Fridge Brilliance

  • Plankton's Enlargatron Ray is stated to have been scrapped. Why? Never Recycle Your Schemes.
  • Why does touching people make your suspicion go up in Barg'N-Mart? Because when you bump into them and your screen shakes, the disguise glasses likely slide around a little, momentarily revealing you're an imposter.
    • Alternatively, bumping into someone will make them most likely look at you. Someone staring at you from that close can tell much more easily that you're wearing glasses.
    • To add on to this, it's implied by Plankton that typical Jellien clones are dumb and absent-minded like actual zombies. So they wouldn't even be interested in looking at Krabs unless he actively bumps into them and disturbs them.
  • It might seem dumb that Mr. Krabs in the Barg N'Mart is able to fool the clones with the glasses, considering they're the wrong size and don't even cover up his eyes. But hey, the Jellien clones are said to essentially be dumb zombies (most of the time). Perhaps this wouldn't have worked against the smarter Jelliens. The fact that it also works on Chef Prowler is either Fridge Logic or proof that he isn't very smart either.
  • In the original show, the Jelliens were unable to sting anyone, yet in the game, the Pinkies are capable of stinging and a group of them as shown in Puff's level can kill the player. Why you may ask? Because after failing the first time he invaded Bikini Bottom, the Overlord here decided to make his Jellien army much more aggressive and hostile instead of having them clone people from simply deceiving and tricking them. This also explains why the Overlord has so many different types of Jelliens and why they're extremely vicious and murderous.
  • Crossing a bit into Fridge Horror territory, it's possible that Pearl may not have been cloned yet when Krabs first saw her asleep in her bed and that as he collected his money, the Pinkie from earlier snuck into her room and cloned her. If this is true, it would make more sense why he seems to just leave the money behind in complete guilt; you absolutely cannot avoid running into that Pinkie, so Mr. Krabs can see that Jelliens have made it into their home and yet he still goes to get his money from around the house. Had he just woke Pearl up and left with her immediately, she wouldn't have been captured in the first place. And knowing what ends up happening to Pearl makes this even more heartbreaking.
  • Why are Jellien Plankton and Dennis able to think and act for themselves despite the cloning process turning everyone else into mindless zombies? It's because Jellien clones are meant to be evil versions of the victim they're cloned from. Why alter something that's already pure evil?
    • This would explain why Mrs. Puff is also different than the other clones to a certain degree. She's not as evil as Plankton or Dennis, but she has a criminal history and a lot of bitterness at Spongebob making her life hell.
    • This also might explain why none of the clones in the Salty Spitoon pay any mind to Squidward, despite the automatic response of normal clones seeing a regular person is to attack them. A place like that would likely be full of bad people, and they probably just don't see Squidward as worth the trouble.
  • Why is Sandy seemingly ready to kill SpongeBob and Patrick in a blind rage if she's woken up? What if they weren't the first people to enter her Treedome that night? She was the other person besides SpongeBob who stopped the Jelliens' first invasion. What if some Jelliens and/or clones tracked her down in hopes of revenge on her as well or as a pre-emptive strike, only to be met with a big, hairy, walking death machine? If something like that happened, it's possible if Sandy is woken up suddenly during the same night, she thinks SpongeBob and Patrick are clones or the like. Come to think of it, one of Sandy's voicelines upon being woken up is "Ok Pinhead Larry, now you get yours". This does imply that someone, who Sandy mistook for Dirty Dan, did enter the treedome before Spongebob and Patrick. And it also has dark implications that whoever did so is likely very much dead now.
    • An Easter Egg in the level shows the snow-tombstones of Dirty Dan and Pinhead Larry from the episode, but those should've melted back when that hibernation ended, meaning she made these new ones, likely when someone came knocking on her door.
