YMMV / Dislyte

Go To

  • Ass Pull: During the second story mode, the big reveal that Gaius is actually a Big Bad working as a Shadow Councilor for the Shadow Decree and he wishes to create a world with just Espers comes out of nowhere with absolutely no foreshadowing from previously known information.
  • Awesome Art: A huge part of why people got into the game in the first place is because of the art design. It's incredibly stylish with its Urban Fantasy aesthetic and manages to stand out amidst a sea of mobile games having more Animesque designs.
  • Awesome Music: With music and urban culture being such a huge part of the game, it was to be expected they'd put in effort to create memorable tracks such as ''Funky Summer Vibes'' and ''Enter Your Mind''
  • Character Tiers: As expected of a game with a PVP element, there's also Espers that excel better in certain modes such as Spatial Tower or Ritual Miracle.
  • Demonic Spiders: In Calamity Island:
    • Surging Pillar's Sacrificial Spring foes tend to do a little strike with Infinite Waves, which grants their side a shield that blocks 7 attacks until the shields go down. In this tower, turn limit is low, which means the move can stall for time to get you to fail the battle. These foes become very common to fight the higher you go up, with team setups ensuring that they can use Infinite Waves soon.
  • Difficulty Spike: The ver. 3.1.7 update buffed all of the Ritual Miracle bosses from stats to extra crippling effects. Although the developers made it easier for elemental advantages to deal more damage, the improvements upon the bosses severely eclipse the extra damage. This was later fixed in Ver. 3.1.9 update that made the bosses lower than 16 easier to beat.
  • Friendly Fandoms:
    • There's a lot of crossover between Dislyte fans and Genshin Impact fans, with both games garnering massive playerbases thanks to social media hype.
    • Jin Qiu fans like to pair him up with Arknights's Mountain due to the fact both are large white tigers, and the fact Jin Qiu is a warden and Mountain is a prisoner.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Anna (Persephone) has been incredibly guilty of this due to her many self-buffs, ability to negate death, self-heal, and act right away when she's attacked. Getting her at all can easily help any player reach Point War 20 without much effort needed. Even in non-PVP modes she's considered a pain; in November 2023 she had to be swapped out for other Espers on two different floors of the Infinity Tower mere days after the cycle started because too many players were struggling against her.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The CN release of the game is heavily promoted through Jin Qiu; so much that the creators have actually commissioned artists to promote the game with bondage and other adult art with Jin Qiu in it. What's more, Jin Qiu is a free Esper for everyone (who have reached level 30 on their accounts) to celebrate.
  • Goddamned Boss:
    • Anesidora of Stage 12-5 is very capable of keeping an unprepared Esper group incapable of making a single move due to Pandora's Box's high chance of stunning your whole team for two turns while her squad whittles them down. The only way to make it through her is by having a support Esper dispel her debuff before it goes off, though it doesn't help much that Espers with dispelling effects are mostly Epic or Legendary Espers.
    • Kronos's basic attack causes it to stomp the floor with a shockwave to hit everyone hard. Then a huge chuck of rock falls from nowhere on the party member with the lowest HP value and stuns them for a turn. On top of that, if anyone is defeated during one of its attacks (usually the one stated), it gains an extra turn that may demolish everyone else quickly.
    • The December 27th 2022 update generally made Kronos, Apep, and Fafnir far more difficult to deal with despite the fact the developers encouraged the use of effective Espers with elemental advantage. Kronos can just increase its AP after every turn an Esper takes (which is also bad if you have Gaius go into God Mode, because that just accelerates Kronos's AP gain twice as fast), Apep makes any poisoned Esper suffer earlier by "detonating" poison stacks right away, and Fafnir heals itself. That's without mentioning how their Miramon lackeys like to dispel buffs from all party members and increase their AP. Alleviated in the ver. 3.1.9 update for all bosses under stage 16.
  • LGBT Fanbase: The game quickly garnered a following of queer fans who openly lust over all the attractive characters, both male and female. Special mention goes to the animal-themed Espers such as Freddy, Drew, Heng Yue, and Berenice.
  • Low-Tier Letdown: David, who represents Jason, is widely seen as the worst Esper in the game thanks to being a DPS Esper with a skill set more suited for tanking but is not particularly good at either.
