Parting is such sweet sorrow.
Anne and the Plantars look to spend what could be their last day together at the Newtopia Aquarium.

    Full Recap
TBA...

Tropes:

  • Badass Family: The Plantars showcase their fighting skills when saving Sprig from the deadly stingrays.
  • Call-Back: One of the guards gives Lady Olivia a rag to clean her doodled mustache from the last episode.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: The Plantars' trip to the aquarium features multiple references to past adventures from Book 1.
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: The Plantars hope to use the aquarium visit to distract themselves from reminiscing about their past adventures, but everything they see there reminds them of a previous adventure and ends up making them depressed.
  • Cryptic Conversation: At the end of the episode, Marcy watches Anne and the Plantars saying their goodbyes and looks obviously troubled all the while. Ultimately, she allows Anne to go back to Wartwood to get the music box and watches the sunset just as King Andrias approaches.
King Andrias: Always sad to see someone go, isn't it? I have a proposition for you, Marcy, and I think you'll find it very interesting.
  • Everybody Cries: Anne and the Plantars cry every time they see they see anything as a reminder of a past adventure, with Inelegant Blubbering and Ocular Gushers to go with it.
  • Fastball Special: Anne launches Hop Pop to save Sprig from being attacked by rogue stingrays.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • While King Andrias is explaining how his ancestors were "peaceful explorers and scientists", he looks away for a brief moment while speaking in a suspicious tone.
    • In the book that explains how to recharge the Calamity Box's gems by taking them to specific temples, there is a secret message that turns out to be The Prophecy that, once translated, says:
The Prophecy: Three stars burning bright, come from beyond to expel The Night. Should they fight or embrace the fall, their choice will determine all.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • In the book, the text under the gems translates to "Wit" (green), "Heart" (blue), and "Strength" (purple).
    • The page that briefly appears when Andrias visually indicates the charged gems' state is titled "Stars", and the text on the banner reads: "Three stars burning bright / Come from beyond to expel the night / Should they fight or embrace the fall / Their choice will determine all".
    • Said page also has what appears to be a diagram of Amphibia with lines connected to 4 other worlds surrounding it, a visualisation of the Calamity Box's dimensional traveling capabilities. Notably, there is a fifth planet off the the right with the line between it and Amphibia broken that visually resembles Earth, indicating that Andrias' ancestors did attempt to explore the world before, but were unsuccessful in the endeavor. This could explain how the box ended up on Earth in the first place.
  • Immediate Sequel: This episode instantly picks up right where "The Sleepover to End All Sleepovers" left off.
  • Interdimensional Travel Device: The Calamity Box is confirmed to be intended as this, with Andrias's ancestors using it to explore other worlds. The three gems on it need to be recharged in special temples spread across Amphibia.
  • Internal Reveal: Hop Pop finds out about Anne and Sprig sneaking out of the house to swim in the lake in "Best Fronds", though it's less finding out and more confirming what he already suspected, and it's no time for him to be mad.
  • I Will Find You: Marcy decides Anne should go back to Wartwood with the Plantars to retrieve the music box, and promises she will come for Anne once her own preparations are complete.
  • Made Myself Sad: Essentially the gist of the episode. The Plantars try to have a sad-free day at the aquarium, only to reminisce of past adventures and get sad again.
  • The Reveal: Anne and the Plantars learn that the Calamity Box can teleport to other worlds besides Amphibia.
  • Sequel Hook: At the end of the episode, King Andrias approaches Marcy with a proposition for her while ominous music plays.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Each time Anne tries to find a justifiable reason to return to Wartwood, Marcy counters with this.
  • Wham Line:
King Andrias: Always sad to see someone go, isn't it? I have a proposition for you, Marcy, and I think you'll find it very interesting...
