Go To

  • 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure: After the credits, Patch is now the sidekick of Thunderbolt and the puppies are extras of his show, chasing Dirty Dawson into the sunset.
  • Aladdin:
    • In some additions, the Genie is heard saying "You have been a fabulous audience! Tell ya what, you've been the best audience in the whole world! Take care of yourselves! G'night, Alice! G'night, Agrabah! ¡Adios, amigos!" over the Disney logo. Before the credits begin, Genie interrupts the film strip at the The End with him as the laughing Moon to point at the audience and say "Made you look."
    • In the direct-to-video sequel The Return of Jafar, Harmless Villain Abis Mal made two wishes before agreeing to help Genie Jafar get revenge on Aladdin and his friends. But, before the climax of the final battle, Abis found himself hung up on a tree, and seemed to be forgotten by the story. After the credits, Genie Jafar has been defeated and destroyed, but poor, pitiful Abis Mal is shown still dangling helplessly from that tree.
Abis Mal: Does this mean I don't get my third wish?
  • The Angry Birds Movie provides an interesting example, which in a way combines this trope with One Game for the Price of Two. During the credits, a watermark is displayed in the background. If this is scanned in Angry Birds Action, a new area in the game opens, along with an additional scene from the movie being available for viewing.
  • In Big Hero 6, Fred finds out that his father is a retired superhero, and his father (modeled after and voiced by Stan Lee) tells him, "Son, we have a lot to talk about..."
  • As the credits roll in the second BIONICLE movie, Legends of Metru Nui, the masks of the main characters slowly appear and fade to black. The final mask belongs to the Big Bad Makuta Teridax. After the text has passed, the mask stays there for a moment, a pair of red eyes light up inside the eye sockets, and only then does the mask fade, leaving us with an image of two sinister eyes glowing in the darkness, accompanied by chilly musical tunes. This doesn't count as a spoiler, though, since everyone knew Makuta would return (the movie's a prequel, duh). As for the third movie, there is a quick shot of an attacking Visorak spider that breaks the silence with a sudden buzzsaw-y screech.
  • At the end of Bolt, the closing credits are actually revealed to be pulled by a cartoon hamster in an exercise wheel. The hamster then gets tired and walks away, and as a result, another hamster had to finish the job for him, and starts pulling the credits again to end the movie.
  • In The Boss Baby, Tim's talking clock Wizzie appears at the end of the credits, telling us "Be gone and live your peasant lives. Be gone with you."
  • In The Boxtrolls, Mr. Trout and Mr. Pickles have an existential discussion, wondering if there really is free will and if they're just the puppets of some higher bodies. As they're having this discussion, the camera slowly zooms out to show the tiny set and the scene turns into a time-lapse of the animation of Trout and Pickles, still discussing the universe.
  • Remember the scene in Brave when Merida arranges to buy all of the Witch's woodcarvings if she'll make her a spell as well and the Witch tells her they'll be delivered in a fortnight? After the end credits and before the Disney and Pixar logos, the same guard who was asleep on the job earlier (the one who had half his moustache cut off by Merida's brothers) wakes up again to see the Witch's familiar has indeed delivered them all ("Sign here, please!").
  • At the end of Brother Bear, there is a brief video of Koda telling the viewers that ''absolutely'' no fish were harmed in the movie. Cue random fish swimming away screaming while being chased by a bear. and signals for shooting to stop. He covers the camera with his paws and the screen goes black while the bear burps.
    IT'S GONNA EAT ME!!!
  • At the end of Cars, we actually get to see the minivan couple that's lost in the desert get lost even further.
    • At the end of Cars 3, Mater is seen singing a funny song and is cleaning in his lot. When his phone rings, he gets startled and inadvertently knocks over his reception antenna along with several tires on his shack's roof.
  • At the end of Chicken Little, we actually get to see Chicken Little and his father Buck Cluck in the movie theater one last time. This scene, however, is exclusive to the theatrical and Blu-ray 3D releases of the film, as seen here.
