Trivia / RahXephon

Go To

  • Anime First: A manga adaptation began before the anime aired, but the manga's designs and characterizations are different from the anime's and the series was conceived as an anime first and foremost.
  • Copiously Credited Creator: In the English dub, Matt Greenfield was the ADR director and scriptwriter, as well as its producer.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: In the episode 15 flashback, Itsuki Kisaragi and Makoto Isshiki's younger selves were respectively voiced by Akiko Hiramatsu and Romi Park.
  • Descended Creator: Ichiko Hashimoto was both Maya Kamina's voice actress and also the series' music composer.
  • Directed by Cast Member: In the German dub, Susanna Sandvoss is Haruka Shitow's voice actress as well as one of the ADR Directors.
  • Late Export for You: RahXephon didn't reach Italy until 2004, with only the first five episodes dubbed.
  • Playing Against Type: Joji Nakata traditionally plays villainous roles. Kunugi is certainly antagonistic, but isn't a villain. And he gets better.
  • Real-Life Relative: Composer Ichiko Hashimoto co-wrote the ending theme with her sister Mayumi Hashimoto.
  • Referenced by...: RahXephon made its Super Robot Wars debut in Super Robot Wars MX, sharing both a roster and plot significance with Brave Raideen (its main inspiration) and Neon Genesis Evangelion (the show which fans often compare it to). To this day, MX is the only Super Robot Wars game in which RahXephon has appeared.
  • Romance on the Set: During the English dub's production, Kim Hotaru's voice actress Tiffany Grant married ADR director/scriptwriter Matt Greenfield. They have since divorced.
  • Studio Hop: At first, the North American home video releases were handled by ADV Films, before switching to its successor Sentai Filmworks.
  • Unfinished Dub: In Italy, Shin Vision dubbed and released the first five episodes on two DVDs in 2004. However, no additional volumes have been released since then.
