Chapter 2: Get Ready
Muko and Cookie ready to begin the furry fighting journey.
Inspired by the fight of Fenny and Roora, Muko decides to become a Combagal. After quitting her job, she goes to meet her new manager, Cookie, who teaches Muko everything she needs to know about becoming a Combagal.
- Amusing Injuries: Muko gets kicked in the face by Roora, a professional Combagal, hard enough to send her and the security guards flying and crashing into a wall. It leaves her with a bump that requires a bandaid, but she considers the experience Worth It because it's the same as getting an autograph from Roora.
- Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Cookie notices that Muko has no physical training, no fighting experience, no knowledge about furry fighting, and her desire to become a Combagal is mainly out of lust...and she's more than happy to have her as a Combagal despite of it.
- Bathing Beauty: When Muko goes to meet Cookie, she has to go through a soapland first. She's met by a cute panda dressed in a towel.
- Book Dumb: Muko knows nothing about furry fighting. Everything she learned about it was from seeing pictures in the magazines.
- Brick Joke: Muko quit Cafe Carrots because she was going to become a Combagal and therefore didn't need it. Unfortunately, becoming a Combagal requires building an image to promote herself and Cookie's first stop has Muko get a job at the cafe she just quit yesterday.
- Catchphrase: When Muko points out that Cookie is smaller than expected, Cookie yells out a response that will recur in many chapters.
- Cookie: (yelling angrily) For a squirrel, I'm tall!
- Censor Steam: Fenny and Roora have hot steam surrounding their bodies as they shower to prevent the audience from seeing them fully naked.
- Cosplay Café: Muko works in one named Cafe Carrots. It's filled with maids who serve customers.
- Custom Uniform of Sexy: To Cookie's approval, Muko shows up the next day with an attire that shows her midriff. She firmly believes that Combagals need to provide fanservice.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Implied with Cookie the day after meeting Muko. She's worried about messing things up again, implying that there are more darker reasons for her poor reviews than living in the janitor's closet of a soapland.
- Distracted by the Sexy: The security guards caught Muko by the time she opened the door. However, the sight of a naked Fenny and Roora left them paralyzed because of their beauty. Roora punishes them by kicking Muko into them.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Snuggly appears as one of the Combagals in Cookie's lesson of what Combagals do when they're not fighting in the ring. In her case, she's an Idol Singer that also plays part in her furry fighting image, as seen in Chapter 11.
- Eyelid Pull Taunt: Muko does this gesture when quitting her job.
- Face Fault: Cookie reacts like this when Muko tells her she doesn't know how to fight.
- Friendly Enemy: Fenny and Roora are shown taking a shower naked even though they are rivals in the ring.
- Funny T Shirt: Muko meets Cookie with a shirt that says Pizza Lover.
- Furry Reminder: Muko's motivation for being a Combagal is an allusion to rabbits having high libido. Likewise, her jumping over the guards is a reference to rabbits having strong leg muscles developed for jumping.
- Get Out!: Roora growls this at Muko and the security guards for staring at her and Fenny while they are showering. She then gives a kick so powerful to Muko that also sends the security guards crashing into a wall.
- Getting the Boot: Muko's boss doesn't hesitate to literally kick her out of the building. Muko doesn't mind at all.
- The Ghost: Nyarai, one of the four protagonists, is Cookie's first client before Muko and the Combagal who will become her partner. However, since she's working as a hostess, Muko doesn't meet her in this chapter.
- The Glomp: Muko picks up Cookie and spins her around after she promises her that she'll have her debut within a week. Cookie is not amused.
- Greed: Cookie's main motivation for picking Muko as her client despite Muko not being good Combagal material is that she needs a tag team partner for Nyarai and tag team matches bring more revenue than solo matches. Also justified as Cookie needs the money because of how bad her business is going.
- Hates Being Touched: Cookie gets annoyed when Muko picks her up and hugs her.
- Hartman Hips: Cookie has wide hips to show how different her squirrel physiology is to Muko and to indicate that she's a mature woman rather than a child.
- Idol Singer: One of the Combagals, Snuggly, is an idol. She's introduced in Chapter 11.
- In a Single Bound: Muko is able to jump over a bunch of bodyguards to meet Fenny and Roora when she hears they're showering together.
- Innocent Fanservice Girl:
- Fenny doesn't mind Muko breaking into the shower rooms and seeing her naked to ask her a question on how to become a Combagal. She happily answers all of her questions. That being said, Roora is not happy about the intrusion of her privacy.
- Muko gets congratulated by Cookie for wearing a midriff-exposing style of clothing because it fits the Ms. Fanservice lifestyle of a Combagal. Muko just dressed like that for comfort.
- Loony Fan: Muko is treated as a crazy fangirl by the bodyguards when she tries to meet Fenny and Roora while they're bathing.
- Lust: Muko wants to be a Combagal for the chance of being surrounded by beautiful girls.
- Made of Iron: Despite not having physical training, Muko took a full force kick to the face from Roora that sent her crashing into a wall, and she only has a mild bump for it as damage. Cookie believes that this makes her worthy of being a Combagal after all.
- Mad Scientist: A scientist tries to sell his Robot Maid to Muko's boss while she's trying to quit. It malfunctions so he's ordered to leave.
- Megaton Punch: Muko gets a full power kick square in the face from Roora as punishment for breaking into the shower rooms and seeing her and Fenny naked. The kick left Muko with a bruise and sent the security guards crashing into a wall.
- Meido: The waitresses of Cafe Carrots dress in maid outfits when working there.
- Money Fetish: Cookie has one. She's happy to have Muko as a client and have her work with Nyarai because they can fight in tournaments and win lots of money. She also considers a coin on a street a sign of good luck, crying in joy at the sight of it.
- Ms. Exposition: Since Muko knows nothing about furry fighting, Cookie serves as this for her client for this chapter and the following ones.
- Ms. Fanservice: Cookie believes that Combagals should be this and is happy that Muko came to her in their second meeting with a shirt that revealed her midriff.
- The Napoleon: Cookie is very emotional and her Berserk Button is having her low height mentioned.
- Nice Girl: Fenny doesn't mind Muko breaking into the shower rooms to ask a question on how to become a Combagal. She answers her question patiently like she was talking to a fan, ignoring that she's still naked.
- Overly Narrow Superlative: Cookie points out that she's tall for a squirrel. However, since that means that all squirrels are midgets for being smaller than Cookie then her being taller than the rest of her species is not a major achievement since most characters are taller than her.
- The Peeping Tom: Muko's desire to meet Fenny and Roora goes up to eleven when she hears they're bathing. She manages to leap over many security guards to reach the shower rooms.
- Robot Maid: As mentioned above, the Mad Scientist created one and tried to promote her in Cafe Carrots. She malfunctioned and attacked the client, getting her and her creator kicked out.
- Tag Team: According to Cookie, Combagals fight solo or in tag teams. Those who fight in pairs are more popular and earn more money. Currently, Cookie already has Nyarai, one of the four protagonists, as her other client, and she plans on partnering her up with Muko in the future.
- Take This Job and Shove It: Muko quits her job by mocking her boss, declaring that she will become a Combagal. Her boss doesn't mind since she was a bad waitress and gladly kicks her out.
- This Is Gonna Suck: Muko's dismayed reaction upon seeing that she's going to work at Cafe Carrots again.
- Would Hit a Girl: Muko's boss literally kicks her out of his cafe when he fires her/she quits for being a bad worker with a poor work ethic. Muko doesn't care.
- Worth It: Muko considers a kick to the face from Roora the equivalent of an autograph so she's glad she got the bruise despite of the pain.
