- Adaptational Context Change:
- While the other duets in the "Confronting Yourself" animation are portrayed as working together like in the original audio, Red is instead trying to kill Cheeky, only for the chaos god to turn the tables and electrocute him.
- Many animations change the context of the original audio to one overarching theme or narrative to keep things interesting:
- Adaptational Heroism:
- Some characters who hated Boyfriend in the game, such as Whitty and Pico, are on good terms with him here.
- In "Mario is Not a Monster?", Monster helped Boyfriend escape the Super Mario 64 video game by short circuiting the Switch with his juice. But only because Girlfriend called him to do it reluctantly, and he didn't leave without stating that water could've done the same.
- Adaptational Villainy:
- Monster was originally just a Soft-Spoken Sadist who had an interest in eating people. Here however, he froze Boyfriend in time. And when he was unfrozen, Monster ran an entire empire complete with a ghost Tankman army.
- Garcello tends to be put in a villainous light as well, with one episode showing him terrorising Boyfriend wherever he goes. However, this is justified because Boyfriend in that episode danced in front of his corpse.
- Adaptational Jerkass:
- Girlfriend suffers from this to extreme levels. In Friday Night Funkin', Girlfriend was the sweet and supportive love interest to Boyfriend and was helpful and didn’t have a mean bone in her body. Here however, she is overly aggressive and will attack and sabotage someone if even the slightest things go wrong for her. However, she did Took a Level in Kindness in the later videos to prove that she isn’t a complete Jerkass.
- Whitty is portrayed as a hot-headed asshole who torments people if something doesn’t go his way. Downplayed, considering that he wasn’t even a saint to begin with though.
- Adaptational Wimp: Botan goes from emotionally unflappable in both HoloFunk and hololive to being put on edge and frightened by Five Nights at Freddy's.
- Author Avatar: Fera himself is based on the creator.
- Demoted to Extra: While Tom and Tord appear singing in the "Animal" and "Manifest" animations, Edd and Matt only make voiceless cameos, due to Edd's song, "Challeng-Edd" not having been made yet, and Matt having a lack of solo mods.
- Drunk on Milk: Annie's mysterious liquid is identified as a soda, and she's addicted to it.
- Mythology Gag:
- Liz is depicted metaphorically running through spacetime as a series of gears and clocks while her partner 016 slouches in the background; she originates from a game that does indeed make use of temporal and dimensional travel with clock motifs.
- Tord's turn in the "Manifest" animation is represented by an almost-exact recreation of one of the final scenes of "The End" from Eddsworld.
- The turn in the "Confronting Yourself" animation with the Sonic for Hire versions of Sonic and Tails quickly turns them into the artstyle of the first Confronting Yourself sprites after they appear.
- Stalker with a Crush: Sky to Boyfriend, as to be expected. She constantly has eyes for him and hates Girlfriend's guts because of their relationship.
- Suddenly Voiced: Newer animations have started implementing voice acting for the characters, when older animations had characters Speaking Simlish with dialogue bubbles.
- The Unintelligible: Nearly all of the characters in the channel speak like this with word bubbles that show what they are actually saying.
- This has recently been Averted with newer animations giving the characters full voice acting.
- Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist: All of the main characters (Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Pico, Fera, Whitty, Daddy Dearest, Sky & Tankman) are all selfish, mean-spirited, petty, rude, inconsiderate, spoiled, annoying, crude, dickish, and short-tempered jerks who yell at people, torment others, and have no concern for anyone around them. With that being said, Boyfriend is a bit nicer and a few of them did take a higher level in kindness in the recent videos.
