"Hey what's up, everybody, Mike here with a Tropes Page."

TFX Productions, formerly known as nightslash2020 is a Transformers-based Youtube channel run by a man named Mike. It's home to a series of episodic Stop Motion videos that tell the story of Mike's Transformers fanfiction, dubbed "The Matrix Saga".

The series includes:

Tropes:

General
  • Ax-Crazy: Scourge.
  • Big Good: Subverted with Optimus Prime, as he's responsible for kickstarting the war between Autobots and Decepticons.
  • Black-and-Gray Morality: Even the Autobots display actions and traits that are morally debatable. Optimus Prime gets this especially as revealed in Origins, where those who personally knew him as Orion Pax are disgusted with his agreement to have Megatron assassinated.
  • Combat Medic: Ratchet.
  • Crossover: With BIONICLE. The Toa are confirmed to be a race of aliens native to a planet neighboring Cybertron. The Cybertronians had once gone to war with this race, and the animosity as a result of the war still remains by the time period Origins takes place in. A boot camp simulation has BIONICLE characters as the mooks as well. The final episode of TF3 also shows them aiding the Autobots in the Final Battle against Megatron's forces.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Unicron.
  • The Starscream: Guess who.
  • Original Character: Optimus's older brother, Maxion.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Cliffjumper.

    Original Trilogy
  • The Ace: Prowl is considered by many to be the greatest warrior of the Autobots.
  • Back from the Dead: Thundercracker, after being killed in a flashback, is resurrected by Starscream who shared with him his indestructible spark in TF2.
  • Big Bad: Megatron.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Starscream.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Ultra Magnus and the entirety of Cybertron's forces come to the Autobot's aid in TF3.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Prowl when he was Barricade, if the latter's personality in Nexus is any indication.
  • Darkest Hour: By the end of TF2, the Autobot base is infiltrated and destroyed, many Autobots are dead, and the main characters are split up with little to no means of communication lest they want to be found by the Decepticons.
  • The Dragon: Soundwave to Megatron.
  • Grand Finale: The third episode of TF3
  • Heroic Sacrifice:
    • Vector Prime sacrifices his spark to heal Optimus and Prowl.
    • Tigatron dies fighting off a large group of Decepticons to buy Bumblebee and the other Autobots time.
  • Hulk Speak: Grimlock. Who else?
  • Ironic Echo: "We all gotta die sometime, Megatron."
  • MacGuffin: The Matrix of Leadership.
  • The Mole: Sideburn.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Sideburn's death indicates that he regretted betraying the Autobots.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • Sacrificial Lamb: Rodimus and Mirage at the very beginning.
  • Say My Name: Megatron dies screaming Optimus's name.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here:
    • Starscream and Thundercracker flee before the Final Battle.
  • Shout-Out: Arcee's death is a direct reference to Trinity's death in The Matrix Revolutions.
  • Super Mode: Absorbing energy from the Matrix, Starscream grows into a giant version of his G1 counterpart.
  • You Are in Command Now:
    • Optimus gives Bumblebee command of the Autobot army while he goes off to search for Megatron.
    • Vector Prime promotes Blackarachnia to succeed him as the Maximals' leader.
    • Upon his death, Jaller declares Lewa the new leader of the Toa.

    Origins
  • Audience Surrogate: Sideswipe, a newcomer to the Autobot army and the bot Optimus relates Cybertron's history to.
  • Backstory: One for the original trilogy, another for Mike's universe, and yet another albeit minor one for Vector Prime.
  • Big Bad: The Fallen.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Maxion when he becomes Scourge.
  • The Chosen One: Orion Pax is a prophesized Autobot that The Fallen searches for throughout the series due to his spark's unique atomic make-up. This soon comes to a head when Orion is directly called upon by the Matrix of Leadership to become Optimus Prime and summon Cybertron's spirit to vanquish The Fallen once and for all.
  • Composite Character: In-universe: Megatron is revealed to be a combination of Thunderbolt's charisma, skills, and ruthlessness and Straxus's paranoid and supremacist ideals.
  • Disney Villain Death: Scourge when he falls down Razor's Deep. Subverted since his appearance in the original trilogy confirms his survival.
  • Do Unto Others Before They Do Unto Us: Straxus attempts to convince the Cybertronian High Council to wage another war against the Toa, claiming that they are planning to retaliate against the Transformers for the previous war the two fought.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Thunderbolt.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: The Fallen's corruption of Starscream is implied to be from this:
Starscream: Allow me to show you. Show you the madness.
  • Heroic BSoD: Orion when he is told Maxion has been killed.
  • Kirk Summation: Optimus attempts this as his opening statement in his first debate with Megatron. Unfortunately, it leads to a brutal Shut Up, Kirk! from the Decepticon leader.
  • Mind over Matter: The Fallen displays this power.
  • Mind Rape: Grimlock and Snarl's lack of intelligence is revealed to be due to being subjected to this by The Fallen.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The first episode shows Optimus facing off against holographic projections of multiple Megatrons, each from different eras of the Transformers franchise.
  • Never Found the Body: According to Megatron, Optimus claimed that they never found Scourge's body at the body of Razor's Deep.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
    • Devastus's final words for Starscream is to tell him to look out for himself above all others. Devastus probably meant for Starscream to remember to think about himself before doing something stupid for other people, but Starscream takes the words a bit too literally.
    • While Megatron intended to overthrow Optimus, the Cybertronian civil war would've never gotten as bloody as it did if Optimus didn't agree to hiring an assassin to kill the Decepticon leader.
  • Saved by Canon: Many, many characters.
  • Sequel Hook: Optimus's attempts to resurrect Jazz using Teletraan 1's holographic projector is first shown in this series, which will later transfer to Nexus.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: As mentioned above, Megatron shoots down Optimus's attempt at a Kirk Summation with an Insult Backfire and calling him out for potentially allowing a crazed killer to live while claiming he was dead.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Wreck-Gar, even moreso than his Animated counterpart.
  • Tempting Fate: Orion assures Wreck-Gar that they'll eventually find The Fallen. In fact, "he might be closer than you [Wreck-Gar] think." One corner turn later, Orion literally bumps into The Fallen.
  • The World Is Just Awesome: The Seekers marvel at the snow planet they land on.
