These are recommendations made by tropers for The Big O Fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Feel free to add a fanfic of your own to the list, but remember to use the template found here.
Do warn when a fanfic may head into sexualnote or non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

- Lady Tesser's works have a great "feel" about them. Mr and Mrs Smith
(which, er, actually starts with a story called The Blossoming Rose) in particular —- it's not that they strictly follow originalflavor, or even that they deviate from it; it's that they seem to develop from a canon-style setting in what seems like a organic fashion, but still keep enough of a connection to the roots of the show to make it all come together comfortably. I wouldn't call it a "shipping" series, per se — although if it's not, it's dang close to it, and there's plenty of WAFF to go around, but it's really not a "romance" series. Plus, there's some subtle traces of megacrossover, but essentially just as backstory (specifics might be too much of a spoiler), and delightfully well handled.

- 7Moondance's work is a bit of a mixed bag, with of his (her?) earliest stories being limp one-off jokes at best. However, the aforementioned attempts to pen a third season feel quite loyal to the parent material in both tone and characterization. So far The consistency of character voice and imaginative attempts to mix both the Mind Screw finale of the series with basic elements of a typical episode of Big O quite delightful. I almost wish this could be used to produce an OVA of the third season: there's quite a lot going on here and its quite worth the while. I truly wish the 7Moondance had continued; these stories have the momentum and gut of the orignal source, making them top-grade fanfiction.

- Galaxy 1001 D's has both their own spin on a possible third season and several one-shots that are all fairly enjoyable at worst. All of their Big O works feel true to the source material while still doing their own thing, capturing the characters and Mind Screw quite nicely. Fair warning, though: Galaxy 1001 D is a Roger/Dorothy shipper, and the aforementioned third season does touch on Cosmic Horror Story elements, so if those aren't your thing, you should probably move along. Otherwise, Galaxy 1001 D is an excellent author who writes excellent stories, and I highly recommend giving them a read.