  • Memetic Molester: Q, the chosen Esper of Eros, got this reputation almost immediately with many comparing him to Mineta of My Hero Academia. This has something to do with his pervy, Casanova Wannabe personality (similar to the aformentioned Mineta) and is introduced by saying that he heard someone hot is joing the Esper Union and asking that if she's willing to wear a bikini for his vlog as he films.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • If there's an Esper that's remotely good-looking, expect their Review pages to be filled with people clamoring hard for them.
    • "The flowers, they springle cum." Explanation
    • Useless reviews Explanation
    • Brynn saying frick Explanation
    • Everyone hates Q Explanation
    • Channel 8 Explanation
    • "Fashion is not just about aesthetics, but attiiiitoouuude." Explanation
    • "bulge" explanation
  • Popular with Furries:
    • It's not crazy to think that the game attracted many of these with the likes of Freddy in it. In particular, his review page is mostly entirely filled with people calling him "daddy". The same goes to every other male humanoid Esper beast like Sander, Drew, and Djoser.
    • The China release heavily promoted Jin Qiu to a point that the devs commissioned artists to go wild with mature Jin Qiu fan art (and others) that border close to the adult rating.
  • The Scrappy:
    • Few Espers are as hated as Q. His short stature, nasally voice, and him being a general asshole makes him rather unlikeable. Not helping him at all is his being a Shimmer, an Esper type that has the lowest rates in the game. With how the game treats Shimmer Records (items that summon only Shimmer Espers) as rare, premium items, one would expect at least a four star, but with Q being the most common rarity at 3 star means that he'll be the most common pull from these records.
    • Amber from Cellblock Chaos has received a lot of hate for getting tricked by Toland into letting him escape and indirectly being the reason Jin Qiu is turned into The Scapegoat and sentenced to prison himself because he didn't want to kill Toland while holding Amber hostage in the line of fire, the latter who showed promise to be a light in the prison and to avoid becoming a cynic like him. Regardless of Jin Qiu's thoughts on her, players criticize Amber for being an idealistic idiot.
  • Scrappy Mechanic:
    • The Ripple System. First off, ripples are the only way to get certain Espers such as Dahlia or Ye Suhua (who is widely seen as one of the best Support oriented Espers in the game). Secondly, they have an incredibly low chance of spawning randomly while playing the game normally.. Thirdly, you have to spawn *multiple* ripples since they only give you fragments of a character. All this is made worse that it's so easy to miss your chance to get into a ripple because the spawn message gets swept away by a spammy chat, or by not even being able to access chat at all thanks to combat animations.
    • The new Sonic Rift mode. It's the replacement for the training stages in story mode, giving players experience and Experimon for leveling up Espers. However, it's been noted that it takes more time to level up Espers, and the mode doesn't even provide purple Experimon (what's more, the mode itself introduces an orange Experimon that can't be gotten anywhere in the game).
    • Desolate Lands becomes locked behind players needing to beat Kronos at Difficulty 14. Unless you managed to scrounge up some loot from Desolate Lands ironically before the update happened, it'll take time to beat Kronos at the highest difficulty due to becoming even harder to beat.
  • That One Attack:
    • Anything that causes Stun or Frozen, especially to the entire party. It can mean enduring attacks to the lowest HP or getting killed by the foe's side in one or two turns.
    • Diseased, which renders healing useless until it lifts off on its own. Again, it can mean life or death when you're forced to wait it out.
  • That One Level:
    • Spatial Tower 96F has three Hydes as the second team. Enjoy slowly killing them while they slowly kill you back.
    • Spatial Tower 98F has a second team that entirely revolves around keeping Hyde alive with Ye Suhua, Layla, Sally, and Cecilia to exploit his Breath of the Deep passive so he becomes stronger with every other medic teammate getting killed first before he does. Kill Hyde first? Layla will revive him. Kill the medics first? Hyde gets stronger by default while Sally reduces damage taken. Kill Cecilia? Her passive will resurrect all party members and grant them buffs.
  • Unfortunate Character Design:
    • Layla wears an outfit that is supposed to resemble Medjed, the god she's an Esper of, but because her cloak is clear, she looks less like a Bedsheet Ghost and more like a condom.
    • Lucas's model has been pointed out for having a noticeable bulge in his crotch, leading to a hell lot of "reviews" making phallic mentions of it.
