Kiriko Takemura, born January 29, 1993 and much better known under her stage name Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, is a relatively new face in the J Pop business, currently signed to Warner Music Japan. Before hitting it big with her debut single, PONPONPON, she was a Harajuku-based fashion blogger and model, as well as a designer of fake eyelashes.The aforementioned single's music video went viral within seconds, due to its psychedelic and flat-out trippy nature. Her other videos followed suit.She embarked on a Japan-wide tour in June 2012, coinciding with her first full-length album's release, Pamyu Pamyu Revolution. It, along with her previous singles, were entirely produced by Yasutaka Nakata, the brain behind girl group Perfume and his own techno project, capsule.

Coming-of-Age Song: "Furisodeshon", which was written to commemorate her 20th birthday (20 being the age of adulthood in Japan.) The video for said song shows her drinking like crazy.
The music video for "Yume no Hajima-Ring Ring" sums up her entire life/career up to that point. There's her blogger/model past, she revisits her outfits from "PONPONPON" and "Fashion Monster" (the initial singles found on her first 2 LPs) and figures representing her other videos flash by on a card held by backup dancernote In order: an eye from "Tsukema Tsukeru," the onion from "Candy Candy," A "20" representing "Furisodeshon," a dancing robot from "Ninjya Re Bang Bang," a "Da" kanji from "Invader Invader" and a ghost head from "Mottai Night Land".

Do Not Do This Cool Thing: Apparently, some Moral Guardians took umbrage to Kyary getting progressively drunker during the "Furisodeshon" video (as they felt it promoted underage drinking), so Warner Music Japan slapped a pithy disclaimer on the description to appease them. The Stinger of the video also shows her cover her mouth in distress, two seconds of blank screen, then Kyary being consoled by her monster friend after having thrown up.
Looped Lyrics: The lyrics in "Mi" (4 minutes of Mi all over again) and "Into Darkness" (she only says "Watashi wo mite, koko ni iru kara"note Look at me, I'm right here a few times)
Merchandise-Driven: Like many Japanese artists, Kyary's music is used in, and commissioned for, film and television. At least seven songs from each album are used in various promotional campaigns, several of which feature Kyary in their commercials.
Song Association: PONPONPON itself has appeared in two games: Konami's DanceEvolution Arcade, and Sega's MaiMai+. However it's almost always associated with the former instead, at least in Asia (since the former also comes with a novel way of playing by means of a Kinect sensor).
Mind Screw: The first half a minute of the "PONPONPON" video involves a brain, a microphone/croquet mallet coming out of a giant ear, at least three different candy ladies, and countless other nonsensical things. Then comes the CGI eyeballs and skulls. American viewers thought the box of Kraft macaroni and cheese was cool until it offered even more mind screw to deal with.
Kyary managed to make a woman in a bikini the most frightening and surreal thing in the video for "Mottai Night Land".
Once an Episode: Apart from her debut album, each release features a cover of a song by capsule, her producer Yasutaka Nakata's techno-pop band.
Painting the Medium: During the "Furisodeshon" video, the visuals get more and more wobbly as Kyary gets drunker and drunker.
Picky Eater / Stock Yuck: Kyary is known for her dislike of vegetables. The old guy/bodhisattva in her music video for "Fashion Monster" slices a stalk printed with the Japanese word for them on it.
Promoted Fangirl: She had every volume of Crayon Shin Chan growing up, and has now recorded several themesongs for it, including "Family Party" and "Kimi Ni 100%". She has also voiced herself in an episode of the anime.
Take That: The old guy/bodhisattva in her music video for Fashion Monster slices stalks, captioned with the following Acceptable Targets: コンサバ/conservatives, チャラ男/douchebags (specifically, the "guy with a fake tan picking up girls" kind), 野菜/vegetables, 徹夜/[studious] all-nighters and something that's censored (possibly beer.)
Also the clumsy dancing anime-gao in "CANDY CANDY."
