  • Persona: Early in the game, you fought through demons and what-have-you to confront Takahisa Kandori, a seemingly normal man. Nanjo tries to prevent his escape by attacking him with his Persona, but then it has no effects and...
Kandori: What a surprise... I didn't expect that you'd be Persona-users as well. (summons Nyarlathotep to damage the whole party, revealing him as a Persona user)
  • Persona 2: Innocent Sin has the reveal of Joker's true identity. The game had been leading up to Big Sis being Joker, but then...
Maya: I'm sorry. I can't do that... Jun.
  • Persona 3:
    • The day after defeating the Hanged Man Shadow, the party celebrates their success, only for the Dark Hour to come again at midnight that night. The group goes to the entrance of Tartarus and confronts Ikutsuki.
Mitsuru: It was all a lie, wasn't it? You knew from the beginning that the Dark Hour wouldn't disappear.
Ikutsuki: Excellent deduction, Mitsuru. However, your realization has come too late.
    • This line during the Final Boss.
Skill Menu: Great Seal: Unleashes the power within you to seal Nyx. Cost: 100% HP.
    • And this Player Punch in The Answer.
Yukari: There's no use going around and around like this. We're never going to reach an agreement [on whether to use the 8 Keys of Time to travel back in time or not]. So if no one gives in... we'll have to settle this another way.
Fuuka: Another way...? ...Yukari-chan... you don't mean--!?
Yukari: Taking the keys by force... That'll work too, right?
  • Persona 4:
    • After entering the Midnight Channel for the second time, where you learn about the existence of shadow selves.
Shadow Yosuke: It's just so sad. I feel so sorry for myself....boo-hoo! Actually, I'm the one who thinks everything's a pain in the ass. Hahahahaha!
    • In Naoto's dungeon, one happens during the confrontation with the Shadow. While the party had previously interacted with Naoto on several occasions and investigated Naoto as a necessary step in learning the kidnapping victim's location in the TV world, this time, the party is completely caught off guard by what Shadow Naoto says.
Shadow Naoto: But a name doesn't change the truth, it doesn't let you cross the barrier between the sexes. How could you become an ideal man, when you were never male to begin with...?
    • On December 3, the player character gets some unexpected and unpleasant news.
Adachi: Hello? This is Adachi. Um, I want you to stay calm and listen to me, okay? Nanako-chan's condition suddenly got worse...
    • The party, seemingly out of leads, confronts the one suspect they have left- Tohru Adachi- and asks him some questions. The person in question gets increasingly agitated throughout the encounter, and eventually blurts out something only the killer should know.
Adachi: Namatame's the one who put 'em all in!
    • Perhaps even earlier on when you're given all the evidence you have as well as a list of every named person in the game and have to choose one to indict as the Killer. Adachi's name is on the list, which leads to the realization that the evidence points to the truth that he of all people is the Killer.
    • After defeating the True Killer, he's suddenly possessed by the entity inside him.
Ameno-sagiri: All humans... will become shadows...and I shall descend upon the united world as the master of order.
  • In Persona 4: Dancing All Night, Dojima calls Kanami to tell her that he's found out who witnessed Yuko's suicide.
Dojima: It was a girl, ten years old at the time, who'd come to audition. Her name... was Kanami Mashita.
  • Persona 5
    • During the final confrontation with the second target, the Shadow of Yusuke's adoptive father and teacher, Madarame, Yusuke reaches an epiphany and asks a question of Madarame's Shadow that forces him to admit to letting Yusuke's mother die.
Yusuke: I've heard that you destroy your "art" once they outlive their usefulness... Did that include my mother as well?
    • The game begins with the player character being interrogated by public prosecutor Sae Niijima, after the main character's arrest at the end of the Thieves' last heist. After recounting the events leading up to the failed heist, Sae then takes out the Calling Card that reveals the identity of who the thieves were after.
Sae: It was addressed to "Sae Niijima." ...Myself.
    • One of these is dropped when the player learns the identity of the traitor. Right after Sae Niijima leaves the interrogation room with the protagonist, she's briefly stopped by Goro Akechi. But, once she walks past him, he smirks, his in-game portrait turning into a menacing smile.
      Akechi: Foolish woman.
    • Then, after Akechi apparently kills the protagonist, the game cuts to the news of the Phantom Thieves’ leader apparently committing suicide. The rest of the Phantom Thieves seem to react to this news with shock and dismay... until we get to Ryuji:
Ryuji: You're shittin' me... (grins) We got 'em.
