Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.
It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine
They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.
I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

Moe is done.
Moe is done? But there is just a split of Anime and Manga on a page that is not indexed, and the link is above example section. I think it needs more attention
The remaining folders are all small. Anime & Manga was well about half the size of the page; simply splitting it off (and a couple others) was enough. Partial page splits like that are sometimes done if there are problem folders (like here, where one was massive), or if there are lots of folders (so it doesn't make sense to give each its own page, again, quite like here), or someone is feeling lazy (which might be like here, and it's fine if it is because enough has been done).
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Did Dummied Out.

Pinball cleanup threadCompleted the split for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Got Fanfic.A Different Lesson. Are we ready for a new list?
Pinball cleanup threadIs this where I go for pages where the folders are so long they don't work? I'm wondering what to do with Refrain from Assuming since it was illegible without folders but they won't close.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Only 204k. Huh.
Soft-split the music examples from the other ones and folderize them by genre. By the way, some of the Music entries could be sorted under other media, like the Professional Wrestling theme.

If an individual folder gets too large, then that will break the folders, regardless of page length.
I'm not sure how to best split it. Maybe "Music—Part 1" and "Music—Part 2", as that is the folder at fault?

Alphabetizing after real title and split A-M, N-Z?
Edit: or maybe after creator name as some have multiple examples?

If a music-lover with enough knowledge divided it by music genre, that'd probably be best. But I am music-ignorant.
Otherwise, alphabetical by artist/band seems reasonable.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Refrain from Assuming examples are finally all sorted and cleaned up.
I would like somebody to double-check the sorting (I'm not familiar with most of thse band/artist names).
Also, I only namespaced as far as Michael Jackson.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.I skimmed over it and it looked mostly great. I fixed one instance of broken markup and removed a duplicate example ("The Battle Hymn of the Republic" was listed twice).
Thanks for all your work!
I mentioned it a while back, and Surprisingly-Similar Stories is now 17 characters short of the 400k mark. It'll probably show up on the next list.
As I said before, this wouldn't be as simple as other pages to split. I don't know what other people would think of this, but how about sorting entries based on the names of the editors who added them, as with the likes of Paint the Hero Black? Any examples where the editor can't be identified could be moved to an "Unsorted" page or folder on the main page. I could list my contributions; maybe others could do the same with theirs.

It might be better to split that into pages where the comparisons are specifically between two or more works in a common medium, and have one or more pages for comparisons of works that cross mediums.
That's a good idea. I'd like to get a consensus before I do anything to it (it's now over 400k), but I'd support that.
I did the Spider-Man character sheet. It was way easier than I thought it would be.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"I split Why Did It Have to Be Snakes? and Rurouni Kenshin. It's been almost two months since the last page report, can we get a new report, please?

Macron's notesI finally figured out a good way to split Naruto-Akatsuki. So I did.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Characters.Fire Emblem Akaneia (~445,000 characters) has been split in three based on which game (Dark Dragon and Sword of Light, Gaiden, or Mystery of the Emblem) they first appeared in. A small number of miscellaneous and backstory characters that did not neatly fit in either category have been left on that main page. The page I split was neatly categorized into sections/subsections already, so I did no more than some indexing of the new pages (still in progress) and adding some headers and footers to the resulting pages.
The largest of the four pages spawned from this is sitting at a far more comfortable ~275,000 characters.

Beyond the beaten path lies the absolute end. It matters not who you are... Death awaits you. — NyxShouldn't the FE1 characters page be at Characters.Fire Emblem Dark Dragon And The Sword Of Light? Shadow Dragon is the remake, not the original game.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool."Characters: Fire Emblem: Dark Dragon and the Sword of Light" seemed to be an unwieldy and unnecessarily long title for the page, especially given that the vast majority of players have never and will never actually play the original version (not to mention that there are a significant number of characters who appeared in Shadow Dragon that weren't in the original version). I can certainly create a redirect if it seems necessary, but it didn't to me at the time.

"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"
Since the One Piece page was a previously split part of a character page, I split it into One Piece-Straw Hat Pirates East Blue (for the five characters that joined in the first arc) and One Piece-Straw Hat Pirates After East Blue (for the characters that joined after the first arc.)
I didn't cutlist it so that I could give time for all the people who had it on their watchlist to see what happened.
