Art by Crash X Fusion: It's time for the event of the decade you won't forget.

As Luz and Amity prep for their "wedding ceremony", Eda and Abigail deal with their issues towards each other while searching the Blind Eye Society's headquarters.

Tropes that appear in this Chapter:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Once Felicia sees the photos and footage of her mother with a bald head and shaved tail, she chuckles and admits it is kinda funny.
  • Adaptational Explanation: Amity mentions that her eclipse-style necklace is an Azura collectible she's had since she was ten, and we get to see when she gave it to Luz.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Sioux calls Veronica "Nica" when she mentions her. Since she has to be asked who that is, it seems Sioux may have feelings for the faun biped and has been hiding them.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Acorn becomes embarrassed when her mother starts fawning over Sly and asks her daughter to take a picture of them.
  • Ambiguously Human: McCay's presence at the faux wedding and the way he disappeared into the shadows brings what he is into question.
  • Back from the Dead: The Huntsman has been brought back from oblivion by Angel at some point, and he remembers everything from before Rose had eliminated the Huntsclan.
  • Badass in Distress: Rose, an experienced fighter, finds herself being taken hostage by Angel and the Huntsman after the latter knocks her out while she's in shock by his resurrection.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Felicity sees Boscha on her scroll and tells her to not take any pictures. Boscha isn't; she's recording a livestream while the nearby crowd takes pictures of the fox.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Reaching her limit with being interrupted, Luz yells at everybody to put a sock in it so she can explain what her intent was when she proposed to Amity.
  • Bilingual Bonus:
    • Camila's response to the fake wedding idea before supporting it is: "Oh, quĆ© adorable! Una boda fingida para mi mija y su prometido fingido!" Translation: "Oh, how adorable! A fake wedding for my daughter and her fake fiancĆ©!"
    • After hearing that Morty told Jessica about the portal to the Human Realm, Luz proceeds to rant in Spanish, saying "No puedo creer que tenga que lidiar con esta mierda!" Translation: "I can't believe I have to deal with this shit!"
  • Bouquet Toss: Luz performs this during the reception, and Barcus catches the bouquet to give to the Cerberus sisters.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • After appearing in flashbacks in "The Long, The Witch, and the Ninja", the Huntsman shows up in the present alive once more.
    • Nathan B. Colorfeather, the peacock biped demon who covered the story about Belos ending the school wars in "After the War", reappears to cover the scandal on S.C.O.R.N. being involved with the Grim Goblin.
    • Sly low-key crashes the wedding after disappearing since "What is it Good For?", wanting to see Lumity's faux ceremony and updating them on the shift in power on Avalon before taking Amity as an apprentice.
  • But Now I Must Go:
    • After observing the wedding, Rose decides it's time for her to return to New York.
    • Now that she's a Time God protecting the LCU time stream, Jessica has become an agent for the Bureau of Time Travel and leaves the Demon Realm, effectively letting Morty down gently.
    • Seeing that Luz has had a family and friends to look out for her in the Demon Realm all her life, Camila decides it's time to become her own person outside of being her daughter's mother. As such, she is considering taking up Powers and Trigger's offer to get her on her feet in the Human Realm so she can move to Gravity Falls in the future to prepare for when Luz comes to spend time with her, Abigail, and Clara once her business in the Boiling Isles is complete.
  • Call-Back:
    • Luz refers to her friends as the "Junior Bad Girl Coven", the same name Gus P. suggested and Amity said they'd workshop in "After the War".
    • Mattholomule mentions the last two times he missed out on visiting the Human Realm; this time, he finally gets his chance to see it.
    • Luz seems to have grown her hair out enough to both keep objects in her hair (an ability she lost after getting her hair cut in "Escape") and be able to keep it in a ponytail again (which she did for the seancĆ© and Grom.) And like in "Escape", Cat takes the opportunity to style it.
    • Pacifica mentions that she and her mom have been working things out after what happened between them following Preston's arrest 10 chapters ago.
    • Eda informs Abigail of the dream she experienced at Mel's hands and how she appeared in it. The two women soon realize that Abigail actually did appear in Eda's dream.
  • Childhood Marriage Promise: The faux wedding as a whole is meant to parody this, as Luz wants to use it to symbolize her dedication to Amity and vice-versa for when they're old enough to actually get married.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Faust receives a note saying "bad students are created due to bad principals". He completely fails to get how the meaning's directed at him.
