WARNING: Per wiki policy, Spoilers Off applies to Nightmare Fuel pages. All spoilers will be unmarked.

  • The first fic's Pleasure Island arc is disturbingly faithful to the source material.
    • As the heroes approached the darkness-shrouded world of Pleasure Island, the Highwind's warning radar began to beep more and more rapidly, contrasting the bright and colourful atmosphere of the carnival within the world. Riku's excitement soon turned to horror when he saw young boys being provided with liquor and tobacco and beating each other senseless. Goofy was noticeably unsettled.
    • When night fell, the island took on a more eerie appearance, the carnival reassembling a ghost town. Hordes of Neoshadows swarm the premises, prompting the heroes to take refuge in the snooker building.
    • In truth, Pleasure Island is but a front for a child trafficking ring spanning multiple worlds. The Coachman lures away young boys from lost worlds with the intent of turning them into donkeys to be sold into slavery. Even worse, it's all but said that the donkeys that can still talk are fed to the Heartless. How many children have suffered this fate?
"The Heartless are on the move, sir."
"Oh, are they, now?" Rubbing his hands together, the man gave the assistant a terrifying grin. "Good, very good. As long as they're well-fed, my operation won't fall to the likes of the Keybearer."
The man stepped out of view, but the sound of a whip cracking and children screaming made Riku wince.
"We'll make plenty of munny with this lot. And as for you..."
A high-pitched creak from a rusty gate echoed outside.
"Some time with the Heartless ought to fix you up..."
    • Upon realizing that Pinocchio is in danger of turning into a donkey, the heroes return for him only to find that he and Lampwick are already in the process of transforming into donkeys. Notably, Pinocchio spouts a pair of donkey ears which he keeps for the rest of the story.
  • The Organization's manipulation of the Mirror Trio, whom they treat as little more than tools. They force Naminé to rewrite the memories of Riku Replica and XIII and she complies out of fear for what they may do to her friends should she refuse. At one point, Xemnas orders her to force the Replica into reliving his most traumatic Fake Memories, leaving Naminé a sobbing, guilt-ridden wreck. When the Replica rebels and refuses to kill the real Riku, Xemnas and Vexen manipulate him with the threat of detonating nonexistent bombs on his friends. The story makes it clear just how much the Organization's abuse has affected the trio.
  • Shere Khan is notably the first villain to lose himself to the darkness. As his pride and rage consumes him, his body is enveloped in a solid black mist. He began to laugh, slowly and quietly at first, then manic and wild. Once his entire body was submerged in smog, the laughter ceased and Shere Khan collapsed. Riku was unsettled at the sight, knowing full well that if he wasn't careful, the same could happen to him.
    • Shere Khan's Heartless; A gargantuan tiger-like monstrosity with orange claws, sword-like fangs and blue flames running down its spine. Its fur was as dark as ash and its stripes blue like the flames on its back.
  • Much like Scar in Kingdom Hearts II, Ratigan has so much darkness in his heart that he retains his identity and sentience upon turning into a Heartless. His physical appearance was unchanged save for glowing yellow eyes and his gentlemanly facade began to evaporate completely, replaced with sheer animistic fury.
  • Hans/Nahxs. A man so depraved that he willingly cast away his own heart and became a Nobody, Hans's charisma is matched only by his complete disregard for life. He blends in so well with the world of Arendelle that nobody even suspects he's an outsider. His charisma is such that he can more-or-less control the tone of a conversation. Even when the heroes discover his true identity, Hans manipulates Anna into believing his side of the story, with the narration emphasizing the latter's vulnerability.
  • Elsa being corrupted with a shard of enchanted glass, amplifying her darkest thoughts (in a chilling callback to the original fairy tail). Keep in mind that Elsa is powerful enough to bring forth an eternal winter, so a Brainwashed and Crazy Elsa on a darkness-induced rampage makes for a terrifying opponent.
    • The sheer amount of venom Elsa exhibits as she verbally tears into her beloved sister is nothing short of horrifying.
