Art by Crash X Fusion: When Eda gives punishment, she goes straight for the head.

As Eda gives Luz "the talk", Amity gives the twins a talking to, and King has a magical encounter.

Tropes that appear in this Chapter:

  • Adaptation Expansion: Edric and Emira are shown seeing how much pressure Amity's always under and how their pranks negatively affect her, which leads to them pulling back on embarrassing her and looking out for her more.
  • The Alternet: The Boiling Isles' version of the internet is called the "maginet".
  • Anything but That!: Luz is horrified when Eda decides to give her the extended take of "the talk", beyond where babies come from.
  • Attention Whore: Lampshaded by Emira, who accuses Amity of being one.
  • "Begone" Bribe: Somewhat invoked. Eda asks King to leave, but he takes his cut of the Bat Queen's payment with him.
  • Berserk Button: Amity snaps when Emira says she's always acted like she's better than her and Edric ever since she abandoned Willow.
  • Bitch Slap: Amity doesn't hesitate to give one to Emira after she accuses her of admitting she's better than the twins and ending her friendship with Willow. It's the second one she's taken in the timespan of a few hours.
  • Breather Episode: There isn't any action, fighting or large antagonistic force; the majority of the chapter is two different families having some very important conversations.
  • Broken Tears: Amity sheds these after panicking due to Emira accidentally triggering her trauma.
  • Call-Back:
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Instead of punishing Luz for sneaking out, Eda decides to give her a long, detailed talk about sex. Luz doesn't see any difference.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The chapter's B-plot places focus on the Blight siblings and their working out the issues between them.
  • Embarrassing Browser History: Eda went through Luz's maginet history and printed out pictures from the mature sites she visited.
  • First Love: Although she's felt attraction to other people in the past, Luz feels something more with Amity and comes to terms that Amity's her first real crush.
  • Heel Realization: The twins realize just how unfair they've been to Amity after pressing her Trauma Button.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Due to the Fae messing with him, King believes he has gained magic while partying in the club. When the fae takes it back, King is left trying to figure out how he did what he did until the former confesses.
  • Immediate Sequel: Things pick up right after Luz tells Eda she has a crush on Amity now. From Amity's POV, she's just arrived home and is confronting the twins about what they did at the library.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Edric and Emira learn about Amity's mugging and that she tried to find her attackers the other night.
    • King encounters the fae and informs Luz and Eda about him.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Luz admits even if Amity doesn't return her feelings, she'll still support her and whoever she does end up liking.
  • Lack of Empathy: Amity bluntly states that the twins have never cared how their pranks have affected her or how they've been mocking her about the ghost infestation.
  • Little "No": Luz gives one as Eda begins explaining the "diet-fram".
  • Lockdown: Hooty goes into one once Eda says the "S" word. Every exit is locked down, even the fireplace.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: The twins point out how much they don't know about Amity since she's been distancing herself from them.
  • The Man in the Mirror Talks Back: The chapter ends with Luz's reflection taking the form of her as a 5-year old asking her if she's really gonna risk getting hurt again over having a crush.
  • Noodle Incident: Eda did it with a redhead at a Stevie Nicks concert.
  • Playing the Victim Card: Ed and Em try to act like the victims beaten at Luz's hands, but Amity doesn't buy it.
  • Playing with Fire: King shoots fire out of his hands as a result of the Fae lending him magic.
  • Please, I Will Do Anything!: When Emira picks Amity up by her collar in anger, Amity flashes back to her mugging and starts yelling and begging to not be hurt. This causes the twins to realize what happened.
  • The Reveal:
    • The guy Eda was once married to is from the Human Realm and they honeymooned in Las Vegas.
    • The creature with the moving shadow is a Fae.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Seeing the angry mob that's forming to attack him for shorting out the speaker, King bolts out of the club through the fire escape.
  • Secret-Keeper: Amity swears Edric and Emira to secrecy with the Everlasting Oath before telling them of her attack.
  • Shock and Awe: The Fae has lightning powers that he allows King to temporarily use.
  • The Talk: Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
  • Torches and Pitchforks: In response to King accidentally destroying the club's speaker, one of the patrons suggests raging as an angry mob in response, causing him to bail.
  • Trauma Button: Emira presses Amity's hard, which allow her and Edric to learn the truth why she snuck out a few nights ago.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: Luz ends up puking her guts out in the bathroom because Eda over explained her first experience having sex.
  • Wham Episode: Edric and Emira discover that Amity was mugged and are sworn to secrecy via an everlasting oath which also causes them to start looking out for their sister more. Meanwhile, King encounters a creature called a Fae, which are considered dangerous. And while Luz accepts her crush on Amity, she has to content with her inner doubts about it.
  • Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: Luz has these after Eda tells her they're having The Talk.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: If Emira adresses Amity by her name instead of by "Mittens", you know how angry or worried she is towards/for her baby sister.