  • Continuity Cameo:
    • Kenny shows up again as a test model for Arthur and Destiny's products.
    • Pastor McCay is seen near the end of the chapter observing the reception.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Dipper and Janna finally meet each other outside of the online forums.
    • The first prank Luz pulls is causing a ghost infestation, something she did all the way back in "The Owl Lady's Daughter".
    • Felicia is seen acquiring information from Beel, AKA "Thorax", on S.C.O.R.N. for Luz.
    • Kitsuni brings up her ban from the Human Realm after Luz invites her to the wedding.
    • Eda and the witchlings use their Grom clothes for wedding attire and the SSE, who played as a band for Grom, provides the wedding music alongside Gus G. and Skara and they perform "Purple Rain".
      • Speaking of formalwear, Rose dons her typical one-strap pink dress and Rudo dresses like a monk again.
    • Amity admits that she should've heeded Marco's warning about "Janna-nigans" after Janna gets Odalia and Geist to sing an adult-targeted song at the reception.
  • Costume Evolution: A minor but significant case. Due to the exchanging of personal items for the wedding, Amity is now wearing Luz's skull earrings and Luz is now wearing Amity's eclipse necklace.
  • Culture Clash: The human adults speak out against the girls getting married at first since they're too young, but none of them let Luz clarify whay she meant by it until she gets everbody's attention.
  • Damsel in Distress: As stated above, Rose is captured by Angel and the Huntsman, who proceed to use her as a barganing chip against Eda and Abigail to prevent them from leaving the Blind Eye headquarters with any information they may have gathered on the group.
  • Damsel out of Distress: As Angel observes the Huntsman fighting Eda and Abigail, Rose takes the chance to loosen her bonds enough to get the drop on Angel.
  • Dance of Romance: Several teased-couples share one alongside the faux brides at the wedding reception. There are platonic cases however, as seen with Wendy & Vee (who has a crush on someone else), Pacifica (who's taken) & Grenda, and Camila & Abigail.
  • Dance Party Ending: Before seeing Angel and the Huntsman escaping, we're treated to everybody dancing at the reception as Robbie, then the Shadowy Secret Expozers, perform "Everybody Talks".
  • A Day in the Limelight: While the girls make preparations for the wedding, Eda and Abigail investigate the lead on the Blind Eye Society by searching their former hideout at the Gravity Falls history museum. It leads to the two of them admitting their issues with each other and about Angel before they start to make nice with each other for their daughters' sakes.
  • Death by Adaptation: Under unknown circumstances, Blendin perishes during a mission through time with Jessica.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": The Huntsman doesn't like being called "Jeff".
  • Eat the Rich: Luz and the Blight twins spray paint this on Blight Industries as part of Luz's payback against the twins' grandparents.
  • Enemies List: As part of her mock bachelorette experience, Luz recruits her friends to get revenge on every prick who's pissed her off enough. Namely, they go after all the people who had a hand in getting the Blight parents to divorce...and Faust.
  • Everyone Can See It:
    • Amity admits to Janna that she figured out she had a crush on Marco.
    • Patti outs Sioux having an implied attraction to Veronica to Jerbo and their friends.
  • Everyone Meets Everyone: Janna, Jackie, and Marco get to meet all of the human kids and adults staying in Gravity Falls along with Luz's immediate family when they attend the wedding as do the rest of Wendy's friends, Dipper and Janna meet IRL, King properly meets the Gates women, Gus P. and Amelia introduce Matt to Gus G, Luz introduces Boscha to Old Man McGucket and Juniper gets to meet Sly.
  • Expy: Twin investors Ranet and Tenar are expies of Tomax and Xamot from the G.I. Joe franchise.
  • Fighting from the Inside: Subverted. Angel pretends to do this in order to bait Eda and Abigail into letting their guard down so the Huntsman can shoot them. Their plan fails thanks to Abigail warning Eda in time.
  • Flipping the Bird: Eda's headless body performs this to the Huntsman for decapitating her.
  • Foreshadowing: Rose's reaction to her attacker's face indicated that it was someone she hoped not to see again.
  • Forgiveness:
    • Amity officially forgives Odalia for everything that's happened between them during the reception.
    • To some degree, Eda and Abigail start to forgive each other for their roles in Angel's death and Eda accidentally kidnapping Luz, acknowledging and respecting her wish to have both women as family.
  • Full-Name Ultimatum: Unlike Eda, Abigail only refers to Angel as "Angelica".
