No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...

I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?

Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Fuck yeah. I can ignore the Legion bit then, lol.

Anyways, I have an unbuilt Russ kit, thinking of making it an Exterminator. One, because I have enough Leman Russ MB Ts, and two... autocannons.

My wife got me a Rhino out of the blue yesterday. waii

I'm putting my Centurions on hold and knocking out the two Terminator Librarians I have so I can have that formation ready for the league. I'm about halfway done with the first and stuck on whether or not to paint the right shoulder green or black...the shoulder with the Crux is green. For the second, I'm going to experiment with using Green Stuff to make lightning to attach to the optional free hand.

[up]Cool, good luck with the Librarians.

On a different note, because I am bored I have decided that every Thursday I will post something random about 2nd Edition 40K. First on 2nd Edition Thursday is a piece of eccentric Ork Wargear:

Squig Attack Arm ~ 5 Points: The squig attack arm is a special bionic replacement which incorporates a cage containing a dangerous gnasher squig. In hand-to-hand combat the Ork automatically unleashes the squig as its opponent closes in so resolve the attack during the hand-to-hand combat phase before any attack dice are rolled. The Ork’s opponent suffers an automatic Strength 5 attack with no saving throw modifier from the squig, after which the creature either crawls off to digest the chunk of flesh it’s bitten off or is killed by the opponent. This means the squig attack arm may only be used once per game.

Bolter & Chainsword announced an Imperial Fists painting drive the same day one of my mates and I resolved to do more 40K stuff. Serendipitous!

I shall be painting three Honour Guard by the end of October.

Decided to take up a suggestion from a 40k facebook group and use acetone-free nail polish remover to strip the paint from some plastic minis and holy crap is it effective, without ruining the mini.

I think something might be wrong with me.

I am seriously considering the possibility that The Emperor is actually M. Bison.

[up][up][up] Yup, that and Simple Green (and, I suppose, brake fluid) are the best paint removers for plastics.

Mentioning M. Bison reminded me of Chiyohiko Matsuda, an original main character for a Kantai Collection comic on Pixiv who took the role of the shipgirls' Admiral, looked like the lost twin brother of M. Bison (Vega in Japan) and thus scares everyone easily despite being a Gentle Giant at heart... who also happens to be a Stern Teacher whose brand of training is quite hellish (but works quite well, too), and truly fearsome on the rare occasion that he's pissed off.

This consequentially reminded me of the Ken'oh Admiral. Which consequentially made me wonder about a GEoM Admiral.

Thoughts?

Disruptor: I used to use Simple Green, but I had to soak the minis for a couple days. In the nail polish remover it's like a few minutes and the paint pretty much peels off.

Fair enough. They're all decent options, really.

Sebastian, that Keeper looks good. [tup] Gotta say, though, I like Forge World's Keeper a lot more.

[up]Thanks. I do like the Forge World Keeper of Secrets as well and was seriously considering getting one but I have decided to save up for a holiday instead. Of course I do like the old metal Keeper the best.

Finished the first Librarian. Gonna do a different color scheme on the next one (green cloak w/black interior) and not put a glaze on the armor after doing the highlighting.

You know, I think my favourite Chaos-related fluff is the Abyssal Crusade. I mean, the descriptions of all the daemon worlds the Space Marines land on basically hammers home how utterly fucked up Chaos is beyond the regular "daemons, spikes, and blood for the blood god!".
