Here are the different shows, films, and media that reference Choudenshi Bioman.
Anime & Manga
- The main character of Mob Psycho 100 is Shigeo Kageyama. Considering author ONE's age, he was the right age to watch Bioman reruns and he could've gotten Shigeo's name from the human alter ego of Doctor Man, Hideo Kageyama.note
Film — Live-Action
- The Philippines made several films based on Choudenshi Bioman in 1990: Biokids (released in February) and Kabayo Kids (released in April).
- Biokids is an Affectionate Parody of Bioman, but starring Filipino kidsnote who end up wearing roughly the same color-coded costumes as their original Bioman counterparts.note
- Kabayo Kids (literally "Horse Kids") is more of a satirical take of both Bioman and the earlier released Biokids by Tito, Vic, and Joey of Eat Bulaga! fame.
Music
- The comedic trio of Tito, Vic, and Joey also created a parody version of the Voltes V theme back in The '80s containing a name-drop reference to Biomannote .
Series — Live-Action
- As for France, who can forget the Biouman parody by Les Inconnus? The famous skit was broadcast in the Club Dorothée show in the early '90s. It was as much a Super Hero parody as it was a Super Sentai parody.
- Also of note, when Hikari Sentai Maskman was released in France, it was renamed Bioman 2. In turn, when Choujuu Sentai Liveman was also released in France, it was renamed Bioman 3.
- The Zyurangers' Ranger Stick can transform from Gun Mode to Sword Mode, which references the Biomen's Bio Sword that can transform into the Bio Gun.
- The Maskmen's Laser Magnum is a variant of the same design. It instead features a collapsible sword hidden within a compartment of the gun.
- Since Yellow Four II, others like Blue Dolphin, Pink Racer, and PteraRanger have also used the bow and arrow.
- The original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers pitch used Bioman footage and was called Bioman (the repurposed Galaxy Rangers pitch replaced them with Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger footage).
- The fact that MMPR also uses a female Yellow Ranger can be considered a reference to Bioman as well, which is the first sentai series to feature two female rangers instead of just one.
- Though it might be a coincidence, MMPR also named its female Pink Ranger as Kimberly, which is the Philippine English dub name of Hikaru Katsuragi/Pink Five.
- Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger references Choudenshi Bioman as well, particularly with their Doctor Man Expy, Doctor Z. Dr. Man and Z are both mad scientists who have offspring connected somehow to the sentai heroes.
- In Season 2, they also put in references to the suit actor of Bio Hunter Silva as well as the use of Mecha Gigan robot suits instead of CGI giant mecha as their Monster of the Week.
Stage Show
- The first Korakuen Yuenchi Stage Show featuring Kagaku Sentai Dynaman introduces Choudenshi Bioman as new heroes a month before their program aired on Japanese TVnote .
Web Video
- There's also France's beloved web mini-series France Fivenote . France Five, basically a Bioman and Super Sentai Homage, was released by Buki X-1 Productions in the 2000s.
- Its original opening theme is a remix of the Bioman theme, while the ending is a remix of the Choujin Sentai Jetman closing theme.
Western Animation
- In The Amazing World of Gumball, Gumball's Power Rangers and Super Sentai reference specifically uses the circuitry-themed Bioman suits and their respective Techno Braces.
