(CWi Episode: "Nightmare Garden")

The Inner girls become involved in helping run an upcoming bazaar held at a local preschool. Though fun and cooperation are not on everyone's minds as Makoto and Minako begin to fight each other for the heart of the handsome, young principal.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • All for Nothing:
    • Makoto put her heart and soul into patching up a teddy bear. But the bear ends up ruined thanks to her lovesick dope of a friend chasing after the little pest.
    • In the end, she and Minako are heartbroken to learn that Mr. Honjo is (presumably) married and has a devil child for a kid.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Mr. Honjo's dream is to create a flower garden that all his students will enjoy. Cere Cere corrupts his dream by sending ravenous vines and flowers to overrun the building.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Sailor Moon and her team make their entrance by appearing inside one of the giant flowers that blooms on command.
  • Blatant Lies:
    • To try and win over Mr. Honjo, Minako declares that she wants three kids of her own. Her friends can tell how bogus that is.
    • After Kotaro states he doesn't think Minako actually likes kids, it cuts to a clearly pissed off Minako cracking her knuckles and saying "That can't possibly true."
    • A pissed off Makoto assures everyone that she's not angry at all with what Minako did the other day. She says this while crushing an innocent spatula with her bare hands. The Cloverway Dub gives us this precious gem.
Lita: I'm not angry I'M IN MY HAPPY PLACE!
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Kotaro, Mr. Honjo's most aggravating student and son, likes to cause mischief wherever he goes.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: After seeing the teddy bear she made be battered up along with all the destruction she caused, Makoto proclaims that she's no longer besties with Minako. They patch things up after their fight with Cere Cere.
  • Chase Scene: Minako chases Kotaro all around the preschool after he messed with her wet ant-hill creation. As she does, she ends up crashing into everyone's booths.
  • Child Hater: As much as she says otherwise, Minako cannot stand any children.
  • Cold Open: The episode starts with the girls learning from Chibi-Usa and her friends about an upcoming bazaar held by their former preschool. It then shows the girls making goo-goo eyes at the absolute smoke-show of a principal.
  • Commonality Connection: Makoto becomes more enamored with Mr. Hojo after hearing that he wants to create a school garden which coincides with her dream of opening a flower shop.
  • Continuity Nod: Artemis brings up how Makoto and Minako should have new superpowers just like Mercury and Mars.
  • Diegetic Soundtrack Usage: "Moonlight Densetsu" can be heard in the background while a group of children drag the wannabe-idol Minako.
  • Dramatic Spotlight: Makoto gets her own while she's cradling the broken teddy bear in her arms.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point:
    • After Minako walks away accepting that Makoto has put an end to their friendship, Usagi muses that she really didn't want to clean up after herself.
    • Artemis tries to lecture Minako by saying that she should use her original talents to help the school event instead of copying what Makoto does. Minako translates this as using her own original talents to conquer the principal's heart.
  • Evil Laugh: Minako does this when she gains the willpower to steal Mr. Honjo from Makoto using her singing talent.
  • Foul Flower: Cere Cere summons her Dream Eating Tulip Jara Jara to deal with the Sailor Guardians and the principal's Dream Mirror. The Guardians would end up in the jaws of a giant Venus fly trap.
  • Green Thumb: Cere Cere lives up to her Flower Master title by tossing around seeds that transform the preschool into a luscious jungle environment.
  • Here We Go Again!: Artemis says this in the beginning when he sees the Sailor Guardians throw themselves into another wacky situation because of a random hot guy.
  • Image Song: Minako plays a recording of "Route Venus" while preparing for her unofficial sideshow.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: Minako openly declares that she loves kids. She then calls a group of them brats after one of them, Kotaro, draws on her face with a crayon.
  • Instant Sedation: While her friends fight each other over the new target, Cere Cere overpowers them using a special Amazon flower that puts them to sleep after blooming.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: As crude and bratty as he is, Kotaro is at least aware that Minako is lying about her supposed love of children.
  • Just a Kid: Makoto has to remind Minako that the little menace is still a child meaning that she shouldn't give in to violent temptations.
  • Kids Are Cruel: Along with Kotaro, the rest of his schoolmates are just as sadistic when they criticize Minako in her attempts at winning Mr. Honjo's approval.
  • Love at First Sight: The menacing Cupid pierced arrows of amore onto Makoto and Minako, cursing them to love the principal of the preschool.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Everyone is mouth agape when Makoto declares that she won't be chums with Minako.
  • Must Make Amends: Minako offers a stitched up teddy bear as a token of atonement to Makoto.
  • New Superpower: Just like their friends, Venus and Jupiter get new powers.
    • Venus gets Venus Love and Beauty Shock! which allows her to create spinning heart made of light that explodes on impact.
    • Jupiter gets Jupiter Oak Evolution which involves her sending thousands of leaf-sized energy shots while spinning.
  • Never My Fault: The unruly brat isn't even sorry for contributing to the mess he helped create around the school.
  • Pushover Parents: Mr. Honjo doesn't even feel ashamed for admitting that he spoiled Kotaro into being a living nightmare.
  • Roll Out the Red Carpet: Cere Cere makes her entrance at the preschool bazaar by having a red carpet rolled out for her. And from her limousine no less!
  • Running Away to Cry: Minako does this after the children criticize her show.
  • Running Gag: Palla Palla hates it when Cere Cere pretends to play dumb.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Makoto criticizes Minako for making a mess of things and hindering everyone's hardwork.
  • You Never Asked: After blaming her daughter for not telling anyone about Mr. Honjo having a brat for a son, Chibusa retorts that none of them asked her if he was single.
