The battle in E-Land continues as it becomes a scramble for the key to start Code: ETD, with Gray and Modeus fighting Sugarboy, and Byro attacking Fairy Tail in the process.
- Adaptational Badass: Lisanna displays more Take Overs compared to canon, such as Bull and Snake Arms.
- Adaptational Intelligence: Lucy thinking Byro is after her keys is absent, quickly realizing he's after the larger one Coco is holding.
- Alien Blood: Dante cutting off Nelo Angelo's arm results in flickers of electricity coming from the stump rather than any blood.
- All-Loving Hero: Despite having zero context, every present member of Fairy Tail steps up to protect Coco.
- Always Someone Bette: Once he enters his Devil Trigger, Dante completely outclasses Nelo Angelo.
- An Arm and a Leg: In response to Nelo Angelo threatening Coco, Dante promptly leaves him short the arm he was using to hold her off the ground.
- And This Is for...: Lisanna punctuates her attacks on Nelo Angelo with shouts of the things he did to Edolas Fairy Tail, and Edolas in general.
- Batman Gambit: Gray and Modeus trick Sugarboy into helping them destroying the Key.
- Blood Knight: Lady and Gajeel continue to enjoy fighting with Panther-Lily, so much that Happy has to remind them about their mission.
- Bully Hunter: Dante outright says he hates people picking on those smaller than him, and feels very satisfied knocking them down a few pegs.
- Children Are Innocent: Coco is quick to hand the Key to Edolas' plans (figurative and literal) to Earthland Fairy Tail once she learns that said plan involves the death of their friends.
- Choke Hold: Nelo Angelo delivers one to Coco. Thankfully, Dante frees her from it.
- Curb-Stomp Battle:
- Dante in his Devil Trigger easily overpowers Nelo Angelo, his armor crack and his composure lost.
- He also delivers one to a transformed Byro, in his normal form to boot.
- Death Glare: Nelo Angelo's chills Lucy.
- Didn't See That Coming:
- Byro is shocked at the capabilities of Earthland Magic, like Lucy summoning Celestial Spirits and Lisanna's Animal Soul Take Overs.
- No one expected Byro to turn into a giant octopus.
- Embarassing Nickname: Gray is not find of people calling him 'Ice Boy'.
- God Guise: Suggested independently by Faust and Edolas Gajeel's omments regarding the exceeds.
- Good Colors, Evil Colors: Dante's red against Nelo Angelo's dark blue.
- Good Is Not Nice: Gajeel and Lady's status as this is lampshaded by Happy, who notes he has scary friends.
- Handicapped Badass: Even down an arm and being softened up from his fight with Dante, Nelo Angelo proves capable of easily dealing with Lucy and Lisanna. It's only once Modeus arrives that he finds himself on the backfoot.
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice:
- Octopus Byro flings Dante at the sharpened roof of a castle exhibit, resulting in this. He quickly shrugs it off, to Byro and Coco's shock.
- This is how Nelo Angelo dispatches Virgo.
- I Shall Taunt You: Dante is quick to dish out insults against both Nelo Angelo and Byro.
- Know When to Fold 'Em: Down an arm, and heavily injured, Nelo Angelo wisely decides to flee when Modeus, Natsu, and Dante arrive to back up Lucy and Lisanna.
- Logical Weakness: Modeus surrounds Sugarboy's Rose Espada with his energy, preventing it from touching (and thus, softening) anything.
- Meaningful Name: Nelo Angelo is powered up and transformed by Mundus into the Onyx Reaper, named after the black gemstone and personification of death itself.
- One-Winged Angel:
- Byro turns himself into a giant octopus, giving him immense size, extra strength, and Combat Tentacles. Against Dante though, it's effectively a case of Clipped Winged Angel.
- Played straighter by Nelo Angelo when he is empowered by Mundus. His body grows larger, hair longer, gaining spikes, claws, and wings, and his weapon changes from a BFS to a double bladed scythe. Mundus promptly rechristens him "the Onyx Reaper" for good measure.
- Point of Divergence:
- Lisanna assist Lucy in protecting Coco, displaying her Cat Soul much earlier than in canon.
- Dante is the one to fight octopus Byro to rescue Coco while Lucy and Lisanna deal with Nelo Angelo.
- Modeus helps Gray take down Sugarboy and retrieve the key.
- Super Mode: Dante's Devil Trigger lets him wipe the floor with Nelo Angelo.
- Super-Toughness: Despite taking a beatdown from Devil Trigger Dante, and losing an arm, Nelo Angelo proves capable of fighting without too much trouble, and even manages to escape when outnumbered.
- Take a Third Option: Sugarboy reveals Fairy Tail needs the key to activate the only device capable of freeing their friends in time, trapping them in a Sadistic Choice of dooming them by Edolas' hands or only saving a few in the time they have. Gray and Modeus smash it anyway, and reveal the former can use his Ice-Make to make a copy.
- Underestimating Badassery: Dante goes to rescue Coco from Byro, leaving the beaten up and disarmed Nelo Angelo to Lucy and Lisanna. The servant of Mundus reminds them he was a One-Man Army during his time in Edolas, shrugging off almost everything they throw at him, and is barely stopped from killing them by the arrival of Modeus.
- Winding Eyes:
- Taurus has hearts upon seeing Lucy and Lisanna's outfits.
- Coco has stars upon seeing the Earthland wizards in action.
- Would Hurt a Child: Byro and Nelo Angelo both have no qualms harming Coco to get her to give up the key. Thankfully Fairy Tail was there to look after her.
- You Monster!: Fairy Tail's opinion of Nelo Angelo.
