Anesthesia provides examples of
- Abnormal Limb Rotation Range: Anastasia doing a spine surgery in Chapter 2.5. Guess on who?
- Action Girl: Dianne Utsunomiya and Jenny Futakawa.
- Applied Phlebotinum: Case #2 introduces a biological version of this trope.
- Asshole Victim: The twenty surviving yakuza meets a LOVELY plier-like device.
- Awesomenessby Analysis / Sherlock Scan: Damien's forte. Still, when Anastasia compared him to Sherlock Holmes, he said her compliment is an insult to Sherlock Holmes.
- Badass Bookworm: Dianne. Well, if you consider someone devouring romance novels a bookworm...
- Badass in a Nice Suit: Shoji. Not surprising given what he used to be.
- Batman Gambit: Dianne tries a really, really over the top version of this to resolve Case #2.
- Battle Butler / Ninja Maid: Shoji and Futakawa. Quite some background they have.
- Blue-and-Orange Morality / Morally Ambiguous Doctorate / Obliviously Evil: Anastasia. This whole series revolves around it. Perhaps also Ambiguous Innocence.
- Brains and Brawn: Damien and Dianne. Kinda.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Anastasia. Just listen to her in Case #2.
- Consummate Liar: Damien, whenever it's necessary.
- Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Among Damien's intentions for striking a deal with Anastasia.
- Deadpan Snarker: Usually Damien. His sister has that talent too, though.
- Death from Above: The anesthesia bombs in Case #1. Although, Fate Worse than Death is closer to the truth.
- Didn't Think This Through: Anastasia again. What she did at the end of Case #1 brings up some problems at the start of Case #2.
- Expendable Clone: End of Case #2. The twenty clones are born to die.
- Fate Worse than Death: If you're among the forty yakuza, would you prefer to be among those who died, or those who survived? Perhaps both are worse than death in their own ways.
- Fiction 500: The twins, being heirs of a multibillion yen family corporation.
- Flesh Golem: Case #2. It weighs 1400 kilos, but wants even more flesh.
- For Science! / Mad Scientist: Anastasia, obviously.
- Frankenstein's Monster: Case #2. Well, Frankenfield's.
- Girlish Pigtails: Miyazaki the police officer. Lampshaded by Damien.
- Groin Attack: Dianne wouldn't hesitate for a low blow when she's serious.
- The Greys: Mentioned, but not shown in the last chapter of Case #1.
- Hijacked by Ganon: (perhaps also Ascended Extra?): Case #1 and #2. Kinda. Does the dog count?
- How Many Fingers?: Six fingers. Chapter 1.5.
- I Just Want to Have Friends: One of Anastasia's reasons for creating the flesh golem.
- Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: Futakawa. Now, imagine this: perched on the windowsill of a speeding four-wheel-drive driven by an elegant veteran battle butler, in full french maid uniform while firing her automatic machine gun, and a rocket launcher. But in this scene on chapter 2.8, subverted at the 'kicking ass' part.
- Lethal Klutz : Anastasia. In Case #2, played for laughs with a scalpel, and again with a gun. Then it turns out that the entire Case is caused by this characteristic. Wait till you know the reason behind her ship crashing on the twin's home.
- Losing Your Head: Anastasia. Don't worry, she has many.
- Love Freak: Dianne. She probably reads Twilight.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Futakawa's first impression of Anastasia.
- Non-Action Guy: Damien. He can run a bit, or handle a gun, but looks relatively 'non-action' amidst those people that surround him.
- Obi-Wan Moment: Anastasia in Case #1. Well, almost.
- Our Hero Is Dead: Twice in the first two Cases.
- Parental Abandonment: The twins.
- Pink Means Feminine: Dianne's room.
- Psychic Powers: Common in the future.
- Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: Damien's plans of getting the protection of the biggest yakuza organization in Japan. And some unmentioned future plans.
- Shout-Out: Machiavelli's The Prince is mentioned. Case #2 is a shout-out to Mary Shelly's magnum opus. And then there's mention of said novel too, and Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: Damien and Dianne.
- Spit Take: Dianne upon realizing they were up against a yakuza organization with 25,000 members.
- Sympathy for the Devil: Anastasia and the antagonist of Case #2. But then, she is Anastasia after all. And then they fought a deadly battle.
- Tareme Eyes: Anastasia.
- Tranquil Fury: Anastasia. Wait. Is she actually angry?
- Translation Convention: They're Japanese, and they're supposed to speak Japanese.
- Ultimate Job Security: Anastasia striking the deal with Damien. She can mess up, but no way would he fire her.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Despite their contrasting personalities, Damien and Anastasia share this trait.
