"Who am I supposed to be?"
—Josiah Jones

Culture Shock is an ongoing Fan Made JoJo's Bizarre Adventure webcomic written and illustrated by AllShaftsFall. Iron Touch author Edgy Ella has also been brought on as a co-author.

Set in the year 2030 in Midnight City, the story follows Josiah Jones. An Ex-Convict trying to start a new life for himself, only to be pushed back into the world of crime despite his attempts to change. Later on he has a fateful meeting with Davis Lombardi, a man on a mission to purge the corruption and crime in the city, who wants Josiah's help in doing so. Josiah reluctantly agrees and the two begin their journey. However there will be many obstacles in their path. Such as various members of Double Helix, the gang with a stronghold over the city. To make things worse, some of the members are even stand users.

Culture Shock is also available on Mangadex and it even has a Spanish Translation. Though currently only the first chapter has been translated.

Show me ya tropes, bitch!

  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Downplayed. In the original Chapter 1, Parental Advisory is a total Gonk. In the remake of Chapter 1 his eyes are closer together and his comically large nose and signature butt chin are shrunk down significantly and look more proportionate. In spite of the changes, he won’t be winning any beauty contests any time soon.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Castle forces Josiah to find the bird from the warehouse for him under the threat of shooting Davis.
  • Art Evolution: The art improves with each chapter. To the point where the author jokes that even his style changes with each chapter.
  • Ascended Meme: Fans had made jokes about alternate names for Davis' stand Tokyo Drifting. The two most popular being Low Rider and Midnite Cruiser. In Chapter 10, Low Rider appears as a race car in a flashback. And Midnite Cruiser has been announced to be the title of Chapter 11.
  • Asshole Victim: Considering how Parental Advisory killed Josiah’s brother, Jamie, got Josiah sent to prison at 14, ruining his life, and to top it off his treatment of Jenny. Nobody feels sorry for him after Josiah puts a bullet through his skull.
  • Barbie Doll Anatomy: The Woman who flashes Mobster in Chapter 8 doesn’t have nipples.
  • Beard of Sorrow: The initially clean shaven Josiah grows a beard when he’s at the lowest point in his life.
  • Bland-Name Product: Chapter 1’s rewrite features Cucu Cola and Opel. As well as the television channel BMC.
  • Blank White Eyes: Josiah has these when he attacks and kills Parental Advisory.
  • Boom, Headshot!: How Josiah kills Skandalous, as well as Parental Guidance in the original version of Chapter 1.
  • Cleavage Window: Jenny's dress has one in the shape of an upside down cross.
  • Cool Car: Pretty much all of the competitors in the XO Tour Life race have one.
  • Cool Old Guy: Davis who fights crime with Josiah, and who’s stand ability is a car that changes its model and appearance at its user’s will. He can even telepathically control the seat belts!
  • Curbstomp Battle:
    • Josiah beats Parental Guidance in the original and remastered Chapter 1 with very little effort.
    • He also later defeats Skandalous with little trouble.
  • Dark and Troubled Past:
    • As a child, Josiah was forced to leave his Mom and go to a school in Midnight City with his brother. His brother was later murdered, and Josiah was arrested for trying to kill his brother’s murderer. He was sent to prison at AGE 14, and served 9 years. Even after he is released things don’t get better. He tries to escape a life of crime by applying for jobs, but employers don’t want an Ex-Con working for them, all this leads him to attempt suicide.
    • We haven’t seen all of it yet, but from what we’ve seen so far of Davis being forced out of his Daughter’s life, and using drugs to cope with the pain, he qualifies for this already.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: In the original dialogue of Chapter 3, Josiah ponders how helping Davis with getting rid of the corruption in Midnight City might give him some kind of purpose. In the updated dialogue he thinks about how he tried to throw away his life only to be saved, that it may have been for a reason and perhaps he can still do something with his life.
  • Driven to Suicide: Josiah attempts to take his own life by jumping off a building in the first chapter. But through currently unexplained means, his wounds are undone and he lives.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Skandalous has eyes reminiscent of a snake.
  • Expressive Mask: Dale Reunt's helmet has a screen that displays symbols to emote, due to not speaking for unknown reasons.