  • Why was Larry Clone just hobbling through Goo Lagoon after getting partially melted? He was going to the Salty Spitoon to get back-up. Also, why is Larry Clone able to mostly survive getting attacked with mayo when every other clone dies instantly? He's far bigger than the other clones, and likely takes more mayo to fully dissolve.
  • The Jellien guards and store workers in the Barg N'Mart constantly being suspicious of you while everyone else isn't is not random, it makes a lot of sense. Excluding that most Jelliens are dumb as zombies, regular shoppers are also pretty busy and less likely to pay attention to their surroundings unlike the cops and store workers who are always watching the customers. Add in the fact that SpongeBob is trying to hide everything he puts in his basket, and the guards and employees would be in the right to think something is off about him.
  • I have always thought it was strange for the Jelliens to not have attacked and cloned the two worms in Rock Bottom, despite them being right by their base. However perhaps this is completely intentional on the Overlord's part. Since the heroes are more than equipped to deal with Jelliens, the Overlord might've decided to just leave the Alaskan and Parasitic Worms be, figuring that they would be excellent bodyguards in the event the heroes discovered their base. Mr.Krabs himself does acknowledge that his mayo gun wouldn't do any good when he sees the Parasitic Worm since she's not a Jellien.
  • Why is it that the entire Barg N'Mart store freaks out when Krabs and SpongeBob are revealed to not be Jelliens when in the intro cutscene, only one guard dealt with a regular civilian? Well because, as revealed in the Goo Lagoon level,SpongeBob himself is wanted by the Overlord due to defeating them the first time the Jelliens invaded. Of course his presence there would cause all of the Jelliens to freak out.
  • It seems a bit random for Big Lenny to just invade Squidward's home during the migration season, until you realize that he likely followed the same shortcut that Patrick had found to Jellyfish Fields in the tutorial. And if we're to assume he was also looking to hide from the Jelliens, Squidward's home would be the best place to lay low considering it's far bigger than the other two homes and there's plenty of rooms/areas to hide if any Jelliens do come knocking. Plus, all the windows in the home means that if things did get bad, Lenny could easily flee from the Jelliens.
  • Dennis claiming that he doesn't know Patrick seems a bit strange at first glance considering that he's met him and tried to kill him before in the SpongeBob movie, not to mention that Plankton would've likely gave him information on SpongeBob and Patrick in the movie. However this is perfect hint that this guy isn't the real Dennis.
  • It's initially weird that Jellien Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy were willing to work alongside Man Ray and Dirty Bubble, however this actually does make sense. Considering Man Ray's Ambiguously Human nature and that Dirty Bubble is... Well, a bubble, perhaps the Jelliens just didn't even see them as people to clone.
    • This does additionally explain why Dirty Bubble suddenly killed the clones. Even though the Jelliens didn't see them as life forms to clone, they would've certainly turned on all of the other villains the moment they were freed.
  • Jellien Pearl's behavior seems strange at first glance. After spending the entire level sleepwalking, she suddenly wakes up out of nowhere as soon as you grab the mayo minigun and she then hides in the kitchen, before coming out to ambush you when you go to leave. However, it's entirely possible that the mechanic of her waking up often throughout the level isn't just a case of Gameplay Story Segregation; Pearl actually does hear Mr.Krabs' movement and actions, causing her to wake up often and look around. By the time she does actually wake up for real, she probably comes to the realization that the noises she had been hearing were actually an intruder. Additionally, it's very likely that Mr.Krabs at some point had told Pearl about the Jelliens and about the mayo minigun he had stored in the basement and Jellien Pearl, being able to remember that, decided to plan a surprise and attempt to ambush him.
    • Also, combined with Fridge Horror, it's possible that the Pinkie mysterously disappears because it accidentally woke up Jellien Pearl and got killed in response.

