This site has gotten me into loads of anime. I used to be a casual fan of it, but this wiki made me obsessed with Anime and Manga. Please note that I am an obsessive person, though. Once I get into something, I must draw every ounce of enjoyment out of it that I can. That is the way of an obsessive troper.
It also introduced me to Rifftrax, which was very nice. It coerced me into watching more Doctor Who than I would have as well.
Ever since I got onto tropes, I've grown to love characterization. It's my main source of enjoyment for any show. That's why I like anime so much, probably. Many live action shows and movies seem to focus too much on plot and not enough on characters... Exceptions lie in Star Trek, Doctor Who and classic movies like Back to the Future
I discovered the majority of the anime I now watch through TV Tropes. As a choosy bastard who always found himself starting to watch a series half way through a crucial story arc, I found myself dismissing any series I didn't see from the beginning as junk aired to fill up a timeslot on Canada's YTV network. Thanks to the magic of the internet, though, I've learned how to torrent, and appreciate some of the finer offerings of cyberspace. Revolutionary Girl Utena, Rozen Maiden, Hellsing, Serial Experiments Lain, Monster, Code Geass, Avatar the Last Airbender (hey, it's anime in spirit!), Gurren Lagann and When They Cry all came to my attention thanks to this Wiki.
For less Nipponophiliac tastes, I learned about Dexter and came to appreciate {{Lost} through the the wiki. Overall, I'm rather pleased with my acquisitions.
Thanks, TV Tropes!
an heroic gesture would do the world goodLyle In Cube Sector is an excellent metroidvania. It needs more love. Everybody interested in freeware games should play it now if they haven't already.

Although I was a fan of Discworld and Disgaea beforehand, there are quite a few series I learned of through the wiki...
- Azumanga Daioh
- Cowboy Bebop (I only expected a space-opera series, thanks to failing to remember the article. Boy, was I pleasantly suprised.)
- The Melancholy Of Haruhi... err, how do you spell her name?
- Gurren Lagann
- Freefall
- Ozy And Millie
- Sluggy Freelance
- Dan And Mabs Furry Adventures
- Order Of The Stick
And probably a few other webcomics, too.

When Suzumiya Haruhi was still airing and clips were being put onto Youtube by enterprising fans, reading the comments there made me surprised at how many people could spell "Suzumiya" perfectly, but had great trouble with "Melancholy".
To e fair, Suzumiya is pronounced as is, Melancholy has all those unecessary consonants the English language loves.
For the record, the Finnish word is Melankolia.
the statement above is falseWow. I'm generally the first to defend the English language, but "melankolia" is so much more elegant.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffNextwave was the series I discovered through TV Tropes. Glad I did, too!
Again with the data mining, dear Aunt? The only reason I watch any anime at all is because this place made it sound much more appealing than I had previously thought. So danke schön. For Monster and Cowboy Bebop especially.
But dammit, if I fail my exams next month, I'll know exactly where to lay the blame!
Listen to Music with Tropers at The Troper Turntable!Oh, wow, I haven't posted in this thread in ages. I'll repost the stuff I already said back on page 3, as well as update for all the more recent stuff.

https://www.facebook.com/emileunmedicatedanduncutFirst of all, TV Tropes convinced me to get a PS 2 to play Metal Gear Solid and FFX and FFXII. I had heard of them, of course, and was planning to buy them one day, but TV Tropes made me go for it.
Then, it drew my attention to Haruhi Suzumiya and Azumanga Daioh. And then the Webcomics Dominic Deegan, Order Of The Stick and El Goonish Shive.
But my greatest gift from TV Tropes is Touhou Project. The excellent games with its wacky characters, the anime, the fanfics and Iosys Ear Worm songs of awesome; all of this would be a closed book to me if not for TV Tropes and I can't imagine where I would be now without it. So, from the bottom of my heart: Thank you, TV Tropes!

La Blue Girl, Questionable Content, The Big Bang Theory (though I've fallen out of love with that last one)
Also, La-Mulana. still have to play it. After i'm done with my thesis. It's on revision now, I took on more step toward my degree!
What else... hm... hm... P Ortal.
Gunnerkrigg Court, Yotsubato... I keep meaning to look into Dead Like Me, which I didn't exactly find via this wiki (I have a Crossover Fan Fic to thank for that), but I was reminded.
And you guys keep tempting me to do a massive Buffy The Vampire Slayer Archive Binge. Somehow. It ought to take me at least a year if I intend to have a life and watch other shows... And there's a Crossover Ship fic to blame for that, involving Oz and the same character who was in the Dead Like Me one... apparently he's some people's Little Black Dress or something.
Hmm, this list is longer than I realized.
- Dan And Mabs Furry Adventures
- The Adventures of Dr. McNinja
- Gunnerkrigg Court
- The Order Of The Stick
- Schlock Mercenary
- DM Of The Rings
- Darths And Droids
- A Miracle Of Science
- Mahou Sensei Negima
- Love Hina
- RIN-NE

Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. — George S. PattonI've taken interest in Captain Planet thanks to this wiki.
Let's see...
- D.E.B.S. which is kind of ironic since I'm the one who created the page for it.
- Hidamari Sketch
- I Wanna Be The Guy
- Let's Play (which ended up introducing me to Bunny Must Die)
- Loving Annabelle
- Maid RPG
- Minami-ke
- Portal
- Ryofuko-chan and I probably regret doing that in retrospect.
- Sailor Nothing which unfortunately I felt Hype Backlash towards as I felt it was good not great. Also, I was expecting something significantly more cynical.
- Touhou Project
- You Have To Burn The Rope

and that's how Equestria was made!
Well, after seeing it being discussed all over the wiki, and with the new movie coming out, I finally broke down and used some of my leftover Christmas money to get Watchmen; it helped that my local comic shop had recently cut the price by €5. Now, let's see if it's as good as everybody says...