  • The Ghost:
    • Mabel is repeatedly brought up. Due to being in California, she can't attend the wedding but offers advice on helping Amity pick out her wedding dress to her friends.
    • Both of Luz's fathers are brought up as she, Dipper, and Camila wish that Stan and Manny could see her get "married".
  • Gibberish of Love: Once Amity has heard Luz's reason for wanting to faux-marry her, she tells her girlfriend that she could've proposed better. Luz soon starts stammering in embarrassment, subjecting her to light teasing from her friends.
  • Graceful Loser: Even though she feels like a third wheel to her friends now, Janna is happy they got together.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: From what Jessica says, Blendin performed one of these to save her.
  • If Only You Knew: Abigail's hatred toward Eda regarding Luz is due to all the life-threatening scenarios Luz has gotten herself into; it all convinces Abigail that Luz would've been better off with her. The second What If? chapter established that while Luz would've had a safer childhood with Abigail, she wouldn't have been happier since Abigail would neglect her eventually and the rest of Gatesfield alienated her due to her quirks. Abigail even lampshade how Luz would have probably been miserable if she raised her there.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Clara admits to Abigail that she and Amity know about Eda killing Angel. Amity also tells the Gates women about Odalia suggesting Lilith curse Eda, her disowning her family name because of it, and her strife with Lilith which nearly cost her godmother her life.
    • Thanks to Luz, Gus P, Felicia, Beel, and the Isles now know that the Grim Goblin is connected to S.C.O.R.N.
    • Luz and Eda are both informed of Odalia's current living situation.
    • Eda realizes that Abigail was the Huntsgirl she encountered 26 years ago.
    • Mattholomule, Odalia, Geist, Gwendolyn, Dell, the rest of the SSE, Morty, Summer, Jessica, and Vina visit the Human Realm for the first time.
    • Lee, Nate, Tambry, Thompson, and Mr. Poolcheck learn that Luz was raised by a witch in another realm.
    • Sly informs Luz and Amity about Oberon being dethroned by Maleficent.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Since Marco's dating Jackie now, Janna goes against telling Marco how she feels about him since she wants them to be happy even though she's put in the effort to be nicer to him.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty:
    • After Arthur, Destiny, and Gibson escaped unpunished for their actions in the trial, Luz pays them back by sabotaging their businesses. Gibson finds himself outed for creating the Grim Goblin suit and weaponry, and Arthur & Destiny are put under investigation for manufacturing malfunctioning abomatons, not that they needed to do that much damage since their other new products are lethal enough to warrant a search for safety code violations.
    • Abigail suffered all her life in Gatesfield thanks to her parents making sure she was labeled insane for trying to convince people Angel was brought back from the dead. It turns out to have gotten to the point where she apparently caused their deaths.
  • Karmic Trickster: Luz (with some help from her friends) pulls tricks on Faust, Kikimora, Felicity, Gibson, Arthur, and Destiny.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: As part of Luz's pranks of revenge, the following victims suffer;
    • Faust ends up being haunted by joke-telling ghosts in his office after Luz drops a ghost ball in his coffee mug.
    • Kikimora is given a fake ticket before being launched into the sky with an ice glyph and ending up in a manure cart.
    • Felicity has the top of her head shaved along with her tail by Cat after being restrained by Amelia in a fake barbershop.
    • Gibson is put in a scandal both for creating the Grim Goblin teck and for the accusations that he knew Cluckington was a cannibal.
    • Arthur and Destiny find themselves and their investors attacked by faulty abomatons that Luz, Edric, and Emira tamper with.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Eda snarks that Jake setting the restaurant he proposed to Rose in on fire makes him like Jonathan, which she and Rose share a laugh about.
  • Literal-Minded:
    • Part of a witch marriage ceremony is "officially tying a knot to symbolize their unity of love for each other."
Amity: We witches like to take a lot of things literally.
    • During the reception, Luz and Dipper note that Stan is this in spades as he likely would've brought a shotgun to the wedding had he been able to attend.
  • Luminescent Blush: Amity and Camila have some awkward ones due to Odalia and Geist performing "Afternoon Delight".
  • Make-Out Kids: Emira and Viney sneak away from the festivities for a private make-out sesh in the forest while concealed by an illusion.