    • The final big one, during the game's Darkest Hour.
Igor: In accordance to the game's rules, the defeated must pay a price. Your life is forfeit. I sentence you to be executed.
    • Just after the final battle, Sae goes up and informs the protagonist that since Akechi, the main accomplice to Shido's crimes, is missing and presumed dead, the protagonist will have to turn himself in. In Royal, however, if the player has completed Maruki's Confidant, then the following line happens as Akechi suddenly reappears.
Akechi: There's no need for that.
    • During the Third Semester, we have the following about Kasumi and Maruki, all in fairly quick succession:
Girl with tied up hair: My younger sister! She should be here in the stadium... Oh, there she is! ... Sumire! Sumire! I did it! Both of us have the same dream - to be international champions!
    • After Kasumi is exposed as Sumire:
Akechi: ...The girl known as "Kasumi Yoshizawa" is currently deceased.
    • Sumire explains about Kasumi's death:
Sumire: ... It was last spring... Before I started at Shujin... We were walking home from practice. It happened right there, on that street in the video... I wasn't looking where I was going... And Kasumi, she protected me from the car... I was saved by Kasumi... I robbed her of her dreams... and even her life! I'm her younger sister, Sumire Yoshizawa.
    • Maruki explains his role on Sumire's cognition warping:
Maruki: Her real name is Sumire Yoshizawa. She's Kasumi-san's younger sister... But for months now, she's only seen herself as being Kasumi Yoshizawa, her deceased elder sister. Of course it was only her cognition of herself that changed, so to the people around her, she was still Sumire-san.
    • Akechi tells Joker about Sumire:
Akechi: It appears you were clueless, but she was Sumire Yoshizawa from the start.
    • This line from Maruki just before you fight him.
Maruki: I believe you called forth your power like this. Persona.
    • In the Death Confidant, Takemi's old boss, Oyamada, angry with Takemi for curing one of his patients, shows up to badmouth her and brings up a past incident with a young girl who'd taken the medicine Takemi was developing (and since Oyamada was the one who rushed the medicine to testing, the incident was his fault), resulting in said girl lapsing into critical condition.
Oyamada: She's a monster who tortured a patient with her unregulated medicine! Terrible, isn't it? She was such a brave girl, always smiling...
      Takemi: (surprised) …"Was?"
      Oyamada: She passed away.
    • After you confront Oyamada's Shadow in Mementos, he makes the following confession, revealing that what he said earlier was a lie.
Shadow Oyamada: Takemi's patient isn't dead.
  • Persona 5 Strikers:
    • Your first target's true nature is revealed when you investigate the barrier barring the way to her inner sanctum. For context, one might assume that Alice is a Schoolyard Bully All Grown Up given her personality, so it's a surprise to realize that she's actually a victim.
Arrogant Girl: Disgusting... can you please not talk to me?
Bitter Girl: Why are you hooking on those guys?
Quarreling Girl: That girl... she really looks so pathetic.
Scornful Girl: I get you~! Didn't she just look so gloomy? Hahaha!
Alice: No, that's not true! I...
    • Throughout most of the game, Konoe doesn't act like he was anything but a Straw Hypocrite. This dialogue at the top floor of this Jail, however...
Harsh Voice: Abuse? This is ridiculous... Erm, it's just because we had a pet here. That's probably what they heard. Right, Akira?
Calm Voice: But Konoe-san, we've received reports that you've been violent against your child... in fact, Akira-kun seems to have an injury on his arm...
Harsh Voice: He just fell down. How many times have I told you? Enough, go away. Damn brat! How dare you cause all this trouble for me! Just do what I tell you! *sounds of physical beating*
    • Near the end of the game, when Sophia is planning a Route that will let the Phantom Thieves return quickly from Yokohama to Tokyo:
Sophia: OK, I will... Wait a minute... What was that...?
      Haru: Sophia?
      Sophia: A Jail... I smell a Jail!
    • When the true culprit reveals themselves:
      Kuon Ichinose: ~♪
      • The only other person to hum that tune is Sophia, because you're talking to her mother/creator.
  • In Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, at the end of the fourth labyrinth, Zen regains his memories.
Zen: Rei, I...I remember everything now. I am Chronos, he who has dominion over time...I came here to take you away.
