What a team.

And there came a day unlike any other, where all of Earth's cartoon heroes banded together against a common threat. On that day, they call themselves Team Teen.

Team Teen: Cartoon Heroes Unite is a series of animated shorts created by Alex Dudley, who also created The Cartoon Chronicles of Conroy Cat, for his YouTube channel, Dtoons. This series portrays (mostly) all cartoon heroes living in one Shared Universe. The playlist for the series can be found here.

Also, check out Team Teen Origins, a comic series inspired by Team Teen.

Team Teen: Cartoon Heroes Unite contains the following tropes:

  • Aloof Ally:
    • Ben is this on Team Teen since he expects his partnership with them to be a one-time gig and personally, he doesn't want to outshine them. Sonic convinces him to give a chance since despite being the World's Strongest Man, he would need some back-up to cover some of his flaws.
    • Rick Sanchez is a more prominent example here, with his lackadaisical attitude when it comes to Aku and him just being an unapologetic jerk to the rest of the cast.
  • Alternate Timeline: It's revealed in "The Meeting" that the Aku virus originated from one. Aku did exist in Team Teen's universe at one point during Ancient Japan, but Jack killed Aku before he could send him into the future.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's not clear if the Rick and Morty we see in this series are either native to the Shared Universe of Team Teen or if they just moved from another reality altogether.
  • Avengers Assemble: The Assembly has Team Teen recruit as many teenage heroes as possible to help fight the growing threat of Aku.
  • Badass in Distress: Sonic and several speedsters asks Ben's help in rescuing their friend, Rainbow Dash from Skulker.
  • Beyond the Impossible: To Bill's shock, Rick Sanchez develops a solution to destroy Aku that doesn't require Jack's sword.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Aku and Bill Cipher. It was one of Aku's fragments that revived Bill, giving him a new Aku-based form. And now, Bill's using his powers to conquer his own universe while the other fragments infect and destroy other worlds with one fragment already having matured into Aku himself!
    • At the end of "The Assembly", Bill forms a more direct duumvirate with Black Hat.
  • Big Damn Heroes: This series uses this a lot and it's awesome.
    • The first episode has this happen multiple time with each new hero appearing to help stop the gem monster.
    • Ben and Sonic arrive just in time to stop an Aku-ified Tamatoa from killing Steven, Connie, Moana and the Crystal Gems.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: Ford chews out Rick for not better securing the Aku fragment which leads to its escape and Bill Cipher getting revived. On the other hand, Rick does make a good case about wanting to deal with another Aku fragment at Beach City first to study it and find a permanent solution to destroy the demon. He also raises a valid point that restoring Stan's memories meant Bill could be revived as well.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In "Resurrection", Rick's phone reads “Warning: Crossover Imminent” to alert Rick of Ford's arrival.
  • Call-Back:
    • The monster the heroes fought in the first animated short is actually a Gem-like creature from the UFO at Gravity Falls, having somehow acquired a gem and experimented on it.
    • In the final episode to Samurai Jack, Aku was finally defeated when Jack returned to his own timeline and slain his past self. Unbeknownst to the samurai, Aku ordered his scientists to launch and spread pieces of his essences throughout various alternate universes.
    • Bill Cipher was destroyed in the last episode of Gravity Falls when Stan Pines had his mind erased where Bill was trapped in. Then, it's revealed by Rick that since Stan was able to regain his memories, that meant Bill survived his destruction. Bill remained trapped in Stan's head until a piece of Aku fully restored him.
  • Came Back Strong: Aku's resurrection of Bill not only grants him a new black look (complete with a flaming eyebrow), but also some of Aku's powers, like his Eye Beams and some degree of his shape-shifting abilities. What's more, Bill can now possess other beings without needing to make a deal and shake their hands.
  • The Cameo: Adventure, Horror, and Fantasy are briefly seen giving Star the book of Ever After High in the third segment of Aku Takes over the Multiverse.
  • The Chosen One: As revealed by Moana, Team Teen are prophesized to fight Aku's remnants.
  • Combination Attack:
    • Overlapping with Combined Energy Attack, the heroes use their powers at once to counter the gem monster's assault and taking it down for good.
    • Ben(as Cannonbolt), Amethyst and Sonic defeats Tamatoa with their Rolling Attacks.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • In "The Rematch", Mabel reveals that the events of Convergence at Gravity Falls takes place before Weirdmageddon.
    • At the beginning of "Battle of Beach City", a disclaimer informs us that this takes place before Steven's trial on Homeworld.
  • Crazy-Prepared:
    • Dipper carries around the Crystal Flashlight in case he needs it for emergencies like dealing with his mind-controlled classmates.
