Home is wherever I'm with you.

The McKinley alums return for Homecoming, including Artie Abrams, Becky Jackson, Brittany Pierce, Mercedes Jones, Noah Puckerman, Quinn Fabray, Santana Lopez and Tina Cohen-Chang. The former New Directions members agree to help Rachel and Kurt recruit for the resurrected glee club. Blaine faces a problem when a girl named Jane Hayward, newly admitted to Dalton Academy, wants to join the all-male Dalton Academy Warblers.

Next Time: A question is asked, one a certain section of Gleeks have been dreaming of hearing for a very long time.

Songs:

  • Viva Voce by The Rocketboys, performed by Roderick
  • Take On Me by a-ha!, performed by the glee alumni
  • Tightrope by Janelle MonĂ¡e, performed by Jane with the Warblers
  • Problem by Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea and Big Sean, performed by the Unholy Trinity with the Cheerios and Artie
  • Mustang Sally by Wilson Pickett, performed by Roderick with the Unholy Trinity
  • Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, performed by the glee alumni, New Directions, and Spencer

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: By Brittany, yet again:
Brittany: (to Kitty) I know your name, it's Quinn.
    Quinn: (affronted) I'm Quinn.
    Brittany: Liar!
  • And Another Thing...:
Quinn: I will be taking these. Yeeeehhh.
Sam: Yeah. And Quinn once had sex with a Latina lesbian.
  • Broken Pedestal: Some of the Tea Party kids honest almost god-like worshipped Quinn, but they're also homophobic, misogynistic, and xenophobic. Then they hear that Quinn had sex with a Latina lesbian - the three things they hate the most. If some of their faiths in both these beliefs and Quinn were really that strong, they will be devastated by the knowledge.
  • The Cameo
    • Dianna Agron as Quinn Fabray
    • Mark Salling as Airman First Class Noah Puckerman
    • Amber Riley as Mercedes Jones
    • Jenna Ushkowitz as Tina Cohen-Chang
    • Kevin McHale as Artie Abrams
    • Heather Morris as Brittany Pierce
    • Naya Rivera as Santana Lopez
    • Lauren Potter as Becky Jackson
  • Call-Back: Sam telling the new combined God Squad and Celibacy Club (Tea Party Patriots!) that Quinn had sex with a Latina lesbian, and searching for the singer (Roderick) in the showers because that's where him and Finn were found singing. Santana asking if the Cheerios don't want to do more than be shot out of cannons.
  • Celebrity Paradox: The show manages to be aware of the fact that it shouldn't exist within itself for once, when Kurt tells Spencer that he has "glee" (presumably the club, not the show) to thank for the acceptance of homosexuals, Spencer counters that he has TV like Modern Family to thank actually. Because it's not like glee has had an effect on people outside of the school, the effect of the show being replaced with another show's name. Although the regular use of Aesop Amnesia and the Reset Button to maintain the Status Quo Is God with regards to many core points of the show (e.g. the glee club kids always being at the bottom of McKinley's social totem pole) makes this ironic since in-universe Spencer is correct — the old glee club never really changed attitudes, the previous New Directions merely escaped them by graduating or leaving the school. So any changes in attitudes would have to be attributed to another source. Humorously, no reference is made to the AU version of "Glee" introduced on one of Ryan Murphy's other shows, The New Normal, which was titled "Sing".
  • Homage: To the video of "Take On Me".
  • Mistaken for Gay: All of the Warblers would like Blaine to know that they have girlfriends, bringing in Blatant Lies as a sub-trope. We're looking at you Super Gay Warbler and Other Really Gay Warbler. Heck, we're looking at all of you!
  • One-Liner:
    • Quinn: "Artie, are you drawing me?" Artie: "Nope, just your boobs."
    • Rachel: "...[the glee kids] would never make fun of me." Brittany: "Hmm, not to her face, no way."
    • Sam: "and Quinn once had sex with a Latina lesbian. Learnt that in glee club. Ooooohhh."
    • Sam: "It's always in the showers."
    • Tina: "What has happened to America!"
    • Quinn: "I am morally outraged."
    • Quinn: "I will be taking these."
    • Alums: "Sshh!"
  • Reality Subtext & The Bus Came Back: Kitty is the only new kid who survives S4/5. Tragic reasoning ensues: on 7/10/14, three days prior to the one-year anniversary of the death of Cory Monteith, Becca Tobin's boyfriend was found dead under nearly exact circumstances. Lea Michele, who in addition to being main cast, was also being used as something of a consultant for the last season (as were most of the originals and the Creators Favorites), became very close with Tobin, bonding over their tragedies. Presumably, in a case of both Money, Dear Boy and wanting to keep Tobin busy, she asked Murphy to write Kitty into Season 6.
  • Refuge in Audacity: By Sue, but not in her customary "you think this is hard?" Instead she says that the Homecoming dance has been canceled because of Shariah Law.
  • Throw It In!: Chord Overstreet bumping into Dianna Agron and floundering around then manhandling her out, as well as Dianna's resultant laughter as they leave the Tea Party, taking the muffins with them. If you listen closely, or turn the volume up, you can hear Chord say "come on, it's fine".
  • The Voice: Quinn isn't in the filmed sequence of "Home", but she sings parts of it.
