Go To

"What will our boys find in Wonderland? Well, this arc's called "The Suffering Game", so... nothing great. It's The Adventure Zone!"
The Announcer

See here for the main recap page.

Our boys survived their first encounter in The Felicity Wilds — but will they survive the perils that await them inside of Wonderland? Or like, maybe it's not so bad in there? No, I'm just goofin'. It's pretty dang bad in there. Magnus makes a new BFF. Merle goes dark. Taako considers a job application.

Tropes

  • De-power: When Merle spins the wheel, he sacrifices his ability to see in the dark.
  • Deadly Game: Wonderland gets people to compete in deadly competitions, forces them to make costly physical and mental sacrifices, and encourages betrayal between parties to gain the prize they seek.
  • Emotion Eater: The heroes notice that a sort of fog escapes from their mouths when they say certain things. Taako guesses that something is feeding off of their negative reactions to the game, so they all make an effort to remain upbeat.
  • Fingore: Downplayed. When Magnus spins the wheel, his required sacrifice is to lose a finger. He accepts and gives up a pinkie, which is removed bloodlessly and almost painlessly.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: The nature of the Monster Factory is to roll dice and create a monster to fight. The boys end up building The flying multiplying electric direbear and the multiplying regenerating poisonous slime.
  • Prisoner's Dilemma: The "Trust or Forsake" game gets two parties to determine the difficulty of their next battle through this choice. The team chose "Trust", but the other party chose "Forsake" so they got the hardest version of the next fight.
  • Shout-Out: The third challenge is named after Griffin's other project, Monster Factory
  • Whammy: The Wheel of Decisions the team has to spin is entirely made of Whammy choices. Whatever symbol the wheel lands on, the spinner has to sacrifice something represented by that symbol.