  • Chicken Run ends with the rats Nick and Fletcher getting into a chicken/egg debate. Toward the end of the credits, they are heard still debating, until Rocky tells them to knock it off, causing them to grouse about him and how they did all the work as the credits end.
  • Coco: At the end of the credits just before the "Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures" and "Created and produced at Pixar Animation Studios" information are displayed, a screen reading "To the people across time who supported and inspired us" pops up, along with a mosaic of photos of family members, friends, coworkers and pets of those who worked on the film — a digital ofrenda of sorts.
  • At the end of Coraline, we actually get to see one more footage of stop-motion animation before the film finally ends.
  • The DC Animated Movie Universe featured quite a few:
  • DC League of Super-Pets: During the credits, Lex is still trapped in the machine, while Lulu is rescued by Mercy. Later after the credits, Superman is playing with Krypto in the park, only for them to be accosted by the DCEU-inspired Black Adam and his hound, who happens to be voiced by Dwayne Johnson like Krypto is. The dogs proceed to discuss the concept of anti-heroes, with Krypto arguing that they're not that different from villains, until Krypto tricks the hound into leaving by betting that he'd race him and his owner to Pluto. Krypto and Superman resume playing with each other in peace.
  • At the end of Finding Nemo: During the ending credits, we see the Tank Gang free from their plastic bags. At the end of the credits, there is a scene with the anglerfish where it is eaten by Blenny. Watch it here.
    • The sequel features Gerald trying and failing to get back on the rock—but the real stinger comes in the form of the Tank Gang from the first film arriving at the Marine Life Institute, their bags dirty from the journey. They quickly get swiped up by the same volunteer who captured Dory and presumably put in Quarantine. "No respect for marine life," indeed.
  • Flushed Away ends with Sid resting on the sofa after watching the World Cup final, when Tabetha arrives home from her flight. She is now holding a cat as her new friend. Sid is terrified.
  • Frozen:
    • After the end credits of Frozen, we see Marshmallow, Elsa's Snowlems bodyguard survived his Disney Villain Death. He finds Elsa's lost tiara, puts it on, and settles in as ruler of the empty castle, seemingly content.
    • In Frozen II, Olaf comically sums up the movie's climax to Marshmallow and the Snowgies after the credits.
  • In A Goofy Movie, at the very end of the credits after the "I 2 I" song finishes, Bill Farmer's version of the Goofy Holler is heard.
  • In Happily N'Ever After, a mid-credits scene reveals Frieda was transported to the Arctic after getting knocked through a portal. She complains as she gets surrounded by elephant seals.
  • In Happy Feet, at the end of the credits, Ramon appears and says "Gracias"
    • In Happy Feet Two, Sven appears in a Looney Tunes-style background and says, "Ja, the Svend", as the words appear in script beneath him.
  • Happy Heroes: The Movie ends with a post-credits scene that zooms out from Planet Xing, going to a far-off planet where someone is below the ground, kept in a laboratory with an electric force field around them.
  • Disney's Hercules has one with Hades (who was left trapped in the river Styx at the end of the story) complaining that everybody got a happy ending but him... and then lampshading the fact that the audience is probably gone by now by wondering out loud if anybody's listening.
  • In Hulk Vs., it is shown that Deadpool survived the destruction, only to be crushed by the Hulk when he jumps on him and says "Ouch!"
  • In The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a brief clip of Hugo bidding the audience goodbye and laughing plays before cutting to the Disney logo.
  • At the beginning of the credits for Inside Out, the emotions are shown residing in the heads of several minor characters in the real world.
  • In Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United, Red Skull appears and announces that he has plans for Iron Man and Captain America.
  • Kubo and the Two Strings features a time-lapse sequence during the credits in which the Gashadokuro, a giant skeleton puppet, is assembled and prepped for a scene. It comes to life and attacks the nearest crew member.