    • After failing to stop Jack and Ashi from going back to the past, Aku remembers that he had a contingency plan for this. He has his scientists send fragments of his dark essence to as many worlds across the multiverse as possible with little time to spare before his timeline is erased. He may have failed in his world, but he made sure he'll rise again in another...
    • To combat Aku-Bill, Rick invented synthesized chemicals that can actually hurt him. He also injects them into himself, Morty, and the Pines for protection against his Mind Control.
  • Crisis Crossover: The main crux of the series revolves around the Multiverse invaded by remnants of the Sorcerer of Darkness, Aku.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In "Kim vs Ben", the former easily takes out Rath.
  • Demonic Possession: Aku resurrects Bill Cipher and inhabits his body, ironically making this a case where a demon possesses another demon. While Bill is aware of Aku's presence and still retains his own will, it's implied that Aku is ultimately in control, like when he compels Bill to go to Beach City to retrieve another fragment of his essence.
    • It happens again in Battle of Beach City, when Tamatoa gets possessed by another Aku fragment.
    • In the The Meeting, after reviewing everything that happened thus far, Kim surmises that the Aku fragments are actively seeking evil beings to turn into Aku's vessels.
  • Demographic-Dissonant Crossover: Most of the characters in this series come from family-friendly kids' cartoons... with the one exception (thus far) of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Moana was displaced from her time and into the present day thanks to a time portal created by an Aku fragment. Fortunately this allowed her to warn Steven Universe of Aku's existence and she later got back home with help from Professor Paradox.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Not surprisingly, Rick isn't exactly well liked by the vast majority of the other characters, whether it's because of his status as a galaxy-wide criminal or just his general jackassery. Even Ford, the one who seems to tolerate Rick the most (at least, enough to come directly to him for help), is vexed by his tendency to not treat multiversal threats, such as Aku's return, seriously.
  • Fusion Dance:
    • The Fusion Gems. Steven, Connie and the Crystal Gems perform this to stop Tamatoa who lampshades how annoying they are to deal with.
    • Then there's the antagonists and their fusions with the Aku fragments.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The original Aku. He's dead in his original universe, but his sending his fragments throughout the multiverse is the cause of our heroes' current troubles, including the resurrection of Bill Cipher.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Bill decides to leave the Earth alone and rule the rest of the Universe since Rick poses too much of a threat to him. Although, he did stay long enough to absorb another Aku fragment.
  • La Résistance: In The Meeting, Wade reveals that Lightning McQueen, A.J and Blaze (whom Ladybug encountered in Paris) are part of a growing alliance formed to combat the spread of Aku's virus.
  • Magic Is a Monster Magnet: As stated by Tamatoa, the “black ink” (a.k.a. Aku's essence), emits a call that only monsters can hear and they'll stop at nothing to obtain it.
  • No-Dialogue Episode: "Convergence at Gravity Falls", "Aku Takes Over The Multiverse", "The Resurrection", and "Kim vs. Ben" have no dialogue spoken by the characters (not counting the "Last time on" intros in "Aku Takes Over The Multiverse").
  • Not Quite Dead: As surmised by Rick, restoring Stan's memories allowed Bill to reform himself, but not completely as he was still shattered into pieces by Stan's punch. Bill notes that Stan would have died before he found all of his pieces and would have resigned to this fate if it weren't for Aku reviving him.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • In the first short, the heroes has this when the gem monster grew massive.
    • Then, there's the Pine brothers and the Sanchezs' reaction to not only the Aku fragment's escape but also it reviving Bill Cipher.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Aku thinks that since other worlds have no other way of dealing with an Eldritch Abomination like him, it would be all the more easier for him to rebuild his empire. Then again, he himself didn't account for the possibility that a certain drunkard scientist would actually take the initiative to stop him.
  • Pocket Dimension: The world of Ever After High is in one of the books belonging to the Pagemaster.
  • Recap Episode: The Meeting is essentially the Team discussing the events that have transpired up til the fight at Beach City.
  • Seen It All: When Sonic reveals that Turbo is from Ben's world, Ben isn't totally surprised, admitting seeing weirder stuff than a super snail.
  • Shared Universe: In this series, all the characters live in one universe. There are some exceptions, like Sonic and Moana, who come from different dimensions and/or time periods.
  • Speech Bubbles: "The Rematch" and "Battle of Beach City" utilize these along with spoken dialogue, but they were soon dropped in the last couple of parts of Beach City.
  • Villain Team-Up: In The Stinger for "The Assembly", Bill Cipher forms his own alliance with Black Hat to counter that of Team Teen.
  • The Virus: Each of Aku's fragments are essentially a virus that spreads itself by seeking out sources of evil and malice, whether they be dark magic (as seen with Raven) or just genuine evil people (as with Bill Cipher and Tamatoa).
