the abrahamic God world.

He dont like the creation, and wonder why the God didn´t send the world to the void by now, if it its so imperfect.

A few short story concepts that I'm tinkering with:

  • A man and a woman play hide-and-seek in a quiet plaza; things go awry in progressively weirder ways.
  • An eccentric collects and catalogues skulls of various species, some of which may not exist.
  • A staircase (and second building beyond it) appears in a tenement closet; the renter therein pontificates.

The concepts and plot bunnies I'm toying with:

1) A series that is a subversion of "superhero" stories (mostly the X-men films) and tropes, with a dash of Alfred Bester-type esper stories and fiction. Sprinkle in some X-files, District 9 and season with Seinfeld. It's a biting tribute to the 90's.

2) A science-fiction 'verse that is a tribute to the early "suck" of Season 1&2 Star Trek TNG, but after Growing the Beard, the genre savvy 'verse inhabitants end "Season One" on a positive note (getting more late season TNG/Good TOS Trek and Babylon 5). Think Trek, Evangelion, Babylon 5, Blade Runner and plenty of anime tropes tossed in. It's the Show Within a Show of 'verse 1) [up]above with the "writers" trying to comment on "current events" using the "show". Several of the main characters are cyborg/artificial humans who's place in society mirror the espers and mutants people from concept 1).

This concept or idea has been with me for a long, long time now. The actual text still not having been started, only sketches, scenes, bits of dialog and remarks exist in physical form.

A man comes home one day, only to find that his house, seemingly normal from the outside, has been completely transformed from the inside. Different furniture, different layout of rooms, interior decoration etc etc. Total alienation in his material existence leads to a similarly complete detachment of his mental landscape. As a result he starts traveling Tallinn beginning with the goal to "find his furniture", only for things to start getting more and more surreal and weird as the material and mental alienation from his own self starts affecting seemingly the entire world. (Or simply how it presents itself to him - no practical difference though)

All of this is framed with an old Estonian myth of the Ülemise lake old man, who is destined to come and flood Tallinn once it is "complete". And dripping faucets. Dripping faucets are a huge thing.

Generally about how one constructs ones Umwelt - or world as it is presented to us. How much of it is dictated by our surroundings and how much of it is a creative process done by us. Of course also the problem of solipsism runs through this narrative. The end result will probably be a pretty confusing and disjointed narrative consisting of scenes and little stories and encounters that our protagonist goes through with a lot of different imagery and themes possible to be incorporated into this general idea. The problem is more or less actually to choose which of the things possible to do, I actually want to incorporate to the final version.

Although there likely will be no final version, considering how I am going about this now.

Working and brainstorming for an idea that I would like to make into a visual novel:

A group of teenagers from different eras of time all wake up from stasis on a gigantic abandoned space-station, currently managed by a friendly and motherly A.I. They try to piece together what happened there and their connections to it all, but then there is a murder among the group.

[up][up][up]That sounds like one hell of a Mind Screw, but it would probably be pretty awesome.

[up]I love the "different eras" part. So you could have like, a Victorian character, a caveman, a cyberpunk kid, etc? Awesome.

I'll post my concept a bit later.

Here's the general concept of my fantasy story, and info about the main characters.

On the planet Entoras, prophecy is everything. When children reach the age of twelve, they receive a prophecy stone, which is magically filled by the gods to reveal their fate. Those with prophecies of heroism go on to become legends, while those whose paths lies in the shadows face a far more sinister fate...

However, just because the world revolves around prophecy, it doesn't mean that magic is everything. Thousands of years ago, ultimate power lay in the hands of those who could use Soulforging, a magical method of exchange between the mortal and the divine. However, a group of heroes rose to overthrow the Soulforgers, and established a new world order.

Now, Soulforgers are hunted by the seven Knights of Tavrion (named Void, Steel, Wind, Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Darkness). These armoured warriors were once ordinary humans, until a magical power called them to forsake their fate and walk the world, making sure that the Soulforgers never rise again.

The main characters are:

Alfor: Alfor's prophecy stated that he would destroy the world. After his family turned against him, he was sold into slavery. However, his years of slavework come to an end when Steel, one of the Knights of Tavrion, takes an interest in him and buys his freedom. Alfor becomes Steel's apprentice, and follows the powerful warrior into a religious conflict that could escalate into a global war. As Alfor trains with Steel and learns the history of the world, he must grapple with the psychological scars he has received, and his destiny as a destroyer.