  • Meet the In-Laws: Edric and Emira introduce themselves to Dipper as his sibling-in-laws during the wedding reception.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: It's Morty's own fault Jessica ends up dumping him; by telling her about the portal and bringing her to Earth, she ends up on an adventure with Blendin and becomes a time god and agent protecting the time stream.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • When Jake tried proposing to Rose, he set a restaurant on fire.
    • Marco mentions that Eda broke into his house when she went to find him in Echo Creek.
  • Not Helping Your Case: As Luz tries to explain her proposal, Maya brings up her sharing a bed with Amity and raising Kay together; worse, the way she puts it makes Abigail angrier and attempt to chew out Eda.
Maya: I think I speak for everyone that you're really going too fast, Luz. Like, it's enough you and Amity sleep together and have a kid to raiseā€¦
Abigail: (glares at Eda) A kid!?
    Eda: It's a gillchild, and Amity's godsister!
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Jessica leaves the reception with Blendin to fix a time problem using magic and succeeds, which leads to her becoming a Time God.
  • Once More, with Clarity: The opening scene has the Clawthornes bringing King, Hooty, and Camila up to speed on the faux wedding, a flashback explaining what had happened after Luz proposed to Amity and Abigail confronted her about it.
  • Point of Divergence: Luz is given Amity's eclipse necklace long before she was shown to have received it in "Watching and Dreaming".
  • Pretend to Be Brainwashed: After Eda and Abigail reveal to Angel that they found her memory tube, she acts like she's starting to remember her past friendship with Eda. Rose's warning combined with Abigail telling Eda to duck shows Angel was trying to lure them into a false sense of security so Jeff could execute them from behind.
  • Quirky Girl, Quirky Tux: Besides Luz (the groom), Eda, Skara, and Amelia (who're reusing their Grom tuxedos), Lilith, Odalia, Eve, Janna, and Dana all wear suits to the wedding. Downplayed with Masha, who wears a jacket with a skirt and pants underneath.
  • The Reveal:
    • Jake and Rose are revealed to be engaged, but they haven't settled on a date yet. Haley and Susan are currently planning out the ceremony.
    • Marco ended up asking Jackie out due to all the recent chaotic events they've endured, and Janna's decided against confessing to him. Amity also realized it was Marco that Janna had feelings for.
    • Willow was among those who were traumatized by the rabbit incident.
    • Angel's memory tube was stored in a secret room within the Blind Eye headquarters at the Gravity Falls museum.
    • Abigail actually did appear within Eda's personal Hell somehow due to their dreams somehow linking together.
    • Eda fell hard into drinking and substance abuse because she wanted to forget the guilt of her past mistakes; her abuse led to her cutting ties with the Longs.
    • Kitsuni informs Luz that Heaven and God are currently being investigated for the attacks recently caused by the Exorcisits. She's also been looking into the Horned King (and found little info on him) and learned of another Horned King causing trouble in the realm of Prydain.
    • Morty told Jessica about the portal, and she ends up being the girl Blendin was looking for who he needed to help him fix a problem using her magic.
    • Angel somehow managed to bring the Huntsman back to life.
    • Abigail seems to have killed her parents as payback for causing her suffering back in Gatesfield.
    • Vina recognizes Ford, which means she had some interactions with him before her death.
  • Saying Too Much: Abigail lets slip that she may have orchestrated her parents' demises, moving on before Eda can question her.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After making clones of the Clawthornes to fool the scouts staked out at the Owl House, Kitsuni bails out when Hooty asks if she's also going to be keeping him company.
  • Seen It All: Robbie as always, along with Poolcheck, are used to the strangeness that comes with knowing Luz's background.
  • Sequel Hook:
    • Gibson is in deep doodoo now that his company has been linked to the Grim Goblin, while Blight Industries will now be under investigation for safety code violations due to Arthur and Destiny cheaping out on making their products.
    • Camila decides to get a head start on spending time with Luz and the Gates family by beginning to make a life for herself in Gravity Falls.
    • Eda gives Rose the heads-up on how the Long family should be expecting a visit from her soon.
    • After receiving advice from Lilith, Ford decides to make progress in making peace with Stan.
    • Sly offers to become Amity's mentor in mastering her Fae power, and she takes him up on it.
    • The Huntsman has now allied with the Archangels, and Angel is now in possession of her memory tube. Time will tell if she actually watches what's on it.
