Why didn't Hisui get a preorder costume? And why can't I get through a boss battle without someone being dead at the end? Beat Chalcedony at the mine, but Gall died right at the same time that the boss did.

For some reason, I love it when everyone just piles on Kor whenever he does something stupid. Warms the heart a bit.

Tried some more X1 with some of my newly gotten outfits. Know what, forget Dhaos-Milla, because holy shit her Asbel costume is sexy as fuck. Although Jude's Yuri costume is pretty awkward looking.

Hisujade has a Spada costume but I dunno why they didn't give it along with the others. The pre-order costumes are likely to go on PSN this time since they weren't pre-order bonuses in Japan (unlike Graces and Xillia).

Try teaching Hisujade Nurse. It's Level 5...Endurance, I think? That must be the localisation's name. He becomes an amazing healer later on.

Oh, you managed to purchase the pre-order ones? Good show, I guess I'll do the same. But Dhaos is still the best costume. -_-

Yeah they actually had a purchase page on the UK PS Store. This also means I get Ludger's EMIL <3 costume for when I buy Xillia 2 as well. I was meant to get a PS 3 XMB theme with it as well but nothing's come up yet. Ah well, Asbel-Milla FTW <3

Looks so sexy and all. Her hair perfectly compliments it too. Plus I can see her Jiggle Physics a little better in it. Namco made the right decision here.

Oh yeah and I even managed to get a Day One Graces set from CEX complete with a working Destiny costume set code. Niiiiiiice. Richard looks silly as Judas but the Kyle outfit fits Asbel PERFECTLY.

also got a skit about Malik trying to pair Cheria and Asbel that at the very end suddenly turns into Malik's own personal e/n thread. Poor guy

I was a couple points shy of getting Nurse for Hisui when I did the fight. Looking back, I probably should've gotten those last points before the fight.

So, cooking. I have a ton of recipes but I can't cook anything because they all need things like green onions, rice, rice flour, and other ingredients that I've never ever seen for sale. Did I miss something or is this just how it is for now? I just made it to Straga.

There are new ingredients in every new city you visit. Item merchants sell them. You have to press right or left to see the cooking list.

School uniforms and iDOLM@STER costumes in Zestiria as DLC.

Before you ask, no I haven't had the time to play Symphonia yet. Too many good games coming out. I did watch a LP of Vesperia while training for my Swedish test and I want the game to be re-released for PS 4 with all the content of the updated PS 3 version.

Vesperia is subpar, so you aren't missing anything.

I saw those costumes a while back. I'm going to blow my yen on Layla's school (that braid is amazing), Edna's and Alicia's. Maybe Mike's too. Ang getting all the idols because they look appropriately stylish.

I never liked the school uniform idea. Idolmaster costumes are meh too so I'll wait for the Tales cameo set

But it has a dog! A dog with a pipe as a party member can't be bad!

In both Graces and Xillia the school uniforms change the BGM in battle, into something that sounds like the opening theme of an anime. One assumes the same thing'll happen in Zestiria.

Also, the Graces battle theme is one of the best in the game.

Don't fucking talk to me about Reala. She is the worst thing in the Zhonecage by miles.

I can at least nail the Parasites with Asbel, but the first time I played the Inverse Pressure Lightning Round I was Malik.

Also his accel mode AKA Oh shit its Robert from King Of Fighters

Oh, it gets better. His Accel Mode MA is Shintenrekkuuzankousenpuumessaishinbatsukassatsugeki.

I love how if he goes Accel while casting a spell then he immediately fires the spell off after he's kicked them. Its great.

My favourite Accel Mode is Richard's, since it lets him spam cast almost everything. I think Shooting Stars is the only spell he can't do it with.

Yeah. I totally gotta experiment even more with his because that is fucking brilliant.

I got the impression from This Very Wiki that Vesperia is pretty well liked, mainly due to Yuri's lack of Idiot Hero-ness.

And the other characters are like as well.

That being said, they did kind botch the final conflict.

I get the vibe that Yuri's a cool smart dude too. And at least Jude actually does seem legit smart being a med student and all.

I know I'd be pissed if they sold Jude as a super brainy med student and instead he acted like every other Tales Idiot Hero who couldn't tell their arsehole from their elbow.

Yeah, Jude remains fairly competent throughout the game in terms of intelligence. He's mostly got a fair amount of good sense more than anything else. I also quite appreciate his contrast with Muzet and Gaius in regards to the theme of "leaders and followers" in the game.

Yuri is well liked for a few reasons, one being his general street smarts, another being that he gives people the satisfaction of an unceremonious murdering of those annoying Mohs-esque douchebags Ragou and Cumore. I do find it odd that he loses relevance in terms of mass contributions to the plot, but he still does make a solid leader for the team, acting as something of a backbone to them come the end of the game (sort of a normal dude coming upon greatness through the connections he makes).

Wow, just in time that we're talking about wiki bias.

Upon revisiting Tales Of Destiny 2, I think we've been too harsh to Reala. I think it's inaccurate to call her a Purity Sue. Let's take a look at the beginning. At first, Reala is pretty unsure of herself, she could even look something like a bit of a Shrinking Violet. She's not sure she'll find the hero she's looking for, she's not sure she could even complete her grand mission or standing still in spite of that. Interactions with Kyle and company eventually develops her into someone at least a bit more outgoing and culminates in the end where she's a brave girl ready to Face Death with Dignity and tells Kyle, the same guy that helped her pick up her slack, to snap out of it when he's hesitating.

I think we're just kind of pissed that Loni and Nanaly stopped being relevant once we start the Er'ther Wars arc. But that Lotus-Eater Machine thing is pretty much the culmination of their character arc, Loni being able to confess to Kyle about his greatest failure and still being friends, and Nanaly being able to make amends with her past and solidifies her relations with Loni without ruining much of the comedy and being in touch with her feminine side (there are still comedic Loni-Nanaly skits afterwards), as proven with her Cry Cute.

But even then, afterwards, it's not all about Reala. The War arc is pretty much the Harold arc. And the trip to the Stahn's timeline is the finale of Judas' arc. If Reala was really spotlight-stealing, Elraine would still interfere at any rate in the War arc, but instead we get Barbatos for antagonist all the time until both arcs ended. Afterwards it's just the final arc, which is the culmination of both Kyle and Reala's arc, cementing them as Star-Crossed Lovers and both of their resolves and developments. Then again, we were kind of pissed as well when the same thing to Loni and Nanaly happened to Cheria.

I think let's give Reala more break than the craps we gave to her. She's not that much of a Spotlight-Stealing Squad, and she certainly went through phases of being miserable much like Colette and other modern heroines, only to eventually receive Character Development. Bottom line, not a Mary Sue, and she certainly is still similar development-wise to other modern Tales heroines.
