"Silence! Mills does not have time for these silly details, Mills has a meeting at DreamWorks!"

The eighth episode of the second season of Celebrity Deathmatch, also known as Deathmatch: The Motion Picture.

This episode consists of one pre-determined fight, one pre-recorded fight from the Deathmatch archives, and one scripted fight to the death as part of a film production. The first undercard features a showdown between directors Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone, to determine who will be directing the Deathmatch movie. The ensuing interval features an archived fight featuring Groucho Marx and John Wayne. The "main event" is the premise of the Deathmatch movie, featuring rising icon Cameron Diaz and veteran actress Meryl Streep.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Oliver has a flashback to his childhood, where his father breaks his camera for daring to want to make movies.
  • Added Alliterative Appeal: After broadcasting the archived footage of Groucho vs. John, Nick describes it as "Vintage violent from the vault."
  • Ass Shove: Mills threatens to put his foot up Nick's backside if he keeps forgetting his scripted lines.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": At the beginning of the shoot, Meryl has a hard time trying to deliver a convincing punch to Cameron's face, much to Mills' frustration.
  • Batter Up!: Groucho hits John over the head with a baseball bat during the fight.
  • The Cameo: This episode features appearances from Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and two of the other Marx brothers, Chico and Harpo.
  • The Casanova: Groucho, while on his way to the ring, stops to sweet-talk a female audience member. Conveniently, it's also the reason why he and John are fighting - Groucho started flirting with John's wife while at a bar.
  • Casting Couch: Meryl accuses Cameron of this while whaling on her with various props.
  • Eye-Obscuring Hat: Harpo Marx pulls John's cowboy hat down over his eyes as a distraction.
  • Eye Pop: Groucho stomps on John after tripping him over, causing his eyes to bulge out of their sockets.
  • Eye Scream: After Oliver demands explosions to emphasise his win, a crew member accidentally drops their camera into the ring, which lands directly in Oliver's eye.
  • Flashback: Oliver has one while he's punching Martin. Martin criticizes him for choosing to insert a flashback scene during their fight.
  • Hollywood Old: The in-universe film being produced is meant to have Cameron Diaz kill Meryl Streep. When this backfires and Meryl ends up killing Cameron, the movie producers end up replacing Johnny and Nick in the film with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon respectively, in order to still be able to appeal to a teenage audience.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Meryl snatches a boom pole from the sound engineer and plants it firmly in Cameron's chest, killing her.
  • Impressive Pyrotechnics: Oliver calls for explosions to surrounding him following his victory over Martin. This ultimately causes his own death.
  • In-Character Commentaries: While hitting him with a camera, the action freezes as Martin offers audio commentary on his thought process in the moment.
  • Instrument of Murder: John's head is sliced up when he is thrown into a harp.
  • Knee-capping: Groucho crushes John's knee with an oversized hammer.
  • Kneel, Push, Trip: Harpo kneels down behind John while Groucho pushes him.
  • Misplaced Accent: During early takes of their fight, Meryl slips into an Irish accent, followed by a Bulgarian accent. Mills just tells her to speak normally.
  • The Movie: In-universe, as the main event has been scripted as part of a film production that's set for theatrical release.
  • Movie-Making Mess: What ultimately becomes of the scripted fight between Cameron and Meryl. Meryl ends up going completely off-script and ends up killing Cameron, when it's scripted for Cameron to be the winner.
  • Off with His Head!: Martin is decapitated with a clapperboard.
  • Orbital Shot: The camera does a 360-degree rotation around the ring while Martin is strangling Oliver.
  • Overly Long Fighting Animation: Oliver opens the fight off by kicking Martin. However, he does this in a way in which the attack is interlaced with various cutaways and explosions to add more of a dramatic impact. However, Martin is unimpressed.
  • Pants-Pulling Prank: Harpo steals John's belt, causing his pants to fall down.
  • Pick a Card: Groucho interrupts John by asking him to pick from a deck of card. Averted, in that instead of performing a magic trick, Groucho tells John to keep the card as he has 51 more.
  • Rearing Horse: John's horse is startled by a rubber duck, causing it to rear and knock John off its back.
  • Secret Word: Groucho commends John for saying the word "Whoop-ass".
  • The Show Goes Hollywood: The plot of this episode is that Celebrity Deathmatch is shooting its first motion picture.
  • Sibling Team: Groucho calls for help from his brother, Harpo, midway during the fight.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: The gasoline bombs that Oliver asks for.
  • Take That!: When calling the first fight, Mills tells Martin and Oliver to "keep it under three hours".
  • Third-Person Person: In a bizarre out-of-character moment, Mills refers to himself in the third person after walking off set.
  • Vertigo Effect: Occurs seconds before Oliver decapitates Martin.
  • The Voiceless: Harpo Marx, as per his character, doesn't utter a single sound whenever he is on screen.
  • Water Wake Up: John punches Groucho unconscious, and then wakes him up by throwing a bucket of water over him.
  • Weaponized Camera: Martin strikes Oliver over the head with one during their fight.
  • What a Drag: After being thrown out of the ring, John re-enters on horseback, and uses his lasso to catch Harpo by the feet and trip him over.
  • Wipe the Floor with You: After knocking Oliver to the mat, Martin proceeds to wipe the floor with his face.
  • You Just Ruined the Shot: Meryl has a hard time finding her character and thus repeatedly gives sub-par performances, until she finally discovers herself and starts going off-script, much to the dismay of the film crew.