  • Kung Fu Panda ends with Po and Shifu eating together by a peach tree. Next to them is the seed Shifu planted earlier in the film, which is finally growing out of the ground.
  • James and the Giant Peach has a rather bizarre sequence in which some kid plays a mechanical carnival game wherein he controls a rhino which attempts to butt spinning copies of the titular hero's horrific aunts; a successful hit causes the target's head to pop off.
  • Approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the credits of Megamind, Minion finds the real, re-hydrated Bernard in the washing machine—and calls out Megamind for it. "Sir, you really need to empty your pockets more often!"
  • In Looney Tunes: Back in Action, after the credits, there is a scene from the casino where Daffy Duck is chased by Nasty Canasta and Cottontail Smith. During the chase, Daffy plays a slot machine and gets a jackpot by matching three cherries. After Daffy escapes, Canasta and Smith are elated and plan to get the winnings only for the slot machine to explode as the cherries were revealed to be cherry bombs. The two bandits faint shortly afterwards.
  • Luca: Uncle Ugo is back home where he complains out loud about people saying he's insane to live in the deep, but he thinks otherwise and considers it a nice life. He says all this to one of Luca's fishes that he was herding at the beginning of the movie and it looks utterly freaked out.
  • In Minions, Stuart, Kevin, and Bob are seen singing, playing musical instruments, and blowing bubbles, followed by a rundown of all the movie characters.
  • In Moana, Tamatoa, the giant coconut crab, is still stuck on his back from when Maui reclaimed his fishhook earlier in the movie. He then complains to the audience that if he was named Sebastian and had a Jamaican accent, they would want to help him.
  • The last part of the closing credits for Monsters, Inc. are played over an extra scene where Sulley and Mike are shown presenting a musical based on the film's plot (written by themselves) to the public.
  • Monsters University has a brick joke after the credits. Remember the scene with the slug who was trying (emphasis on "trying") to make it to his first class on the first day of school? Well, after the credits, we find out that the slug finally made it to class... but it turns out it took him the entire school year for him to get there.
  • About halfway through the credits of Monsters vs. Aliens, the Stephen Colbert-esque President can be seen determining which one of the two big red buttons dispenses the coffee. He accidentally presses the wrong one instead.
  • My Little Pony: Equestria Girls:
    • Towards the end of the credits of the first movie, a humanized Derpy can be seen dancing with a muffin.
    • Meghan McCarthy suggested sticking around after the end credits of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks, and with good reason: after said credits sequence, we see the human world's Twilight Sparkle (with a different hairstyle and a pair of glasses) claiming that there is something strange about Canterlot High. (This scene is sadly missing in the Discovery Family broadcast, partially due to Credits Pushback.) The fact that Spike behind her does not talk lets us to think that this is the Twilight Sparkle of the Equestria Girls universe, who has just now found out about the events of the two movies.
    • Discovery Family's broadcast of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Friendship Games places its stinger before the end credits (and since this was the first time the movie was being seen in America, they had a good reason to keep it). In this stinger, Princess Twilight's only appearance in the movie is her going through the portal and stating that she was unable to get in touch due to being stuck in a time loop (this is a pretty big spoiler, since it refers to the end of season 5) and stating that it was the strangest experience of her life, but not before looking at human Twilight and correcting herself stating that it was the second strangest experience of her life.
    • In My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Legend of Everfree, the post-credits sequence has the girls finally finish rebuilding the dock. Pinkie Pie celebrates by throwing confetti and a few marshmallows at it, completely forgetting that anything with sugar she throws explodes. The dock gets blown up. The girls stare in complete disbelief, and Rarity faints.
  • My Little Pony: The Movie (2017): At the end of the credits, there is a scene where Princess Celestia raises the sun.
  • NIMONA (2023): At the end of the credits, Nimona's hand is seen spray-painting the Anarchy Heart on a wall.
