Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.

     Eddie's old post
Looks like we have a big page lock coming. Big in the sense of many pages and big in the sense that the pages to be locked are too big.

It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine

They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.

I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

I'd love to help out but I don't know where to start. If all I have to do is make a new page, copy and paste some of the source code and let someone else clean up the main page by deleting what was copied, then that's fine, but help me out here.

Since my musical preference is rock music, I started a new Tear Jerker page for rock music. I went down the list of this page, and copied/pasted the entries over to the new page.

Many of the songs and artists I wasn't familiar with, so I may have missed a few. I tried not to include and pop songs (some I had difficulty telling if they were more rock or pop) - but I did include metal songs, since we probably don't have enough of those to warrant its own article.

Of course, if anyone notices any that I've missed, they're free to add to the page.

I have also added a note to the Locked Pages that explains this issue and refers potential editors to this thread.
You did? I don't see... Oh, it's on the discussion page.

Some people add locked pages for that little sense of satisfaction they get for seeing it first (at least as far as they can tell), so I added a note on the main page for them.

(also i didn't think to check the discussion whoooops)

Okay, the character page for The Massive Multi Fandom RPG is done, we've moved over all the season two stuff to a seperate page, so it can be deleted from the original page now.

What do we do about Most Triumphant Example: A to C?

Split it up into A, B, and C?

I split a A-M in half, so I'd imagine individual letter.

I've created the page, and I'll let other tropers handle how the page looks and even what it should be called later down the line, but I've split Darker Than Black. All tropes relating to it's 2nd season and OVA are now found in Darker Than Black Twins Of The Meteor.

Most Triumphant Example: A to C has been split into three separate pages. Unlike the others here, it's not useful as a superpage, so I put it on the cut list.

The other subpages of Most Triumphant Example remain grouped as they were, as they were not locked. However, for consistency and because there's a good chance that the other subpages will eventually grow to have the same problem, we might want to split it 26 ways. Any thoughts? (Or should that discussion be taken to the Trope Repair Shop?)

For the List Of Shows That Need Summary, should a new page be made for each genre? Like List Of Anime That Needs Summary, List Of Films That Need Simmary, etc... or just go with trope/genre like we have been doing the other tropes?

@170: Usually subpages go Page/Genre, so it'd be ListOfShowsNeedingSummary.Anime
