Times where someone Kicks the Morality Pet in Western Animation.

  • In the final season of Airbender's Sequel Series,The Legend of Korra, Kuvira's fiance Baatar Jr. is kidnapped by the heroes, who use him to try and convince her to leave Republic City. Kuvira decides the city is more important than him and nukes the site with her spirit cannon instead.
  • Kevin from Ben 10 tends to do this whenever he goes insane due to absorbing alien energy. In the original series, Ben showed him kindness twice, and both times his reaction was to attempt to backstab him. Later, after reforming over the course of Alien Force, he gradually turns insane again, resulting in him hurting both Ben and Gwen, who have become his friends (and in Gwen's case, his Love Interest) at this point. 10-year-old Ben calls him out for it:
  • A few episodes of Jimmy Two-Shoes has Heloise backing out of whatever evil she was doing because it was hurting Jimmy.
  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: Discord has always had an utter disregard for the feelings of anyone else, and doesn't get snapped out of it until Fluttershy basically makes herself his Morality Pet by actually treating him as a friend. It's not until he realizes that his antics are driving her away that he finally grows some empathy.
    • He did it again in the Season 4 finale, when he betrays Fluttershy to join Lord Tirek. Then he realizes how betrayed Fluttershy feels. This one has lasting ramifications, as Discord feels so guilty about it that the prospect of making Fluttershy cry again is enough to plunge him into a Heroic BSoD.
  • Subverted in The Owl House episode "Thanks to Them", where Hunter mistreating Flapjack is a warning sign of him being a victim of Demonic Possession, as he'd otherwise never so much as think about hurting Flapjack even at his absolute lowest.
  • She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: When Catra reaches one of the lowest points in her Villainous Breakdown, she begins abusing and mistreating Scorpia (her best and only friend), culminating in threatening her with death for objecting to a Frame-Up scheme against Entrapta.
  • Happened in The Spectacular Spider-Man and Spider-Man: The Animated Series while he wore the black suit.
  • Happened on an episode of Static Shock where a kid being remorselessly tormented by bullies brings a gun to school. Just as the kid was about to give up the gun the bully's idiot friends tackled him which made him accidentally squeeze the trigger and he winds up shooting Richie, one of the few people who had tried to be nice to him. The kid suffers a massive My God, What Have I Done?.
  • Deconstructed in Steven Universe. Despite their familial love is genuine, the Great Diamond Authority had regularly done this to each other for millennia, with Pink Diamond having suffered the worst from this. This led to her believing their love was false, especially in spite of everything she's done for them, and also led to her hurting Pink Pearl and abandoning Spinel, which she heavily regretted and vowed to change into an All-Loving Heroine and treat others better as Rose Quartz. However, despite mourning her eventual death, the Diamonds did not learn from their mistakes and began mistreating her son, Steven, the same way in the final season. Steven confronting them on this longtime cycle of abuse is what finally gets them to realize the truth about everything they've done and atone for their crimes of universal genocide.
  • In an episode of Transformers: Animated, an upgraded Prowl beats (clone) Starscream. Unfortunately, there's a lot of collateral damage - including a torn down tree and broken bird eggs that he earlier made an effort to protect. Seeing these, Prowl realizes what a total asshole he's being.