  • Over the Hedge ends with RJ attempting to steal food from a vending machine, except this time accompanied by Verne and the other forest animals.
  • After the credits of ParaNorman, there's a cool little time-lapse sequence showing the construction of the Norman puppet/model from metal armature up. It ends with the completed Norman getting up, yawning, and walking offscreen.
  • In the middle of the credits of Planes: Fire & Rescue, we see the fate of the resident Hate Sink, Cad Spinner- he was reassigned to work at Death Valley. A fitting punishment, wouldn’t you say?
  • In The Peanuts Movie, Linus' model tri-plane finally sputters to a stop over the pond and falls straight in.
  • In Penguins of Madagascar, the team helps get back Private's cuteness by using Mort in Dave's ray. Mort has no visible side effects... but he is able to eat King Julien in one bite now.
  • Puss in Boots: The Last Wish ends with Puss saying "you're still here?", a Brick Joke that references the film's opening scene, where the people of Del Mar continuously applaud him after defeating the Giant.
  • At the end of Ratatouille, we see a cartoon rat sitting on top of the final credit listing. When it disappears, the rat falls to the ground and limps away.
  • Ratchet & Clank has two stingers, one directly after the voice actor credits, and the other at the very end of the credits. The first one shows Dr. Nefarious being turned into a robot like his in-game appearance while the second one has The Plumber berating the viewers for sitting through the credits when the film is already over.
  • The Rescuers Down Under - Right before the credits roll, Wilbur is shown still waiting on Marahute's nest.
Wilbur: HELP! Anybody! Bernard? Bianca! WHERE ARE YOU?! Okay, that's it, I'm outta here! This is ridiculous! You can't leave me here alone! Hahaha! I'm gone! I am GONE! Whew! [The sounds of eggs hatching and chicks chirping] Aw, no. Stay in those eggs! That's a direct order! Awww... (To one of the chicks) Hey! You're kind of a cute little feller. Coochie-choocie-coo [We hear the sound of the chick biting his finger] YOW! WHOA! Ooh! (groans)
  • The Rugrats Movie: After the credits conclude and right before Splaat! of Klasky Csupo fame pops right out of nowhere—Grandpa Lou is sleeping in the Reptar Wagon in the front yard and the goat bucks the wagon out of the yard before then chasing and following it down the street.
  • After Scooby-Doo! Abracadabra-Doo, there's a picture of the Mystery, Inc. van, along with the voice of the (rather snarky) GPS saying that the movie is over and the children watching it should go on with the rest of their lives. Cue laugh, followed by him saying he needs car gas. This happens after the credits and logos finish.
  • Almost all the installments in the Scooby-Doo Direct-to-Video Film Series feature a post-credits scene. Similar to the one listed above, most of them are fairly light-hearted and humorous, even in some of the darker Scooby films. Scooby-Doo: Camp Scare is notable for breaking the mold and featuring a Jump Scare instead by revealing one of the ghosts in the film was Real After All. It manages to be genuinely scary.
  • Sherlock Gnomes: After the credits roll, the animated Gnomes form a 'Sherlock Holmes' logo which is then teased by the animated Moriarty, who is then smashed by the magnifying glass of the logo and says "I hate you, Sherlock Gnomes."
  • After the first credits song in Shrek 2 and before the scrolling credits, we see that Dragon and Donkey had half-dragon, half-donkey hybrid babies.
  • The Simpsons Movie:
    • Has one in the middle of the credits that was a Sequel Hook, with Maggie's second word: "Sequel?"
    • A more traditional one happens near the end of the credits, where we see the Squeaky Voice Teen cleaning up the theater. He then gives the following exchange:
Squeaky Voice Teen: Assistant manager isn't all it's cracked up to be... four years of film school for this?