  • Ship Sinking: Morty and Jessica end up bottoming out due to her experiences traveling through time and newfound duties as a Time God, but she leaves on peaceful terms with him and encourages him to move on.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Bouncing off their meeting in the previous chapter, Amelia calls Gus G. cool when telling Matt about him, and they later share a dance during Robbie's set at the wedding reception.
    • In addition to the former two, Dipper & Candy, Clara & Masha, and Nora & Ian also also dance with each other at the reception.
    • Patti brings up Sioux wanting to bring Veronica, or "Nica", to the wedding, to Sioux's dismay.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Luz imitates Willy Wonka's "Tunnel of Hell" poetry while messing with Arthur and Destiny at Blight Industries.
    • Gus G's formal wear for the wedding is a Black Parade suit.
    • Kitsuni mentions the events of The Black Cauldron when detailing what she found about the other Horned King.
    • Jessica got trapped in the Time Stream offscreen and becomes an agent of the Bureau of Time Travel. She also mentions that Professor Time sends his congratulations to Lumity.
    • Odalia and Geist perform "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band at the reception. Robbie and the SSE also perform "Everybody Talks".
  • Side Bet: Turns out Amelia and Cat have been betting on whether Luz or Amity would propose to the other, and so have the troublemakers. Since Luz popped the question, Cat and Barcus get paid, and Boscha, Skara, and Bo are left shocked or speechless about it.
Amelia: Hey, to be honest, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
  • Stag Party: Downplayed and gender-inverted. To celebrate her "marriage", Luz asks the Junior Bad Girl Coven to join her in a mock bachelorette party by completing her "shit list", aiding her in pranking her most hated enemies.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Abigail admits she actually pities Angel being seen as the daughter Isaac and his wife truly wanted; Angel takes this as mockery in contrast to the sadness she had been expecting from Abigail.
  • Take That!: When Nora asked if teen marriage was normal in witch culture, Boscha mentioned that most usually got married right out of high school, with Masha mentioning it was like what people did in the 60s.
  • Tears of Joy: Boscha and Camila shed these once Luz & Amity kiss at the ceremony, and Boscha's still crying during the reception.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Luz invites Odalia to the faux wedding so at least one of Amity's parents are in attendance and despite the bad blood between her and Emira, Odalia agrees and they maintain their distance so as not to ruin the big event for Amity.
  • Toilet Humor: For her revenge on Kikimora, Luz sends her flying into a manure cart.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Jessica keeps Blendin's goggles with her after he ends up sacrificing himself for her.
  • Trash the Set: To cover the Archangels' tracks connecting them to the Blind Eye Society, Angel takes the risk of returning to Gravity Falls and clearing out the memory tubes in their former headquarters before blowing it up, causing the history museum to sink into the ground as a result.
  • Unconventional Wedding Dress: Looking through several gothic dresses instead of finding a white one, Amity chooses to wear a blue and white dress that reminds her of Azura.
  • Unfazed Everyman: Aside from Robbie, Tambry doesn't share the same surprise as her friends about Luz's origin story, casually taking pictures of everything on her phone. Nora also sees that Poolcheck isn't really bothered by any of this.
Poolcheck: I have seen things that would have driven any other man mad.
  • The Un-Reveal:
    • Neither Eda nor Abigail had a dream medallion, so how was the latter able to enter the former's dreams?
    • Seeing as the Huntsman was disintegrated when Rose made her wish, it isn't explained how Angel brought him back to life.
  • The Voiceless: Pastor McCay makes a surprise appearance at the wedding hidden away and observing it from afar, and he has no lines.
  • Wacky Marriage Proposal: During the flashback explanation to Camila, everybody (notably the Blight twins) treat Luz's proposal as such since it seems very in-character for her.
  • Wartime Wedding
  • Wedding Episode: Following Luz's proposal in the last chapter, she declares that she wants her and Amity to have a mock wedding ceremony for the sake of hoping for a bright future where they can have a proper one. Serving as more of a promise to be together even when apart because of everything that's keeping them separated, everyone agrees to entertain the idea.
  • Wham Episode: With Lumity's faux wedding ceremony comes Amity forgiving Odalia, Sly offering to mentor Amity in mastering her fae abilities, and Lilith accepting Odalia's help in learning who killed Vina. Eda and Abigail start to forgive one another for what happened to Angel, who's revived the Huntsman, destroyed the Blind Eye Society's headquarters along with the Gravity Falls history museum, and escapes with her memory tube in hand.
  • Wham Shot: The Huntsman's return, which is very confusing considering he was erased from existence.
