  • Actor Allusion:
  • Adored by the Network
  • Billing Displacement: Billy Unger is billed first in the opening, when really, it's Leo who's the protagonist, yet he's listed under the And Starring title.
  • Cast Incest: It's not a true example of "Cast Incest" per se, but Tyrel Jackson Williams admitted he had a real life precocious, "Stacy's Mom-esque", adolescent crush on the actress who played as his mother, Angel Parker. note
  • The Cast Showoff: Billy Unger is a skilled martial artist himself so it's not a shock to see his character Chase pull off amazing martial arts moves shown in episodes like Bionic Birthday Fail and Quarantined.
  • Colbert Bump: On the show's 10th anniversary, Youtuber Keyan Carlile published "The Rise and Fall of Disney's Weirdest Sitcom", a three-hour retrospective of the show partly filmed in Salt Lake City, where the house used for the establishing shots of the Davenport household is located. The video turned out to be a massive hit for Carlile and gave the show a boost in interest and online popularity, just in time for new projects from both the showrunners and one of the actors.
  • Creator-Driven Successor: The cast makes it sound like this for Wizards of Waverly Place. Not only do they share the same director and some crew, but both are about families with special abilities that need to keep a secret while attempting to live normal lives and going on adventures. Technically speaking, they both also rely heavily on special effects as well as occasional fight scenes.
  • Dawson Casting: Bree and Chase are roughly the age of the actors playing them, Bree might be 15 and Kelli Berglund is 16. It's also stated that Bree is older than Chase, although Kelli Berglund is a few months younger than Billy Unger. However, Spencer Boldman became 20 before the 1st season has done airing and Adam is either 16 or 17; it gets particularly jarring in Season 3, in which Spencer is visibly more muscular than before but still portraying a high schooler.
  • Directed by Cast Member: Hal Sparks directed 4 episodes, one in Season 3 and three in Season 4, one of which he doesn't appear in ("Spider Island"). Additionally Jerry Russo directed "Perry 2.0".
  • Hide Your Pregnancy: Angel Parker, who plays Tasha, was pregnant with her second child towards the end of shooting the first season.
  • Meaningful Release Date: "Air Leo" premiered on October 8, 2012, the night of the series premiere of Crash & Bernstein. To tie into the show's premiere, both Lab Rats and Kickin' It ("Wedding Crashers") had Crash and Bernstein star Oana Gregory (Amanda) make guest appearances that night.
  • New Season, New Title: With Season 4 and the subtitle Bionic Island.
  • Real-Life Relative: In one episode, Leo's future-self is played by his Real Life older brother Tyler James Williams.
  • What Could Have Been: Originally, the main characters would be Adam and Brad (now Chase), robots who worked for the government, but escape to live like humans after knowing they would be demolished. This version also wouldn't have Bree. The part where they work for the government has at least been saved for Season 3, after their secret has been revealed.
  • Working Title: Billion Dollar Freshman.