  • The Super Mario Bros. Movie features a lone Yoshi egg sitting in the wreckage of the Brooklyn sewers. It starts to hatch, then the scene slam cuts to black before we hear one last thing... Yoshi saying his name!
  • The Sky Crawlers initially appears to end with various characters walking away from the base runway after Kannami is killed by The Teacher, but a post-credits scene shows his replacement landing at the base and meeting Kusanagi. It's a far more satisfying ending.
  • Soul:
    • The final piece of footage is Terry popping up from beneath the screen and saying "Oi! Movie's over! Go home!"
    • For the score, we hear the full song of the rap group Joe was in.
  • South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut: After the credits and production logos are shown, Ike is still in the attic waiting when a mouse shows up. Ike then says, "Guys out there is hurted," before eating it.
  • Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Spider-Man 2099 speaks with Lyla about other dimensions. Later, he finds himself in the 1960s cartoon and gets into an argument with that universe's Spider-Man.
  • Space Jam: At the end of the credits, Bugs crumbles the screen and he, Porky Pig and Daffy duck argue over who gets to say "That's All Folks", followed by the Nerdlucks saying it and Michael Jordan saying "Can I go home now?", and then the words "That's All folks!" in written text slide over. This stinger is also used in Teen Titans Go! See Space Jam.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants:
  • In Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Movie), after the credits, Jawas are seen playing with a Lucas logo. When the camera pans up, they freak out, and then drop the object and run away.
  • In Strange Magic, the message-passing mushrooms deliver a final one directly to the audience, mangled as usual by the guy who actually says it: Tea Blend.
  • Surf's Up: After the credits, Glen is seen kicking the crew out by throwing their equipment out the window, and telling them to "Go back to Hollywood", much to Edna's dismay.
  • Teen Titans Go! To the Movies: The original Teen Titans make a cameo during the credits and also after they roll, the Challengers of the Unknown whom Raven had eliminated via portal earlier in the movie, can be seen floating in thin air saying that they had missed the movie.
  • At the end of the credits of The Triplets of Belleville, the guy from whom the protagonist rented a boat is seen, still waiting for it to be returned.
  • In Tom and Jerry: The Lost Dragon, Drizelda, despite being turned into a statue, is shown to still be alive. As a bird tries to perch on her, she breathes a puff a smoke from her nose, replying "Don't even think about it!", scaring it away.
  • Toy Story 4: In the Pixar logo after the credits, instead of Luxo Jr., Duke Caboom rides in on his motorcycle and bounces the letter "I" down with it and receives a high-five from the Combat Carl Soldier who had missed out on one earlier in the film at which the logo instantly cuts to black (the clap sound substituting for the light clicking off).
  • Trolls reveals the final fate of its villains, Chef and Creek, after the credits- as Chef is rolled out of the castle onto a hill, he decides to make a meal out of Creek. But then the hill itself turns out to be a monster and eats them both.
  • In Turning Red, Mei is searching for her 4*Town album CD. She calls out to her father Jin, asking him if he's seen it... just as the camera pans to him jamming out to it.
  • WALL•E follows the ending credits with the title character replacing the burnt out bulb of Luxo Jr. after taking the place of the I in the Pixar logo, and then he replaces the R after knocking it down. Uniquely, this was not shown in theatres (aside from a few trailers) but added to the home video releases. An additional one occurs immediately afterwards, where the "BnL" logo appears complete with the "BnL" jingle.
  • Wish (2023): As a capper to a film meant to honor Disney's 100th anniversary, its after-credits scene has Sabino looking up at the night sky and strumming "When You Wish Upon a Star" on his lute.
  • Wreck-It Ralph:
  • White Snake (2019): The Fox Spirit gives something in a box to a dark force beneath the water.
  • The 2011 Winnie the Pooh movie ends with... well, remember all that stuff Winnie and the gang laid out in an attempt to attract the Backson? Well, they succeeded... in confusing him. Luckily, he seems pretty obliging about falling down the hole they dug for him.
