Culinary Kakkoii is a short collaborative Visual Novel created in Ren'Py by Tenshi Hanka, Coco, and Gissy Eva. It’s a visual novel game that is basically a cooking show and you (the player) are the judge. You get to decide which dish is the best. And the characters in the game have an... interesting way of cooking. It’s mostly comedy with some surprises here and there.

It was created and released March of 2017. It is available to download for Mac and Windows only, although the one of the creators would say there will be a Linux version... as long as you just say so..

It also has a sequel known as Saute Sugoi

Culinary Kakkoii contains examples of:

  • Animesque: 7 out of 9 humanoids in this game have this trope
    • Kaechi may count as this as well, to a point Marly commented on how big his eyes are
  • Big Fun: Downplayed. Bento is chubbier than the rest of the cast, but is as positive and amicable as the rest of Team B.
  • Butt-Monkey: Bruce gets poorly treated by Marly for how average he is. Gustav had one quips at him before quickly apologizing.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: : Sashimi’s past gets revealed after you fought her in one of the routes that leads to automatically choosing Zed's dishes.
    • Her mother died and father never loved her. She has picked the weak to make herself feel better but it never brought her true happiness. She became a chef later on and while people say she was an awful person, they kept her around because she was a great chef. Sashimi was hoping that being a chef would impress her father but it didn't work. Her father never wanted a daughter to begin with. Yikes.....
  • Dark Secret: Marly’s dark secret is when making his fried rings, he uses squid meat.
    • It is revealed in one of the secret endings is that he cut his own fingers to get the squid meat. That’s disturbing.....
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Bruce is not fond of the fact is called "Average Joe" (by the narrator), "Joe" (by Marly), or "Joey Mc-Bucey" (by Chiyomi).
  • Giant Food: Sashimi's bowl of ramen. It can feed more then one person!
  • Given Name Reveal: If you play the route where you choose his dish for the final round, it will be revealed that Dry Ice’s real name is “Kakkomamie”, much to his embarrassment.
  • Lack of Empathy: Zed makes it explicit that he doesn't care about how other people feel. His reaction to Sashimi's backstory and death is "Wow. Lame."
  • Mood Whiplash: Immediately after your second meeting with Team B, you walk in on Zed and Sashimi in the middle of a knife fight.
  • Multiple Endings: As well as some secret endings
  • Nice Guy: For someone with a hand for a head, Gustav is the nicest member of Team A.
  • Oblivious to Love: Despite her finding Dy Ice to be really cool, when you ask if she has a chance with him, Chiyomi has her doubts, feeling that he may prefer woman older than her, despite some really obvious hints that he does have a crush on her.
  • Odd Friendship: While it's a little downplayed, Team B works well with one another compared to the two other teams.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: If you choose the route on wanting to be friends with Sashimi, she leaves the scene, only to let Zed make his dish for the final round.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Sweet Tooth: Chiyomi. She loves pastries so much that she decided to bake them herself
    • Genius Sweet Tooth: As Marly was chewing Dry Ice for his dish for not using heat for his dish, Chiyomi brought a good point about how some foods are made from being frozen, bringing up pies as an example, much to Marly’s utter shock and ignorance.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Downplayed in some aspects. While Chiyomi invokes the moe qualities up to eleven, she's not particularly small.
  • Unreliable Narrator: More questionable but that's what the narrator of this game is
  • Verbal Tic: Zed laughs with “kekekekekeke”. There’s even a route where you asked why he laughs like that. Indeed.