Fridge Horror

  • What's the Jelliens' motivation for wanting to attack and raid a theme park with a low amount of people and not much space? Nothing. There's no reason for them to go there, except that SpongeBob is there. He inadvertently served as an Unwitting Instigator of Doom and got dozens of people that would normally have been safe kidnapped and cloned. It becomes even worse when you consider that some civilians might've been killed, if the body at the entrance of the Tunnel of Glove is anything to go by.
  • Most players may not pay attention to this, or many not ever see it on their playthrough, but one tip Potty says is be wary of the Belchers and don't walk under them like other dumb fish folk. Yeah, this could very well imply a few, or MANY, unfortunate citizens became fish food for these ceiling campers.
  • There might be a reason for Jellien Puff's sadism towards Spongebob upon catching him. As we all know, Spongebob attends her class and he's always failing to earn his driver's license, with Puff often getting injured in the process or in trouble. Perhaps Jellien Puff realizes that if Spongebob were to be turned into a Jellien as well, they would just keep repeating that same endless cycle as clones. So, to avoid that, the Puff clone decides to just outright kill Spongebob and tear him to pieces just to make sure he's dead and gone for good. To make this even more horrifying, there could be a chance the regular Mrs. Puff wanted to tear Spongebob apart so he's out of her life for good and the Jellien clone of Puff is simply acting on this subconscious desire. She did try to kill Spongebob at one point in the actual show.
  • Why did the Overlord eat Pearl but keep everyone else in the cocoons alive? Simply for no reason other than to spite and taunt Krabs. The crustacean did bring his daughter up in the the final level by saying the Overlord would pay for taking her, so in retaliation the Overlord retreated to his base and killed her.
  • By how identical cloning works, a corpse cannot be cloned into a living entity. So why does the Overlord send out Jelliens with abilities to kill rather than clone? Because it wants there to be permanent casualties this time. The last time it attacked, the Jelliens were all neutralised and it was a pure happy ending. By killing a lot of the caught citizens, the Overlord can insure that the happiest ending this time is a Bittersweet Ending at best.
  • If the doodles had remained in the kitchen and waited for Spongebob to walk inside, they would've been able to ambush and kill him instantly.
  • Nosferatu appearing in the original show as the guy messing with the lights was funny, but him doing it in the game as the Hash Slinging Slasher clone stalks you implies that he's trying to get you killed.
  • Seeing a poor citizen get cloned in the cutscene of the Barg N'Mart level is very unsettling, but it was necessary. Otherwise Krabs and Spongebob would've just walked right in unprepared and instantly get attacked by vicious clones.
  • Here's really hoping Gary was smart enough to jump ship like the others when the Overlord trashed the Krusty Krab.
  • What happens to the jellyfish that get converted into Jelliens? They aren't seen being put in cocoons and they aren't seen being released/freed like the clones, implying they actually die. If that's true, that's quite unfortunate for Spongebob's blue Friend.
    • The gang better thank their lucky starfish that Big Lenny didn't get converted, considering how he acts without the Overlord commanding him.
  • As mentioned above and elsewhere, the Overlord did all of this out of revenge on SpongeBob, and possibly Sandy, as she helped bring its downfall as well. Now, this doesn't mean either of them should be blamed for the Overlord's plot, but one has to wonder if either of them are gonna feel like all this suffering is on them. Moreover, what's Sandy going to think when she wakes up and learns everything she slept through?
    • For that matter, one has to wonder how many scars this left on Bikini Bottom. That poor fish probably isn't going back to the Barg N'Mart anytime soon, and Mrs. Puff's students might have a tough time going back to class.
  • Krabs and Pearl have relatives that are still very much alive. What are they going to think when they learn Krabs and his daughter are both dead? For that matter, what's Plankton going to do? Is he going to relish this? Will it break him to actually lose his former friend? Will he keep going after the formula? Who knows?
  • The fact that the Goofy Goober here is a Prowler in a suit rather than a clone like Glovey was doesn't spell good things for whoever was in that suit. Especially with the aforementioned Belchers nesting in the restaurant.
  • There's an Easter Egg featuring Sans hiding in Goofy Goober's. Unless he got Adaptational Badass, Sans is pretty much a sitting duck in a town full of homocidal aliens.note  One best hope he kept his head low until it was all over.
  • Everyone was likely freed from their cocoons when the Overlord died, but keep in mind that includes Plankton and Dennis. Sure, the former might be a bit grateful to be saved, but the latter is still a psycho Bounty Hunter with no regard for life. Let's hope they didn't hurt anyone once everyone was freed.
  • While Starfish Man/Patrick is fighting the supervillains, defeating one causes them to fall over and just lay on the stage. The next villain that shows up will likely have an attack meant to blow Patrick off the stage, and it winds up hitting the defeated villain he fought before...knocking them into the stalagmite-covered floor that gives Patrick a game over if he falls in it. Yeah, those guys are dead.
    • Subverted, in that the cutscene shows them all unconscious on the platform.
  • The quest name "You Can't Hide What's Inside". At face value, it's an innocent quote from the show. Think about it however, and it gets dark fast.
  • Have you guys wondered why no residents of Rock Bottom, especially the red fish that had helped Spongebob get out when he was trapped in there, aren't shown in game? Well between the Jelliens setting up a base there, the Alaskan Bull Worm and the Nestlers in the sand, and the Parasitic Worm prowling in the darkness, it's anyone's guess on what happened to them, but the four possible options aren't looking very good..

Fridge Logic

  • In the tutorial, Berry pulls out a knife to threaten SpongeBob and Patrick. Despite this, he attacks with his bear hands throughout the game. The knife is never even seen again after he puts it away.
  • The Doodle Pinkie drawn by Doodle Patrick also vanishes with no mention nor reappearance after its introductory cutscene.

Fridge Sadness

  • Right before Patrick and Spongebob part in the final level, Patrick begins to say "I'll feel awful if I never get the chance to ap-" before they're attacked and separated. Later on, after Doodle Patrick gives Patrick a "Reason You Suck" Speech, Patrick admits he's not been a very good friend and he wants to make it up to Spongebob. With that, it's likely that sentence would have ended with something like "apologize for how I've treated you". Now imagine if Spongebob didn't make it out of the final boss fight alive; that would have haunted Patrick for the rest of his days. Doubly so if you question how much time had passed between Patrick's latest crime against Spongebob and now; It's entirely plausible that Patrick didn't realize how much Spongebob meant to him and that he'd been taking him for granted until Spongebob was almost lost in Glove World, hence why Patrick is only considering apologizing now. And he comes dangerously close to losing that chance—he likely would have if Mr. Krabs didn't decide to make a Heroic Sacrifice.