You never let me go. Always clawing at my door, driving me insane. You didn't want a sister; you wanted a toy. You'd wake me in the middle of the night, demanding we'd build a snowman. You'd push me harder and harder... Until I finally pushed back.
Don't you see, Anna? All this darkness… All this rage that I've hidden for so long; it's all because of you.
      Why couldn't you stay dead?
    • During this sequence, Elsa is seen on her Station of Awakening being restrained by pillars of glass that warp around her like a cage, constricting her. Reflected on the glass were visions showing her past memories; herself crying in her room as Anna knocked on the door, culminating in her accidental freezing of her sister's heart.
    • The worst part is: Elsa has no control over her actions and is Forced to Watch as she verbally abuses and tries to kill her own sister, only for her new friend to take the blow.
    • Her appearance in this corrupted state is nothing to sneeze at. Dark veins begin to creep from under her eyes and down her face and her pupils turn a deep scarlet. As her condition worsens, the veins reach her neck and her dress turns to shades of purple and black, her tattered cape flapping in the wind. By the end of her battle, her skin and hair are completely pale and the golden outline of the Heartless emblem appears on her chest.
  • At one point, Nahxs gives Dark Elsa a Breaking Speech in hopes of pushing her to succumb to darkness.
If King Agnarr could see you now, his poor heart would be eviscerated from fear, no stray icicle necessary. But Agnarr was no great king. He took one look at his miraculous daughter and saw only a witch to imprison. But I see so much more than that. I see a goddess of a Nobody clawing to be set free. And you will be. Once that heart succumbs completely to darkness…and your corpse awakens as our Number XV.
But something’s holding you back. Perhaps the glass wasn’t enough to break your heart. If not, I know what’ll do the trick. Keep beating your head against these bars, and maybe you’ll break free in time to see Anna drop dead at the altar.
    • The narration from Elsa's perspective is nothing short of disturbing.
Kill Him Kill Him Kill Him Kill Him Kill Him Kill—
KILL HIM! KILL HIM! KILL HIM! KILL HIM! KILL KILL KILL KILL Ķ̴̨̟͎̼̫̟͍̤̞̟̞͚̙͖̊̅̄̆I̷̡̡̛̛̼̪̩̜͎͍̥͒̍̓̉́́̕Ḷ̴̢̢͉̤̹̯̭̤̮̙̺̠͉̉ͅĽ̷̡̦̣̖̙͊̀̿̋͋͝
    • This part deserves special mention:
Elsa SLAMMED her head against the bars. SCREAMED like nothing from the natural world. Kill him H̸̖̣̹͔̰̩͕̹̥͓̦̳́̇̌͜͜ͅÃ̴̧͎̬̙̼̰͔͍̘̭̯͖͐̇̓̆̃̎̈́̈́D̴̟̓̅̓͛͐ ̷̰̜̅͝Ṱ̶̡̛̘̝̹̺͌̄́͐̃̃̆̐̀̉̈̄̿̆͜Ǫ̸̨͓͇͖͚̟̺̪͓̘̂̔̉͗̽̀̉̈́͑͊̉ͅ ̸̱͉͈̩̱̲̥̳̠̥̪͇̹͓̄̊͂͗́̔͘K̷̢̢͚͕̦̣͖̪̾̂̓̐͋͐̐̚I̵̜̠̫̥͋̅́͠L̸̢̧̢̛͇͈͓̠̹̤͗͋̈́͆͋̓̐̐̽́̎̆͜͠ͅL̶͚͔̜̳̎ ̴̧̡̙̘͕̔H̷̡̩͑̈̃I̵̛̦͍͍̝̻̋́̽̅̈́͐͒̉̈́͝͝͝M̷̦̮̯̰͕̲͂͋͛̔̊͜͠
  • The scene where Goofy tries to reason with Dark Elsa is wrought with tension. At this point, Elsa herself is squirming and writhing within the darkness infecting her heart. It culminates in Dark Elsa quietly pleading for help before letting out a demonic howl and attacking Goofy, though due to Elsa Fighting from the Inside, the attack isn't fatal. The scene ends with Goofy backed against a door as red ice closes in around him.
