X-TREME KAMPING!!! Just the way Anne likes it!

Anne pretends to like camping, which is fine until she goes dangerously overboard.

    Full Recap
TBA...

This episode has examples of:

  • Blatant Lies: When Anne shows the Plantars her music box at the end, Hop Pop says he's never seen anything like it. However, once Anne and the kids are out of sight, turns out he knows what it is.
  • Camping Episode: Anne goes camping with the Plantars, and fakes liking it. Then the Mudmen show up...
  • Cannibal Clan: Mudmen aren't actual Muck Monsters. They're really a bunch of frogs who disguise themselves by slathering thick coats of mud over their bodies... in order to slaughter other frogs to eat.
Cannibal Frog: Man, all I wanted to do was get muddy and eat people!
  • Chekhov's Gun: The bath bomb Anne found in her backpack is used in the climax to deal with the Mudmen.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Anne admits she shouldn't have lied about liking camping and says she wanted to be included in the Plantar activities. Hop Pop promises to invite her along next time since she's willing to do something she hates to spend time with the Plantars.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Soggy Joe wore axe-proof armor for camping, which is why he doesn't get killed.
  • Disney Death: Soggy Joe appears to be killed by an axe to the back, but after the fight with the Mudmen, he gets up as if nothing had happened; the axe doesn't even leave a mark! He attributes his survival to his "ax-proof vest".
  • Eats Babies: Notice the leery look Polly gives all the empty "tadpole buckets" just like hers, floating in the water off to the side of Soggy Joe's campsite. It could be the wildlife, or the Cannibal Clan or both.
  • Epic Fail: Anne's attempt to pitch a tent results in one barely a foot high. Then it collapses. And catches fire.
  • Evil Laugh: Soggy Joe isn't actually evil, but he still manages to belt out several good ones throughout this episode.
  • "Fawlty Towers" Plot: The plot involves Anne lying to the Plantars and trying to enjoy extreme camping.
  • Hope Spot: Anne shows the box to the Plantars, hoping that they would know a way of getting her home. No one has an answer, though Hop Pop investigates in secret. Sprig promises they'll find a way to get Anne home, even if it means she'll have to leave the Plantars forever.
  • Internal Reveal: Anne reveals to the Plantars how she wound up in Amphibia by showing them the mysterious music box.
  • I've Never Seen Anything Like This Before: Hop Pop's reaction when Anne presents the music box. Once Anne is gone, he proves the opposite.
  • Muck Monster: The Mudmen; frog-eating monsters made of mud.
  • Negative Continuity: Weirdly, Anne actually has a pretty good canon reason to not like "camping" and/or be good at "extreme camping" - she survived on her own for a while before she met the Plantars and didn't enjoy it - but neither is brought up here.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Soggy Joe is a parody of Bear Grylls.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Hop Pop pretends not to know what the music box is, but it's revealed he has a book containing it. It's unclear if he kept his knowledge a secret because he wasn't sure what it was, or for another unknown reason.
  • Oh, Crap!: Hop Pop gasps when he confirms that the box that brought Anne to Amphibia is a Calamity Box, with the page describing it saying, "DANGER!" and "BEWARE!"
  • Pin-Pulling Teeth: Parodied. Before Anne throws the bath bomb at the Mudmen, she pulls the tag off with her teeth.
  • Popculture Pun Episode Title: Of Man vs. Wild.
  • The Reveal: While Hop Pop insists that he has never seen the box that Anne shows him, it is also revealed that he knows plenty about the device, which is revealed to be something called the Calamity Box, an extremely dangerous object thought to be destroyed, according to the book Hop Pop is reading.
  • Shout-Out: To Slasher Movies that take place at summer camps.
Sprig: I can't wait to tell scary stories! The more teen frogs running from deranged psychopaths, the better!
  • Throw Down the Bomblet: Anne uses her soap as a grenade, tossing it at the Mudmen. It reacts with the mud and "explodes", leaving the Mudmen clean, which they hate.
  • Versus Title: This time, the versus refers to Anne trying to survive in the wild once again.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: The Mudmen's weakness is any sort of cleaning product.
  • Wham Episode: Anne confesses to the Plantars about the box that transported her to Amphibia, albeit without mentioning that she stole it. Hop Pop lies that he doesn't know anything about it, but is revealed to have a book that calls it a Calamity Box.
  • Wham Shot: The page in Hop Pop's book describing Anne's stolen box calls it a Calamity Box.
