"Ooh, escort?" "A police escort, creepo; stay two meters ahead of me at all times."
A trailer for this episode can be viewed here.

A Plot: It’s the Dog River Corn Festival and Hank is upset he’s been replaced by Wanda as the Chief Corn Maze Designer. Wanda’s excited, however, because she’s designed a maze so complex, she’ll definitely be able to get into Maze Masters – an exclusive club for primo puzzlers. Too bad the judge (Rick Mercer) sent to evaluate her seems difficult to impress.

B Plot: Lacey and Brent are manning a fundraising booth selling popcorn and can’t seem to agree on price or flavour choices, but a weird flavour combination Brent invents has people hungry for more.

C Plot: Oscar and Emma are paired up with Davis to help people park their cars, but Davis’s enthusiasm for the job sparks a competition.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Myron is immediately attracted to Karen, who considers him a narcissistic jerk, because Karen reminds him of a thong-wearing cop from his favorite video game.
  • Absurd Phobia: Brent turns out to be absolutely terrified of corn fields for multiple reasons (including hobgoblins and how bad candy corn tastes), but Lacey wants to check out Wanda's maze after their popcorn stock is emptied, which is why he tries to sabotage concession sales.
  • Batman Gambit: In order to trick Brent into facing his corn fears, Lacey calls him from within the maze and lies that she hurt her ankle, causing Brent to rush to help.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Multiple people end up remarking on the unusual, horrid taste of Brent's popcorn while eagerly devouring it.
  • Call-Back: While setting up refreshments, Lacey remarks on how many hootenannies the town has, including Dog River Days, Pioneer Days, and the Harvest Dance.
  • Cutting the Knot: While lost in the maze, Hank (who just accidentally sat on an anthill) scares Brent, who escapes by just running through the corn walls and leaving a hole behind.
  • Description Cut: After completing the maze, Myron remarks that you'd have to be a "pretty dull knife" to get lost in it. Cut to Hank, whose Trail of Bread Crumbs is being devoured by birds and squirrels.
  • Distinction Without a Difference: Brent takes offense at Lacey referring to the town's various celebrations as "hootenannies", as those are for hillbillies, and claims that what the town does are "hoedowns".
  • Going Commando: After learning that Myron's a sexist, Wanda gives him a wedgie. Karen threatens to do the same to Wanda for her earlier rudeness, but Wanda state she can't wedgie what isn't there (which Karen thinks is disgusting).
  • Hedge Maze: The A Plot centers on Wanda having made one out of Maize.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Before Myron arrives, Wanda tells Karen not to act like a "Puzzle Bunny" fangirl and embarrass her. When Myron actually arrives, Karen's put off by his Small Name, Big Ego and Manchild behavior, while Wanda is absolutely enamored (up until Myron's cheating and sexism is discovered).
  • Imagine Spot: Oscar and Emma briefly picture themselves starring in a schlocky used-car-style commercial in order to get people's attention away from Davis, before deciding to just steal the whistle he uses while directing cars.
  • Inadvertent Entrance Cue: Played with in The Tag; Davis walks in and asks if someone's said "dancing" during a conversation about the festival, but is told that nobody has. He's then disappointed, so Wanda just says "dancing" so he has a reason to do his traffic-directing dance again.
  • Innocent Innuendo: While other people have objections to it, Fitzy doesn't realize the implications of calling a corn-themed information booth "CornHub". Later, when Brent runs through the corn walls and makes an escape path, Davis tells all the lost people to go through Brent's "corn hole", adding that they know what he means and to get their minds out of the gutter.
  • Internal Monologue: Hank has one while lost in the Maize, starting to go crazy over how all of the corn looks the same before asking himself who he's "talking, er, thinking" to.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: Davis directing parking lot traffic gives him fond memories of his early days as a mere traffic cop, complete with a flashback of him dancing in hotpants at an intersection (and annoying a driver he'd stopped).
  • Literal Metaphor: The town's corn festival is raising money for Charity. Specifically, a woman named Charity that the town's providing a scholarship for.
  • Loophole Abuse: When Brent tries to sabotage refreshment sales by saying customers are limited to a single bag, Lacey decides to buy the remaining popcorn and put it all in one huge trash bag so they can go see the corn maze.
  • Lost in the Maize: As his own "mazes" were more artistic than puzzling, such as a single turn or a straight corridor, Hank immediately gets lost in the corn maze and spends most of the episode trying to escape. Later, Davis, Emma, Oscar, Lacey, Brent, and multiple other citizens end up lost as well.
  • Manchild: After Myron's cheating is revealed, he admits his motivation was not wanting girls in his club, and Karen threatens to call his mother to tattle.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Karen repeatedly and intentionally refers to the Maze Master by the wrong name, such as "Martin" and "Melvin". At one point he corrects her by saying his name is "Myron", and Karen replies by calling him "Marvin".
  • Not Even Bothering with an Excuse: In The Tag, Hank and Wanda learn that neither of them will be on Maize duty for the next festival, not because of their respectively uncomplicated and too-complicated designs, but (similar to the town's time capsule) because the town just uses the festival as an excuse to get drunk and they're setting up a corn hooch distillery in the designated area.
  • Pun: Hank gave the "mazes" he designed in previous years Punny Names, such as the single-turn "Corn-er", the straight "Corn-idor", and one that looped around so the entrance was also the exit "Corn-de-sac".
  • "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: Karen's able to get out of parking duty and just hang out with Wanda because citizens have been reporting strange lights overhead. Later, after Myron's able to clear Wanda's maze in four minutes without making a single wrong turn, Karen takes his phone and reveals the lights were a drone Myron had used to cheat.
  • Serious Business: Davis takes directing traffic in the parking area very seriously, and is dismayed when Fitzy initially refers to it as superfluous.
  • Shout-Out: While going mad inside the Maize, Hank starts to think an ear of corn is talking to him, and asks it "Build WHAT, and WHO will come?"
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Maze Master Myron believes he's a huge deal, trying to get special parking and announcing his entrance with trumpets (from a phone app). Wanda's into the hype, while Karen is completely disinterested.
  • Special Guest: Rick Mercer voices "Maze Master Myron", who makes appearances throughout the A Plot.
  • Trail of Bread Crumbs: Hank tries to use the popcorn he bought from Brent to avoid retracing his steps in the maze, only for some wild animals to eat it all.
  • Verbal Backspace: When Davis' whistle gets stolen and he starts arguing with the Leroys, Fitzy steps in to break them up, and says they shouldn't get so worked up about a superfluous job (given how nobody there actually needs help parking). When Davis asks if the position he's been enjoying has just been menial busywork, Fitzy states he meant to say that Davis has done a great job and all of them can take the rest of the Festival off.