Drift: When the Queen of Mulceita, one of the greatest nations in Entoras, died giving birth to the stillborn heir, the palace servants took action. They replaced the dead Prince Leeohs with a girl who had been born the same day. Raising this girl as a boy, they try to craft her into their idea of a perfect ruler. However, when the King dies of illness, and a scandal is revealed, "Prince Leeohs" must face other factions who have their eyes set on the throne. She takes matters into her own hands by using the books in the great library to teach herself the lost art of "Lightbinding". Armed with her new power, the girl takes the name "Drift" and joins a rebellious gang of thieves. By day, "Prince Leeohs" wages a political battle for the throne. By night, "Drift" uses her power to aid the thieves as she tries to manipulate them into destroying her rivals for the throne. Meanwhile, threats to the kingdom are growing.

Kazailo: Kazailo is an elderly archeologist who travels the world looking for magical artifacts. His work seems to be solid, until a mysterious masked man murders Kazailo's team, steals his artifacts, and sets out on a bid for world conquest. Now, Kazailo assembles a new crew, both to take revenge on the masked man and to protect the world from him.

Selion: Selion, a cunning assassin, found that her prophecy stone contained no words foretelling her fate. Terrified, she stole the stone of another. Now, she carries the guilt of her theft, and the guilt of every murder she commits. When one of her missions goes wrong, she ends up stuck in a town under the attack of Lightning, an insane Knight of Tavrion. Now she questions whether the skills of an assassin can be used to protect the innocent.

Darkness: Reema Malann was a skilled healer, but she was forced to take up arms and become a Knight of Tavrion. Now she must seek out and kill those with latent Soulforging abilities. I haven't quite gotten Darkness's story thought out, but it will involve her venturing into the realm of the gods, only to find that the gods have fled.

My story will be Magitek style, so it will have trains and airships and stuff.

@Yachar: You must write that. I think that it is a fantastic idea and that it would be damned shame if you let it go to waste. Aside from the pure novelty of the concept from my limited perspective—one does not hear much about Estonian folklore hereabouts—the idea that you seem to be confronting is a fascinating and unsettling one.

So for the love of God or whoever else, please, finish that story and send me a copy.

This here involves my Big Bad & character they've pretty much been built into.

They feel that doing anything aligned with "good" and acting benevolent will create criticism one way or another. There will always be people asking for more, trying to take advantage of you, unappreciative, criticizing your choices, forcing you to try and fit some set standard which changes for each person, feeling guilty over stuff outside of one's power, etc. There is no proof you'll be rewarded for these actions and that the sacrifice is worth it plus he's positive will only live once anyway. Since you can't please everybody & no guiding existence in life, why not put efforts to doing all in your power to just please yourself, regardless of the consequences to others.

This translates to their present day attitude in series as Big Bad. They're the strategist to various other villains, their prerequisites being that the project has to entertain them and they don't have to reveal their true identity. This is also reason I'm writing from gender neutral aspect, their identity is not known as being male or female. They keep it hidden by throwing in both masculine and feminine qualities all the time.

Personally, they're not physically imposing villain at all. Training requires effort and discipline they really don't want to expend because that gets in the way of having fun. They do know how to use Psychological Combat, pragmatism, and keeps safeguards in place to buy time.

They generally like some of more silly stuff and freaky things in life primarily because of reaction it gets out of others. Declaring themselves evil and playing up being a villain is one of ways this is expressed. Their serious side still comes out in scheming and operation overall runs plus sometimes shares philosophical opinions just because.

Screwing with expectations in general is one of their delights. This includes even intentionally picking a worse option that risked their future plans just because the Guile Heroine managed to temporarily gain leverage over them by holding something hostage. While they cared, they went against it JUST because he realizes she relies purely on logic and doing something illogical would throw a curve ball into her plans. Plus it would be interesting to see if actually willing to do or not.

They also aren't a sociopath. They have a conscience, or at least had one. They intentionally invoked It Gets Easier on themselves in past, progressively helping to committing atrocities or acting as mastermind to them for sake of becoming The Unfettered.

Overall, they're a malicious trickster who contrasts the heroine, who is a benevolent trickster. Finally, canon that they are obsessed with heroine and outright admit they are. They genuinely want either her to align with them or, if that impossible, for two to keep facing one another cause it's fun way to spend time plus acts as an aphrodisiac for them. They're fully confident will eventually have her, whether she agrees or not.

Mine is for a horror story.

It is a normal day at [[insert generic name here]] High School. Everyone is going about their business as usual. The only difference is that several student complain about the water from the hallway fountains tasting funny.

Things go way down hill once students and teachers begin puking blood all over everything. People drop left and right. Even the principal is upchucking guts all over his office wall, as several unfortunate students find out the hard way.

Hope seems to come in the form of several army vans pulling into the school parking lot... Until they gun down several unarmed, uninfected students down.

A small group of students and teachers board themselves up in the gym and speculate on what is going on. Friendships are tested in these dire moments.

  • The first one is about an Expy of Allen Iverson.
  • The second one is basically the basketball version of Eyeshield Twenty One, where my hero team would be based on the 2004 Detroit Pistons championship team.