  • Fat Bastard: Parental Advisory is an overweight amoral gangster who sexually assaults a woman in his introductory scene.
  • Fighting Spirit: A JoJo tradition.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: In the Remake of Chapter 1, the comic cuts to a building when Parental Guidance is shot. His body is also entirely silhouetted the last time we see him.
  • Groin Attack: Jenny kicks Parental Guidance in the balls in the remastered first chapter.
  • Healing Factor: Josiah appears to have one through his stand.
  • Hostage Situation: Mr. Castle takes Davis hostage at the end of Chapter 12.
  • Hypocrite: Mr. Castle goes on a long tirade about how disgusted he is with the people of Midnight City for "chasing the cheapest cunt and shooting the scummiest skag up their wrists" instead of trying to improve their quality of life, considering himself better than the masses. After he tells Josiah that he knows that he feels the same, Josiah rebuts by saying that nobody chooses to live that life, and that as a high ranking member of Double Helix, it's partially Castle's fault that they have to live like that to begin with.
  • Kiai: GIRA GIRA GIRA for Starboy.
  • Likes Older Men: Maddie, who is shown having sex with Davis after the race. Potentially subverted, as she at least partially did it just to kidnap Davis.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Josiah is in very good physical shape which is showcased a number of times. In the Remastered Chapter 1 you can see his abs through his prison uniform, and there’s a panel where he’s wearing nothing but his underwear. He also has more shirtless scenes in other chapters.
  • Musical Theme Naming: As to be expected from a JoJo fanpart.
  • Mythology Gag: Josiah has a star on his left shoulder. However it is a tattoo and not the series signature birthmark.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: White Iversion resembles Post Malone with shorter hair and no face tattoos.
  • No-Sell: In the Remastered Chapter 1, Josiah ignores being shot by Parental Guidance three times.
  • Older Than They Look: Mr. Castle looks very young for 66 in his initial appearance, though in Chapter 10 onwards he gets a new design that makes him look much closer to his age.
  • Parrying Bullets: Starboy manages to punch a bullet out of the air in Chapter 13.
  • Progressively Prettier: Mobster is rather average looking in his first appearance, though as the arc continues he develops a Bishōnen look, and by Chapter 10, he’s fully evolved into a goth Diego Brando.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Purple is the color of Josiah’s suit and is generally associated with him. He’s also likely the strongest character in the comic so far, considering every time he’s been supposedly killed or harmed he just comes back completely unscathed.
  • Shackle Seat Trap: At the end of Chapter 12, Josiah ends up restrained to his chair after a bunch of arms sprout out of it and hold him in place.
  • Silver Fox: The girl in Chapter 11 who calls Davis a 'GILF' certainly thinks he is this.
  • Super-Strength: In Chapter 10, Josiah uses his stand to give him the strength needed to throw a car over his head.
  • Super-Toughness: We see in Chapters 1 and 5 the punishment he can take, by tanking bullets and healing quickly from them.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Downplayed; Davis tells Maddie that he "wouldn't mind this kind of treatment under different circumstances" after she kicks him in the head, though he says it more to get under Castle's skin than anything else.
  • Vengeance Feels Empty: After killing Parental Advisory, Josiah states that he should feel happy, but he only feels empty.
  • Wacky Racing: The XO Tour Race, which includes some of the following competitors. A man with a racing helmet that appears to have a 3D graphical face to express his mood, A Russian man driving an actual tank that can apparently keep up with all the other cars, and the undefeated champion who possesses a stand he can utilize to give him an advantage in the race.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Zig-zagged. Josiah normally wears a shirt and jacket, but only 10 chapters in Josiah has already had 5 scenes where he is shirtless. And there are likely to be many more as the comic continues.
  • Wham Shot: In Chapter 10, we get a panel which gives us our first good look at Starboy.
  • Wretched Hive: If it wasn’t apparent already, Davis’ monologue in Chapter 2 sells how corrupt and dangerous Midnight City is.
  • Younger Than They Look: Due to his appearance, a good number of readers were surprised to learn that Davis was only 58 years old.
